Tech that doesn’t solve human problems is dead on arrival.

We live in a sea of tools and noise. I know this well, because I spent years navigating the digital rabbit hole myself.

During COVID, I was forced to confront some uncomfortable realities. My business had become heavy. Payroll was high. Time was being traded for diminishing returns. I was working long hours and seeing very little freedom from it. Something had to change.

That moment pushed me deep into digital transformation.

I began redesigning how work was done. Systems instead of strain. Automation instead of repetition. Technology that reduced effort and multiplied results. Over time, one principle became clear to me: when technology is applied with intent, it creates leverage. When it isn’t, it creates exhaustion.

I focused on using AI, automation, and cybersecurity-aware systems to build income streams that didn’t rely on constant presence. The outcome was not just efficiency, but breathing room.

Today, I design and teach the systems I use myself. I can create and launch a complete course in hours. I can build a functional website in under two hours. Speed comes from clarity and structure, not pressure.

I’ve published more than 10 books and sold over 10,000 copies worldwide, and I’ve trained thousands of people across technology and digital transformation. These results didn’t come from chasing tools. They came from applying the right ones, in the right way.

My mom left the classroom the day computers entered it.

She had taught for years.

''AI is not working.
AI is not solving our problem.''

And I didn’t want to admit why…
Because the problem wasn’t the tool.

The problem was me.

I was helping an SME automate operations (admin, customer follow-ups, reporting).

We installed “AI tools.” We ran a demo. We even made a shiny checklist.

I walked into the next week thinking:

✅ “Great. This will run itself now.”

Instead… everything slowed down.

Staff “forgot” to use it

The old manual process kept coming back

The owner started panicking because cash flow didn’t improve

And I caught the vibe: people were avoiding the tool like it was a trap

Then one staff member said something that embarrassed me:

“So if we use this properly… do we still have jobs?”

That’s when it clicked.

Most AI roll outs in SMEs feel like disguised downsizing fantasies.

Even if the owner doesn’t mean it.
Even if the tool is good.
Even if the intention is “help.”

So adoption dies… quietly.

I made a terrible assumption:
I assumed people would care because the business cared.

They don’t.
People care when AI makes their life safer, easier, and more valuable — not just “more efficient.”

So I changed my approach.

And this is what started working (especially for SMEs):

The SME AI Adoption Framework (simple + brutal)

1) SAFETY first (before software)
Say it clearly: AI removes tasks, not people.
Then prove it: show what work they’ll stop doing.

2) ONE workflow only (not 10)
Pick the most painful process: quotes, invoices, follow-ups, customer support.
Automate one thing end-to-end until it works.

3) TRAIN SKILLS, not buttons
Workflow Thinking (what actually happens)
Tool Selection (stop buying random tools)
Integration Thinking (tools must talk)
ROI Thinking (what time/money did we save?)

4) PAY THEM BACK
If AI saves 10 hours/week, where does that time go?
Service improvement? Sales calls? Faster delivery? Bonuses? Shorter Fridays?

If there’s no visible win for staff, they won’t adopt it.

That’s the difference between:
“AI is not working”and“AI is now printing time + money.”

Our children are already growing up with AI in their hands, on their screens, and in their everyday lives.

I’m excited about AI…and also genuinely worried.

I love what it can unlock 

Speed.  Clarity.  Scale.

And then I think about how quickly the rules of work are shifting.

Some roles are already being reshaped quietly.

Tasks that used to take hours now take minutes.

And the scary part is how easy it is to miss the shift until it touches your income.

I have struggled with design in my business life. 

I have stared at proposals knowing the content is strong but the presentation is not. 

I have watched opportunities move past me because what I had to offer did not look the way it felt in my heart. 

I have felt that quiet frustration of having the vision in my mind but not the skills or time to make it look polished and professional.

So I started using AI tools.

I use them daily now.
I do not use AI to avoid effort. 
I use it because I am tired of pouring in double the energy just to make my brilliance visible.

And yes, AI is a double-edged sword. 
It can overwhelm you with noise. 
It can make you feel behind. 
It can feed comparison. 

But when you choose tools that truly support your work and your well-being, it can also feel like breathing again.

They have helped me show up with confidence.

I was beaten growing up, and in the context of the 70s and 80s, it was normal.

I was raised by a village African mom who was also a teacher. 

She was strict, disciplined, and deeply loving. 

If I could choose again, I would still choose her. 

I learned a lot. 

It was beautiful in its own way.

But that was then.

Today, we know better, so we must do better.

I have raised two beautiful children and I have never beaten them. 

And yes, I am a tech person, but I am intentional about how tech enters our home.

To date, we do not have a TV in our lounge. 

We have a bookshelf. 

I am an avid reader. 

We read, we talk, we gather. 

We run a small family book club, and every Sunday we read and review a book together.

Because there are many ways to raise curious, confident children without outsourcing their childhood to a screen.

As we step deeper into an AI powered world, we have to be honest. 

Tech is a double edged sword. 

It can educate and empower, or it can distract, addict, and shape values in silence.

No mentors. 
No labs. 
No exposure. 

And while the world accelerates into AI, the gap is no longer just about education. 

It is about survival in the modern economy.

Our work has now reached over 10,000 people across Sub Saharan Africa. 

Real learners. 
Real outcomes 
Real classrooms 

But scale carries its own weight. 

The need is bigger than our current capacity. 

We can do more. 

We must do better. 

We must move faster.

Digital transformation training is no longer optional. 

It is the new literacy. 

And AI will either widen the gap or widen the circle. 

If we are not intentional, AI will deepen inequality, reward the already connected, and silence the already marginalized.

I grew up hearing from my mom and dad that I could be anything. 

They raised me to walk into the world with confidence, not permission. 

I did not know that being a girl was meant to limit me until I stepped into spaces that tried to silence me, shrink me, and convince me I did not belong.

Building in tech, a deeply male-dominated space, has not been gentle. 

I have had to fight battles I never asked for, prove myself in rooms where my voice was doubted, and keep going in spaces that seemed to say a girl should stand back. 

But I learned to turn my scars into trophies. 

I learned that strength is not the absence of wounds, but the courage to keep rising with them.

Today, I honor the women who keep pushing, the men who truly stand with us, and every little girl who must grow up knowing her voice belongs everywhere, including in AI, in leadership, and in the future.

Happy International Women’s Day.
