In 2025 alone, I referred 23 freelancers to potential clients (for free).

None of them were copycats.

About 10 creators copied a story I shared last week.

Some rephrased it using AI.
Some removed a few lines.

And some others recreated similar stories, using the exact format and some of the same lines.

Many who knew the original was mine called it out.

And many others DMed me about it.

I’m calmer now, unlike the old me who used to get frustrated.

I’ve lost count of how many times my posts were plagiarized.

And ever since AI came into the picture, the number has only gone up.

I know I can’t control it. 

And now, the frequency of plagiarism helps me understand my influence.

But here’s what I want to tell anyone who truly wants to stand out with their real voice 👇

❌ Stop imitating the creators you admire.
❌ Stop rephrasing their content.
❌ Stop trying to sound like them.

Because even though you get engagement, others can figure it out. 

I saw a creator who has no connection with storytelling copied the same content, with the same concluding line, like an expert. 

But they are ruining it as their posts are a mix of content that sounds like many other creators. 

When you imitate, you repel clients. 

And you also lose respect from people who could’ve referred you to them.

Find your tone. Build your brand like yours. 

That’s what makes people remember you.

Not some copied or rephrased posts that got you 100s of reactions.

I'm the most pathetic salesperson on this planet.

☝️Years back, I shared a post that meant this. 

The irony is, I shared it when 95% of my clients were inbound leads. 

The rest were referrals from existing clients. 

All of it came from LinkedIn, specifically storytelling. 

Despite business going well, I thought my sales skills were awful. 

Maybe because I didn't try hard. 

That's exactly what right storytelling does. 

I recently had a 50th Calendly booking (the account I've used since 2021). 

That means, I haven't talked to 100s of prospects for retainer projects. 

I sent offers to many through DMs when they asked. 

I talked to selective prospects who were clear about their goals. 

And that helped me save time and make more money. 

I owe it all to storytelling. 

Even if you don't try desperately to get sales done, the right storytelling will get it done. 

When you master the game, you will already become story-sellers rather than storytellers. 

If you need to grow your business, be a storyseller rather than a storyteller.

If you see irrelevant posts on your feed, don’t blame the algorithm.

It’s because you haven’t curated the feed well.

Your feed reflects what you engage with, who you follow, and what you choose to ignore.

If your LinkedIn feed drains you instead of inspiring you, curate a great feed by: 

1. Unfollowing strategically.

Not just people who post low-value content, but also those who constantly engage with clutter. Your feed learns from their activity too.

2. Engage intentionally.

React to what resonates.
Comment on posts that genuinely add value.
DM creators whose work moves you.

3. Stop hate-engagement.

When you react or comment on posts you dislike, the algorithm assumes you enjoy that type of content, and gives you more of it. So, only engage if you want such kind of content on your feed. 

We’ve done this for so many clients consciously for 30 days, and the results are dramatic.

We see so many people blaming the algorithm for an awful feed. 

The algorithm isn't the villain here. You got it right?

How to Curate a Great LinkedIn Feed

3 years back, I cracked going viral and sold through storytelling effortlessly. 

The secret is RELATABILITY. 

2022: Lived in my old home with big dreams. (yellow outfit) 

2023:  Still hustling in my new home, but finally seeing stability. (work desk)

2024: Started earning more with less time, got selective, calmer, and more content. (orange & pink outfit) 

2025: Life isn't a walk on a rosebed. But I no longer have the struggles that most of my readers instantly connect with.

When you start your business from scratch, struggling financially, and dealing with stress, you are deeply relatable.

That degree of relatability reduces when you keep climbing the ladder. 

I never thought my stories would sell when I first wrote one here. 

But it happened because people either found their reflection in me or saw their younger version in my journey.

Today, I'm blessed with so many long-term client relationships. 

They saw me hustling. 
They saw me growing. 
They find my journey inspiring. 

You can build long-term opportunities purely through storyselling. 

But for that, don't shy away from talking about your struggles. 

That’s what makes people trust your growth.

👆I told this to an agency owner yesterday.

I didn't try to sell anything. 
I wasn't being a sadist. 
I tried to help her. 

Because she was in her comfy zone, not getting adapted. 

So many experts switched to Personal Branding services or AI services just 2-3 months back. 

They say, “Market demand is increasing; you are safe.”

But as market demand increases, competition increases too. 

I got replaced from a few projects since 2024.

But still, I closed the 2 biggest deals in my whole career this year. 

Also, I accepted 2 offers that helped me learn a lot beyond SMM.

What helped me with that👇

-joining strategy roles more. 
-reducing my scrolling hours. 
-letting go of short-term deals. 
-talking more with industry experts. 

The majority of creators you come across on LinkedIn are Personal Branding experts. 

Some claim to be here even before they learnt ABCD. 

So, if you are in your cozy seat earning $1000 - $4000 monthly from not more than 2 clients, 

1. Consider this an alert. 
2. Wear your upskilling gear. 
3. Offer complimentary skills other than just Personal Branding, or AI services that can be replaced.

Even the top ones in the game can sense it's getting tougher day by day. 

Don't let a current happy client/customer fool you otherwise😇

“Be Real” is an overrated advice on LinkedIn. 

Especially with the emergence of AI. 

I was real. 
I talked about less glam topics. 
That authenticity made my business grow.

But the platform changed. 

People who fake it are big in numbers. 

Some people cook fake sob stories to generate more leads. 

That’s why the solution isn’t being real alone. 

Instead of documenting your raw emotions and experiences, do this👇

1. Study the layers of your persona. 

2. Think about which layer suits your audience. 

3. Create a strategy that projects those layers. 

4. Keep sharing your real experiences and wisdom. 

I’m goofy, chaotic, and sometimes bad-tempered with my inner circle. 

But people in my professional circle see my other version. 

That’s not faking. That’s how I really am. (We can't be the same in every circle)

The other side is reserved for people whom I let be in my inner circle. 

Being real got me noticed.

Being strategically real built my business.

There’s a difference.

You get 1,000 likes with 10k followers.
But you’ll only get 432 likes with 50k+ followers.

Not joking,  just stating the truth.

So many people say, “followers don’t matter if your engagement rate is good.”

Their posts cross 1,000 likes.
Their posts get hundreds of comments.

And they think it’ll be 5,000+ reactions and 1000s of comments once they hit 50k or 100k followers.

But here’s the reality 👇

When you have under 50k followers, the algorithm pushes your posts more to people who actually engage. 

That is, the ones who emotionally connect with you or learn from you.

But once you cross 50k+, your audience base widens, and your posts start reaching a more general audience.

That wider audience might not be your loyal supporters.

And that’s when you’ll notice the downward curve.

If the engagement rate kept growing with followers, creators with 100k+ followers would have 10k likes per post.

But even the most celebrated creators don’t get that consistently.

I’ve had posts with thousands of reactions and 500+ comments.

But after crossing 50k, I saw the same downward shift, just like many others.

So if your engagement rate isn’t improving after 50k+, this might be why.

For growing creators who are getting great traction right now, don’t stress. It’s not your problem yet.

But felt like sharing, as the drop in engagement rate panicked so many creators.

The ones who send 3-8 newsletters daily are a menace. 

I had to unsubscribe from a few newsletters recently from big names. 

Because I felt like I entered a market where sellers were competitive and shouted about their products aggressively. 

The kind of emails I received from the same person on the same day: 

“I’ll be live soon.”
“I’m doing live, sweetie.”
“My live ended 10 min back.”
“The value I offered at live today.”

4 emails, talking about nothing else, but a live that I was forced to care about. 

A few other emails from similar creators: 

“Noticed you don’t read my emails. I won’t send anymore, unless you confirm with a reply”

Literally 3 days later: 

“I usually don’t care about people who don’t read my emails. But I guess I have to tell you this.”

Why do people who claim to be experts do this? 

I found it an inconvenience because I’ve got a life, and I want none of these spammy or pushy emails. 

Some creators send newsletters weekly with great quality. 

Some manage to keep the quality intact 2-3x a week. 

Then there are the everyday email senders, who once in a while pull off quality newsletters. 

But the ones who send 3-7 times daily are a menace. 

I’m surprised that people with big communities do this. 

Asking because I’m genuinely curious, 

Is being this pushy what moves the needle?

You’re playing a risky game if you think you’re “skilled” because your LinkedIn followers told you so.

I received a truckload of compliments since my first post here. 

And that humbles me and fills me with gratitude. 

It makes my day sometimes when people compliment me. 

But I never consider it as a metric to analyze my skills. 

I measure my skills by whether:

-a client hesitates to buy a premium service or not. 
-experts offer constructive feedback, not just compliments.

Recently, I saw a beginner designer rework a perfectly good banner for a design expert.

The redesign had:
-Fonts that looked childish.
-Random colors thrown in.
-Multiple irrelevant elements.

But the comments were: 
“10/10!” “You nailed it!” “Best design ever!”

Some even said it was a better design than the pro designer:(

No one offered a single piece of real feedback.

And that’s the problem.

LinkedIn’s kindness sometimes turns into toxic validation.

I’ve seen this across my LinkedIn storytelling clients too.

Many people confuse engagement with expertise.

An expert is an expert.
A beginner is a beginner.

There’s no shame in that, as long as you know the difference.

Learn from the right people.

Ask for feedback from those who’ll help you grow, not those who’ll just say, “This is great.”

Because honest feedback helps you grow for real than flattery.
