Unlike many other speakers and executive coaches, I'm privileged to have a significant understanding of the corporate environment, specifically with international and multinational corporations from 20 years of experience in the workforce - with 10 of those years immersed in working within a corporation – negotiating at the top level for high-value contracts in the travel and expense management industry. After that, I left my corporate role and spent the next 10 years as a Speaker, Trainer, and Executive Coach - working with luxury brands, sales organisations, as well as banking and financial institutions, including global names such as American Express, Citibank, S&P Global.

My passion to impact the lives of others arose from the struggles which I grappled with in my own life journey. As a self-confessed rebel, I was on the road to destruction at a young age of 23, battling near bankruptcy, addictions, and traumatic health issues that led to two major hip replacement surgeries with titanium implants.

My turnaround moment came when I found the courage to break through my blind spots and limitations that had shackled me since young. Known to have a huge dose of straight-up humour and authentic sharing, I aim to connect with my audience by peeling off their veneers of fear, self-doubt, and insecurity through powerful stories. 

I am a Certified Speaking Professional and commonly known as a Titanium Hipster. One of the other professional hats I wear includes my role as an Associate Director at Imageworks, a Singapore-based company.

Someone told me this just before I stepped on stage to speak at an event years ago.
Yeah. Super useful advice. But HOW do I do this?

Because chanting a mantra has never quite gotten me ready for fire-walking. 🙃
 
Here's what I know: Confidence isn't a light switch you snap on and off. 

It's more like a dimmer that requires gradual tuning and trying.
 
So instead of expecting yourself to feel confident with a random chant or donning a superman suit...
 
Start absurdly small:
 
Afraid to speak up at work?
 
Try this — 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.
 
• January: Ask ONE question per meeting. That's it.
• February: TWO questions.
• March: THREE.
 
Sounds too simple? Maybe. 

But simple is Powerful.
 
One of my coachees tried this. Six months later, instead of only asking questions - she was now 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 the conversation.

The unsexy truth is this: 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
 
So stop waiting to "feel ready." Start building those first reps.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗜 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.
 I was 18. My first sales job. 

Knocking on doors in industrial areas, squatting on concrete floors next to uncles in translucent white singlets who were busy sawing wood and welding metal.
 
And there I was — trying to sell them advertising space.
 
A senior colleague came along to shadow me. And every single time I finished my pitch, he'd repeat what I just said. Same message. His words.
 
After a few rounds of this, I got frustrated. "Was I not clear?"
 
His answer changed everything:
 
"Cindy, you're talking too fast. You're not giving them the whole picture. They don't understand what you're saying."
 
That was my first lesson on the biggest blind spot in communication:
 
𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥𝗦.
 
This doesn't just apply to 18-year-old me. I still catch myself doing it. So do you.

This is the BS we don't catch — the Blind Spot that makes us assume understanding happened just because we spoke. 

We mistake talking for communicating. Presenting for connecting. And then we wonder why we get ghosted after.
 
Whether you're leading a team, pitching a client, or having a hard conversation with someone you love — the question isn't "Did I say it?"
 
It's "Did they get it?"
 
Your team could be losing deals right now — not because the product isn't good enough, but because the message never actually landed.

So Own Your BS — because the moment you see your Blind Spots is the moment your influence changes.

𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱.
I said that out loud on Coen Tan, CSP’s Wholehearted podcast — and even I had to sit with it for a second.

That little girl who turned herself into a schoolyard gangster was dangerous.

But she was also desperate. Desperate to matter. To be seen.

To feel like she took up space in a room that kept forgetting she existed.

Invisible at home? No problem.
Invisible in school? Hell no.

This was the biggest BS I fed myself with growing up.

You might not have been a delinquent like me. But have you ever built a version of yourself just to make sure no one could overlook you again?

That BS doesn't retire when you grow up. It follows you into your relationships, your leadership, your influence — quietly running the show while you think you're finally in control.

🧧 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲! 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝘁 - 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

"Where are you working / studying right now?"
"Which year are you in again?"
"When are you getting married?"

Every year, the internet teaches you how to fight back. 

Savage comebacks. Deflection scripts. Conversation exit strategies.

As if your Auntie Susan is a hostile negotiator and not a middle-aged woman holding a pineapple tart.

Can I be honest? I'm aunty age myself. And when I ask someone a question — there are usually 2 reasons:

✅ I'm genuinely trying to connect with you.

✅ You look like an awkward noob sitting there scrolling on your phone 

And you know what's harder than a smart comeback? Actual maturity.

Here's what that looks like:

𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 - Not everyone asking about your life is judging you. Some people just don't know how else to start a conversation. Stop treating every question like an attack. The battle is in your own head.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.
If "where are you working?" makes your chest tight - that's because YOU have unresolved feelings about it. Sit with it. That's where the real work is.

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 - Instead of deflecting, redirect. "Aunty, you've been married 15 years — what's one thing you wish you learnt early on?" Watch what happens when you ask older people for their wisdom. Most of them light up. You might actually learn something.

Connection can be awkward. But it beats scrolling in the corner proving you're too smart for small talk.

So.. Happy Chinese New Year! Go eat the pineapple tart and talk to that aunty.
