Meta's new Incremental Attribution is a game-changer for advertisers.

But most people are setting it up wrong.

Here's what actually matters: You can now combine incremental attribution with value-based bidding strategies like Cost Per Result Goal and ROAS Goal.

This wasn't possible before. Meta forced you into standard attribution when using value-based bidding. Now you get both.

**Why this combination is powerful:**

Standard attribution counts every conversion it can track. Someone sees your ad, buys later through organic search, and you get credit. But did your ad actually cause that purchase?

Incremental attribution uses machine learning to predict which conversions happened because of your ads, not despite them.

When you layer value-based bidding on top, you're telling Meta: "Only spend money on conversions that wouldn't have happened without advertising."

**The setup process:**

Campaign level: Choose Cost Per Result Goal or ROAS Goal under Campaign Bid Strategy.

Ad set level: Select your conversion event, set your target, then switch Attribution Model to "Incremental."

Incremental conversions will show higher costs per result. This isn't a bug. It's honesty.

Your standard attribution was giving you credit for sales that would have happened anyway. Incremental attribution strips that away and shows you the real impact of your advertising.

If you're optimizing for incremental conversions, you should increase your bid targets. You're now competing for harder-to-influence customers who genuinely need advertising to convert.

Think of it this way: Standard attribution optimizes for easy wins and organic traffic. Incremental attribution optimizes for actual advertising effectiveness.
