This poem changed my life

(and may change yours):

“It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.

She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.

And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.

But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.

Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.

The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that's where the river will know
it's not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.”

Reading (and re-reading) the poem sparked four powerful thoughts:

1. Fear is natural before transformation. That fear you feel as you approach a significant change is completely natural. It’s a cost of entry for the transformation you wanted.

2. There is no going back. On your growth journey, there is no turning back. A few weeks ago, ​I wrote​, “I believe that the worst mistakes in life are made when we try to cling to a prior season that has already passed.” We cannot undo experiences or retreat into old versions of ourselves. Always forward.

3. Surrender is necessary for growth. The attachment to a present identity (“the river”) holds you back from your true potential. To become the new, you have to unbecome the old. You have to let go of your old habits, mindsets, beliefs, and identity. That requires a leap of faith. That requires a surrender.

4. It’s not a loss, it’s an expansion. What feels like a loss or disappearance of the old is often just an expansion into the richness of the new. The river does not disappear into the ocean, it becomes the ocean.

The river’s story is our story.

So, what ocean are you afraid to enter?

Maybe it’s time you surrendered to it.

And when you do, remember this:

You are not disappearing, you are becoming.

This idea completely changed my life…

The Snake Chasing Effect:

A man is walking through the woods when he stumbles across a snake in the center of his path. The snake lashes out and bites him without warning, then turns and slithers away down the path. The man feels the sharp pain of the bite and the venom coursing through his leg. Fortunately, he's close to the village, so if he just walks back and gets the wound treated, he'll be fine. But he feels the anger and resentment building inside him: "Why did the snake do that to me? That's not right. I'm going to get revenge."

He starts chasing down the snake path, but as he pursues the snake, the venom takes hold and he collapses and dies. The story offers a powerful lesson, which you might call the Snake Chasing Effect: In life, you're going to get bitten by a snake every now and then. Someone betrays you. A partner lies. A family member mistreats you. A friend lets you down. A coworker takes credit for your work. The initial wound hurts—but it's survivable. If you take care of yourself, walk back to the village and treat the wound, you'll be fine.

But how often do you do the exact opposite? The internal voice starts a familiar refrain: How could they do this to me? I'm going to get them back. You start chasing the snake down the path, seeking your revenge. You obsess over the betrayal. The unfairness. The injustice. The real damage is not from the bite itself, but from your reaction to it. The real damage comes when you chase the snake.

The Snake Chasing Effect is a reminder that the wisest response to harm isn't retaliation or obsession, but restoration. Don't give the snake more power of you than it has. Focus on healing, not hunting. Tend your wound. Mend your garden. Your rebirth is the greatest revenge.

Amateur vs Pro - 11 Differences

This study blew my mind…

(you need to read this):

The Harvard Study of Adult Development is the longest running study on happiness.

Here are 3 powerful findings everyone should know:

1. Relationship satisfaction impacts health.

The researchers looked back at the lives of the 80-year-old participants to determine what factors were predictive of healthy aging.

What did they find?

Relationship satisfaction at age 50 was predictive of health at age 80.

Study director Robert Waldinger:

"It wasn't their cholesterol levels that predicted how they were going to grow old. It was how satisfied they were in their relationships. The people who were the most satisfied in their relationships at age 50 were the healthiest at age 80."

2. Loneliness kills.

Humans are social creatures. We thrive through connection to those around us.

Study participants who felt isolated were observably less happy and experienced notably earlier declines in health than those who felt connected.

The study observed the negative impacts of alcohol and smoking on the long-term health of the participants, but found that loneliness was just as negatively impactful.

Study director Robert Waldinger:

"Loneliness kills. It's as powerful as smoking or alcoholism."

3. Quality over quantity.

The researchers found that the quality of relationships was more impactful on health and happiness than the quantity of relationships.

A few deep bonds are worth far more than hundreds of weak or unhealthy ones.

Relationships are, quite literally, everything.

Hopefully the insights from my conversation with Dr. Robert Waldinger shine a light on their importance—and hopefully you take a few tiny actions that improve your Social Fitness in the days and weeks ahead.

Invest in your relationships—they will pay dividends in all areas of your life for many years to come.

I started building my personal brand on LinkedIn in a corner of my bedroom in 2018. 

Since then I've;

- Quit an underpaying job.
- Built a following of over 300,000 people online. 
- Generated $ 4 mil in inbound revenue from my LinkedIn presence alone.

18 months ago I'd earned over $4million selling my agency services through my personal brand and it changed my entire life.

Hi, I’m Amelia 👋
I was born in Australia and raised in West London.

I’m a mum, a founder, a fiancée, and a adult woman with ADHD who’s never quite fit the mould.

At 13, I started an eBay business buying and selling designer clothes I found in thrift stores.

At 18, I launched a baking business during uni that collapsed in 6 months.

At 21, I started a fashion brand. Year one looked like success — celebs wearing my clothes, press, and talks with ASOS.

Year two, it all collapsed. Not because the idea was bad - but because I had no idea how to run a business. I thought I knew everything. I didn’t. I made a lot of dumb decisions.

I lost everything. Ended up back at my parents’ house with 16p in my bank account. No job. No money. Heartbroken. Running on alcohol and cigarettes.

I went from Managing Director… to starting from the bottom. 

Again.

Then something clicked.

While working in recruitment, I started sending voice notes instead of cold DMs. People actually replied. That’s when I realised the power of personal branding.

People don’t buy from companies. They buy from people.

So in 2019, I started posting intentionally on LinkedIn.

That decision changed everything.

During the pandemic, I launched Klowt - a personal branding agency helping founders and leaders show up authentically online (and get paid doing it).

Since then, I’ve:

– Built a 7-figure business
– Been paid to speak on stages and podcasts around the world
– Got a book deal (it's a best-seller!)
– Launched a podcast
– Built a business on my terms that gave me freedom to live a life I actually love.

All from posting a few things on LinkedIn.

Building my personal brand meant I stopped begging for permission.

I had the audacity to show up, share my journey, and just f*cking post - no matter what anyone thought.

None of this happened overnight. 

I faced failures, setbacks, a messy divorce, and the challenges of building a a business whilst being a single mum. I messed up in ways I didn’t think I’d come back from. 

But I did, and so can you.

It took consistency - failing and learning, figuring out what works, and positioning myself correctly.

Even when it was uncomfortable.
Even when nobody was engaging with my content.

I can’t believe I’m FINALLY sharing this...

5 years ago, I quit my “safe” marketing job to go all-in on myself.

This guy left nasty comments on every single TikTok I posted. 
And what happened next… will shock you.

When I first started posting, TikTok felt fun. 
Then the trolls came.

And if you’ve ever been on TikTok, you’ll know… trolls there are built different.

They came for my hair, my makeup, my business - even the way my body looks.

But there was one that really stood out.

Greg.

Greg commented on everything. 
My personal favourite? ‘Get back in the kitchen.’

Original.

Now, most people would clap back, block him, or out him publicly.
But instead, I decided to have some fun.

I asked if his hobbies included cross-stitching. 
Told him he was clearly in love with me. 
Asked if he’d prefer to send flowers next time...

And what happened next shocked me. 

He stopped trolling. 
Then, he actually apologised. Publicly - on my post. 

And since then, we still have a love hate relationship but he’s never been mean to me again. 

Do I think my comments back to Greg were funny? Yes.
Do other people think I am funny on social media? Debatable. 

But the internet can be a very serious and miserable place - and if you laugh in real life, then you should laugh online too. 

Planable studied 3,600 social media posts and found that the ones that performed the best, all incorporated some kind of humour.

And humour is one of the strongest triggers of engagement on social media becuase;
- It grabs attention.
- Sparks amusmement.
- And people share the things that make them laugh with their friends. 

So whether you're replying with funny comments to trolls in your comment section, OR injecting it into your own content...

Humour sells! 

In fact, nearly 8 out of 10 people open to being converted by a joke. 

And having a good sense of humour won’t just win you followers - it might just turn your haters into one.

When I started my business at 30, my priority was clear:
Work. All of the time. 
As much of it as I could possibly take on.

Late nights. 
Early mornings. 
Sacrifices. 
Hustle.
HARD. 
Repeat.

Because that’s what we’re taught success looks like, right?

If you bust your butt for 7 years, and you scale really fast, build a team even faster, hit the market at just the perfect time... you get rich and happy. 

But my priorities have shifted quite a bit since then.

I don't measure success by how many hours I work.
I measure it by how many hours I don’t have to.
And how much more time I get with my family instead.

My goal now is simple: Build a business so efficient, so intentional, and so well-leveraged that I only need to work a few hours a day.

That’s it.

If I can do deep, focused work for four hours… then 
Do a Pilates class at 10am. 
1.30pm lunch with a friend. 
Jump on a few emails between catch up calls and the school run. 

I want a Wednesday that feels like a Saturday. 

That’s success.

Not more hours.
Not more stress.
Not more... just for the sake of it.

Just more life.

I launched my first course yesterday.
We sold 400 in the first few hours.

Here are the things we did that go against every marketing rulebook I’ve ever read.

1. We launched it at a 75% discount.

Yesterday, I live launched the course for just £19 on my weekly live show. Every marketer will tell you that devalues your offer - but I wanted to hit the highest number of purchases in the first 24 hours, to then get those people to complete the course and give us a testimonial as quickly as possible. We’ll turn them into ads + landing page social proof.

2. We ran ads for other products - not the course.

Most founders would chuck a bunch of money behind their launch, because it makes the most sense right? Well, we have a new ad account, and need to get them warmed up to me and my products. So we're running ads on my free stuff, and other digital products before putting money behind the course in Jan 2026.

3. We discounted for loyal, not new customers.

Brands give all "new" subscribers discounts on first purchases, we did the opposite. Only people who were signed up to my newsletter or attended my weekly show this week got the launch price of £19. The internet tells you to reward strangers - I wanted to thank the people who’ve supported me from day one.

And guess what? Almost everyone who joined the live bought the course. That weekly live has created real connection and energy you can’t replicate with pre-recorded content. It proved how powerful it is when your audience feels seen, involved, and part of something.

4. We priced it low.

My main competitors charge $200, $699, $6500. When I first started out, I didn't have that kind of cash. In fact, I didn't have any. I want to help as many people as possible build a profitable, personal brand - so we landed on £79. I priced for me, 6 years ago.

5. We emailed people every single day.

General rule of thumb is send a newsletter 1-3 times per week. We emailed every day. And every time we sent an email, we made a sale.

6. I vlogged the breakdowns.

I recorded this course 3 times. The first time it was scripted and in a studio and I hated it. Second time, I self-filmed at home, and it was out of focus. Third time, we only just completed the edits this week! I vlogged it all - and posted in real time. That authenticity won us trust and sales on launch day.

There is a tonne of stuff I would do differently next time - I’m already scripting the next one - but this launch proved something:

You don’t have to do things the “right” way for it to work.
