For me, that moment came with languages.

I recently started learning German. Back in Poland, we had both English and German classes, but I prioritised English over German.

Looking back, I realise I should have given equal attention to both.

The past is the past; I cannot change it. But the present is in my control, and you can learn anything you want if you commit.

People often ask me: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡? 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫?

For me, the answer is simple. I already had some basics, a foundation from my youth, so why start something completely from scratch when I can build on what I already know?

This is a powerful analogy for many situations in life and work. If you are unsure what to do next, look for areas where you already have some foundation or basic skills and build on them.

You do not always need to reinvent yourself from zero. Sometimes progress comes from strengthening what you already have.

𝐌𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮:

Where in your life or career do you have an existing foundation you can build on? Instead of starting from scratch, identify those areas and invest in them. The compound interest of building on your strengths can be life-changing.

PS: I mentioned before that I love visiting historical buildings. Recently, I visited St Paul’s Cathedral in London. What a fascinating building with such rich history. Here are some pictures from my visit.
