Hey, I'm Ruslan (you can call me Russ) 🙌

I'm one of the co-founders of Bluedot: The most accurate AI notetaker that captures both audio and video without any bots. We're backed by Google and compatible with Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Here is my story 👇

I used to work in sales and recruitment for almost 7 years at companies like N26. 

In 2019, my best friend Dima and I quit our jobs, and started our first business: a hiring platform to find & employ engineers in Europe. 

Once we scaled it to 15 consultants, our biggest pain was documenting all the conversations that our team had with clients and candidates. 

To solve our own problem, we shifted our focus and invested all the resources in building Bluedot. 

Building a software company turned out to be very different from building an agency. We failed up a lot. Learned a lot. And burned trough all our savings 💸💸💸

Thanks to Google for Startups, and our Angel Investors we kept going, and went live in late 2023. 

Today, Bluedot is profitable and used by 50,000+ companies including Netflix, Disney, Deel, Etsy, The New York Times, and others.

Building Bluedot: AI note taker that doesn’t join your meetings

What’s more important: product or marketing?

I debate this with Dima Eremin from time to time. X/LinkedIn is full of takes like: “marketing is the only thing that matters in the age of AI.”

A friend just came back after six months in SF and said that most founders he met there were focused on one thing: how to go viral on TikTok or Twitter. That’s the main goal -> product comes second.

Sure, you can sell people with a great ad promising to automate 99% of their work or 10x their sales pipeline. But if the product is bad, long-term churn will kill you. 

Maybe I’m old-school, but I believe you need a solid product that covers critical use cases and works reliably. At the same time, you should constantly experiment with different marketing channels and try to find a few that work for you.

But even if you never find a perfectly scalable channel, a good product combined with consistent effort over time will still get you somewhere.

What do you think?

I’ve never understood how some competitors claim they achieved SOC 2 and HIPAA in just a few weeks.

For us, it took 4 months and a lot of team effort just to reach the final certification stage. And for SOC 2 Type II, there’s an additional required observation period of at least 3 months.

I don’t see how this could be realistically done into a few weeks. No way. 

“SOC 2 in a few days” is a major 🚩🚩🚩

Be careful when choosing vendors.

Just met a friend who works as a Principal Engineer at a 1,000+ person US software company (7+ years on the market).

He personally spends $30K/month on Claude Code tokens and his team over $500K/month 🤯

They even have a leaderboard where people compete on usage.

He’s set up individual and team-wide “skills” (md files), and connected Claude to pretty much every internal tool.

What surprised me most: he couldn’t clearly say it makes him 10x more productive.But he did say it makes the work much smoother and more enjoyable.
