Everyone says storytelling builds authority.

But for me, it exposed a truth I hate.


When I started on LinkedIn, value posts were king.
After some time, personal stories took over.


People sharing failures and struggles were getting likes, followers, and clients. 

The definition of virality became storytelling. 


So, I also tried it and posted 3-4 personal stories. 

But after that, I got stuck. 


Not because I had too many stories.
Because I had nothing WORTH to share.


I opened Google Docs. 
Typed a few words.
Then pressed backspace. 

Over and over, multiple times a day.
I kept doing this for days… 

nothing happened. 


When I see some viral storytelling posts, I feel unworthy.  

“What life have I even lived?”, I felt.


Eventually, I dropped the dream of getting more traffic with personal stories.

Yet, I asked myself ‘why’. 


‘Why don’t I have stories worth telling?’

This haunts me every time I come across a storytelling post.


So I looked back.


I used to be a person who settled easily.

I avoided conflict, feared saying 'No', and people pleasing was my comfort. 

- I feared making a mistake. 
- I couldn’t think about doing something and failing at it. 
- I even feared openly saying an unpopular opinion in any group.


Running from what makes me uncomfortable became my habit.


That was the reason I didn’t have stories to tell.

Stories worth sharing come from your;

- Experience
- Failures
- Trial and errors
- Setbacks
- Uncomfortable moments
- a 5-second moment that shattered you


If you are afraid to face those moments in life, you are not only avoiding pain.


You are avoiding growth. 

And you will become stagnant.


More than that,  you end up being a 'Storyless' person.

So if you want to tell great stories, make your life rich with experience. 


You will get templates, guides, hacks, structure format for telling a great story.


But if you don’t even have stories to share, what’s the use of them?

Remember: Discomfort is where great stories are born.

Stop trying to find stories.
Start living them.

Audience & Relationship Builder for Coaches & Course Creators | YouTube Scripting

It’s not ChatGPT, it's CheatGPT. 

You know what that little rascal did to me?



Yesterday, I was analysing a YouTube script.

It’s a pretty big channel. 

While watching, I saw some comments: 


‘It’s AI written.’

‘Scriptwriter is AI.’ 


I got curious. 


So I transcribed the script and asked ChatGPT;

Is this AI scripted? If yes, then how can I recognize an AI-written script?

And the answer was ‘Yes, it's mostly written with AI.’ 

It gave me a detailed explanation that solidifies it.



Very convincing.


Then I thought, ‘Wow, now I know how not to sound like AI.’


I tested 2 more scripts. 

Same result. 
‘AI-written.’


Next, I started to break down another video, which clearly felt human.

Emotions. Storytelling. Pauses.

But just out of curiosity, I gave it to ChatGPT. 



And it said, it's also AI-written.


I went perplexed. 

Because this time, that script has almost all ‘human-written signs’.


I became suspicious and felt something off.


I opened a ‘new chat’.

Pasted the same script.

Asked,’ Is this fully human-written script?’

The answer was: ‘Yes, mostly human-written.’ 

The same script, just a few seconds ago, showed as AI-written, now turned human-written.


I literally froze.


And I gave the first video script. 


Now, it says, it's fully human-written. Very little AI usage. 

I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’

That’s when it hit me.
AI doesn’t detect truth.

It reacts just like how the prompt is designed. 

Ask ‘is this AI written?’ - it finds AI.
Ask ‘is this human written?’ - it finds human.

And today, ‘perfect writing’ looks artificial.

After analyzing 60+ long-form and 150+ short-form videos, 

I found 6 factors that make any audience stay.


People over-focus on ‘Hooks.’

But the real question is “Can you retain the audience?’


Yeah! Sure, hooks are very important. 


But don’t forget it's just an entrance. 
 

Your success as a content creator depends on your skill to keep the audience there until you tell them what action you want them to take.

This is where the real content game starts. 


So, Retention is where growth happens.

After studying hundreds of viral videos, I found 6 factors that decide whether viewers stay or swipe.

Here they are:

1- Transformation
They want to see, feel, or need a hope for a transformation. 
A result. Realization. A better part.

2- Immediate Value 
You have to give them a value that can be used right after the video.
Not the next day. Just after the video.  

3- Ups and Downs
Flat content dies fast.
You have to show some kind of ups and downs - tension, curiosity, hope, relief.

4- Logic + Emotion
Emotion gives the urge to act. But logic gives reason to act.
They won’t act until they hit this combo.

5- Drag them
Don’t just tell or explain. Give an experience.
Make them feel like they’re inside the video with you.

6- Stakes
Give them reasons to care.
Answer these questions;
What happens if they don’t watch?
What do they lose?

In short-form: add stakes twice.
(early and in the middle.)

Most creators are obsessed with the hook. 
But reality is, retention builds trust.

Trust brings followers and clients. 

If your videos aren’t converting, it’s rarely a hook problem.
It’s a retention problem.
