Currently performing monopropellant thruster experiments with a "green energy" propellant called "ASCENT." The long-term goal is to use the experimental results to improve current 1D models and eventually create our own transient 3D model based on variations in porosity, granule size, variations in the granule geometry, etc. ASCENT delivers a 50% increase in specific impulse density over the traditional state-of-the-art monopropellant Hydrazine. Furthermore, Hydrazine is highly toxic to humans and is easily combustible, so it's very costly and dangerous to handle and transport before launching to space. ASCENT, on the other hand, has nearly no vapor pressure since it's an ionic liquid and doesn't spontaneously combust as easily as Hydrazine during transport so it is much safer and cheaper to handle on the ground, in addition to its improved performance benefits. This research is sponsored by the Air Force Research Lab based out of Edwards Air Force Base in California.

Jacob is a 24 year old engineer, PhD Student, and short-form content creator. His PhD research involves studying spacecraft contamination and molecular transport, with the goal of eventually working on Lunar/Martian Dust/Contamination mitigation. 

As a side hustle, he's run a college consulting business where he has 54,000 and 109,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok and teaches students how to get into their dream college and grad school while doing so debt-free through the use of short-form content. He started college early at age 16 and has already obtained his first master's degree at 23. He graduated college debt-free and has a full-ride to grad school at USC for both of his Master's and his PhD.
