With the skills and experiences I gained as a headhunter and executive recruiter hiring for companies large and small, I have an informed perspective on what goes into an effective resume, interview, and job search strategy.

I made my first hires as the founder of a college startup. Several years later I ventured into the world of recruiting so I could learn how to hire more effectively. For nearly a decade, companies hired me to hire well on their behalf or to help them build systems and processes to hire more effectively as an enterprise.

With Korn Ferry (NYSE: KFY), as a member of the Global Technology Officer's practice, I hired C-Level Executives for some of the most prominent companies in the world in a retained exclusive executive search format. 

With Cardlytics (NASDAQ: CDLX), I had the opportunity to design a comprehensive hiring process, configure and implement the enterprise applicant tracking system (ATS), and hire the global Chief Technology Officer. After helping to prepare the enterprise to hire at scale, the company executed a successful IPO.

After Cardlytics, I served as General Manager of the Austin division of a headhunting firm where I trained, developed, and provided leadership to a team of 18 technical recruiters who hired for companies like Bloomberg, HBO, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Hulu, and ByteDance.

Reporting to the Senior Director of People Operations, responsible for hiring across the engineering side of the business. Hired the Chief Technology Officer, the Head of Product, Vice Presidents, Senior Directors, and Directors of Engineering, Principal and Senior Engineers, as well as Data Scientists and Analysts across the Engineering, Technology Services, R&D, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Analytics teams.

Contributed to the preparations for Cardlytics (NASDAQ: CDLX) to go public by rebuilding the Cardlytics engineering hiring process, independently implementing Greenhouse as the new Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and training the enterprise on how to use the new ATS and hiring process.

This recruiting experience helped me understand how to build an effective resume, search for a job efficiently, deliver outstanding interviews, and negotiate reasonable compensation packages.

So, I decided that I would try to help.

Reporting to the CMO, responsible for leading a 50-person team with the AVP of Insight Delivery and the Executive Directors of Business and Data Analytics, Modeling and Data Science, and a Data Governance Director as direct reports.

• Accountable for a $25m budget supporting USAA’s marketing analytics and data management platforms, data engineering, data governance, AI/ML modeling, and analytical tool sets, all directed towards the in-market optimization of USAA’s annual enterprise marketing and advertising budget.

• Led a broad legacy to cloud data platform modernization to create the foundation of a Unified Marketing Measurement (UMM) Ecosystem that enabled AI/ML based marketing performance attribution, last-touch channel performance measurement, and a robust suite of test and learn analytics capabilities.
- Implemented cross-channel digital marketing taxonomy for all campaign activity including TV and digital video performance analytics while also measuring search and phone conversions from national media. 
- This platform enabled consistent achievement of marketing objectives while reducing in-market spend by 17%. The UMM platform maintained greater than 98% forecast accuracy.

• In preparation for CCPA & CPRA led a team of marketing, privacy, legal, and compliance experts through the review and remediation of marketing databases, data governance procedures, vendor data contracts, and the marketing analytics and execution stack, ensuring compliance while maintaining scalability and accuracy.
- Implemented a compliant identity resolution capability enabling multi-touch attribution, audience targeting, and marketing analytics without relying on cookies.
- Established a suite of marketing data management procedures focused on compliant and secure data storage, tagging, and remediation capabilities across 5 legacy marketing data environments.

Vice President of Marketing Data and Analytics

Reporting to the Vice President of Member and Market Insights, responsible for building an 18-person team of Data Analysts, Experience Designers, and Research Analysts to modernize the member insights analytics and measurement platform, and to lead the development of USAA’s market research processes and infrastructure.

• Led the effort to modernize digital feedback capture capabilities throughout all of USAA’s products and services, enabling a higher volume of targeted and predictive insights as the utility and impact of surveys declined.
- Consolidated 6 experience measurement systems integrating feedback and operational data that enabled front end and back end reporting and analysis, a 2-year, $30m transformation.

• Developed and implemented a secure, scalable, and highly automated cloud based member feedback and customer insights platform, integrated with real-time call center and business process operations data, that proactively predicted NPS impacts from sub-optimal customer experiences for each product. 
- This platform achieved a 60% reduction in annual operating costs for customer experience measurement.

• Worked with Experience Owners to identify the 15 most impactful experiences across product suite. Developed automated, near real time customer feedback loops, segmented by critical issues and innovation opportunities.

• Led the development of the enterprise NPS program to measure, address, and improve customer experiences as the growth in membership had begun to put stress on the member services and customer support functions.  
- Partnered with Bain to establish a macro to micro measurement strategy, demonstrating cause and effect across each channel, experience, and product to inform targeted recommendations across the enterprise.

• Once operational, this enterprise NPS platform enabled USAA to address the most critical customer experiences facing the greatest operational pressure, with the potential to create the most significant brand impact.
