The longest relationship of my life wasn't with a person.

It was with pretending.

For most of my life, I played a character that everyone else seemed to want me to be. 

I married a woman because bank executives in the 90s were homophobic and I was terrified of what would happen if anyone found out who I really was. 

I drank too much to numb the feeling of living someone else's life. 

I showed up to work every day and smiled and hit my numbers and climbed the ladder and the whole time there was this voice in my head saying "this isn't you."

I don't know when exactly it stopped. There wasn't some dramatic moment where I threw off the mask and everything changed overnight. It was more like a slow thaw, honestly. 

But over the course of my life, little moments started to pile up. Little moments where I let myself be a little more honest.

And then I met Fraymond.

And for the first time in my life, I didn't have to pretend to be someone I wasn't just to be loved.

I think about this a lot on Valentine's Day because so many people spend their whole lives in relationships where they feel like they have to perform.

Block just laid off 4,000 employees - nearly HALF their workforce - and blamed it on AI.

Jack Dorsey didn't sugarcoat it: "We are choosing to shift how we operate... to move faster with smaller, highly talented teams using AI to automate more work."

This is the canary in the coal mine.

Block isn't struggling. They're not going bankrupt. They just reported strong earnings and beat analyst expectations. They laid off 4,000 people because AI can do their jobs better, faster, and cheaper.

Here's Dorsey's chilling prediction:
"Within the next year, I believe the majority of companies will reach the same conclusion and make similar structural changes."

Translation: Your job isn't safe. No one's job is safe.

The brutal math:
• 10,205 employees → 6,000 employees
• Same revenue, same growth
• 40% cost reduction overnight
• Stock is up 18% in premarket

"Won't AI replace traders too?" 

Maybe eventually.

But you know what's happening right now? 

Every retail trader with a $20 ChatGPT subscription thinks they've got an edge. They're all running the same RSI signals, the same moving average crossovers, the same pattern recognition.

Which means they're all getting the same buy/sell signals at the exact same time.

Which means they're a herd that we can make money off of. 

The 10 AM retail rush gets STRONGER every month as more people day-trade from home. 

More predictable behavior = more exploitable opportunities for people who actually understand what they're doing. 

I've never been trying to outsmart anyone. I've always just taught my students how to take the other side of retail mistakes. We're pattern-matching – not predicting anything.

Trading skills based on reading human behavior under stress has  a longer shelf life than "Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives."

Options gives you the ability to exponentially move your returns directionally.

I spent 30 years in banking, trading 40+ hours a week for a paycheck. Good money, but terrible math.

Here's what I realized:
• 40 hours = 1 week of my life
• 2,000 hours = 1 year of my life
• 80,000 hours = My entire career

Every hour I spent in meetings, dealing with office politics, or hitting arbitrary sales targets was an hour I'd never get back.

The breakthrough came when I learned options trading:
Instead of trading 40 hours for money, I could trade 60-90 minutes for the same (or better) results.

Think about that math:
• Banking: 40 hours = X dollars
• Trading: 1.5 hours = X dollars (or more)

Time arbitrage is the ultimate edge.

Most people are stuck in the "time for money" trap. They think working MORE hours equals making MORE money.

What’s going to move the stock market this week? 

As we head into a new trading week, there are a few important things investors should keep an eye on.

Not because every one will move every stock, but because they set the backdrop for market sentiment and volatility.

First, economic data will be center stage. 

Investors will closely watch February’s U.S. employment report on Friday to see whether job growth is slowing or staying strong. 

That number often drives broader market direction because it influences expectations around Federal Reserve policy and interest rates and when rates stay higher for longer, stocks can react more strongly. 

In addition to data, earnings continue to matter. 

Several big names, including retailers like Target and Best Buy, consumer staples, and tech-related companies are reporting results throughout the week. 

Stocks often move ahead of these reports and after they come out as traders react to both the numbers and the company’s forward guidance. 

Finally, geo-political news and macro themes are adding volatility. 

Ongoing Middle East tensions have lifted oil prices and can influence risk sentiment across global markets, and that kind of uncertainty tends to make correlations between stocks stronger. 

This week isn’t about one big event, it’s about a mix of employment data, earnings catalysts, and macro uncertainty. 

Each of them on their own might not move every stock, but together they’ll shape how the market behaves.
