SEO is no longer about keywords-

Newsflash: SEO hasn't been about keywords since the 2010s' with the advent of semantic search.

The following milestones were created/ introduced during that time:

→ 2011- Schema dot org is created , enabling structured data to help search engines understand entity relationships.
 →2012- Launch of the Knowledge Graph, mapping entities (people, places, things). Often referred to "things, not strings".
→2013- Hummingbird Update focused on moving away from strictly from bm25 (keyword matching) instead to semantic search to understand and match the search intent.
→2015/2016- Google RankBrain is an AI model that helped Google better understand users’ nuanced search intent to serve up more relevant results. Which, utilizes machine learning and AI.
→2019- The Bert Update which allowed for better understanding of conversional language and search context.

Please, let's remember it's 2026 and not 2006. If you still think SEO is purely about keywords, you've not been doing it right for a while.

Over the last few months, my team and I at HUB has been demoing a lot of AI SEO tools.

Some of the pricing I’ve seen on these tools is making me think I choose the wrong career path, lol.
