Dream jobs do exist! I am currently the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager at Just Associates, a feminist political project focused on building feminist movements through feminist popular education. More specifically, we mobilise, build and transform power so that womxn have collective power and agency to change social norms, policies, legislation and basically break the patriarchy, sexism, racism and capitalism. 

At JASS, my role is to continue to advocate for feminist MEL while thinking strategically about how to demonstrate the importance and impact of the work of my colleagues and the womxn we work with.

Through a unique partnership with customers and team members, the Cotton On Foundation is focused on empowering youth globally through the delivery of quality educational projects in Uganda, South Africa, Thailand and Australia. The Foundation partners with communities to break the poverty cycle through education, health, WASH, and employment.

With a team of three others, I work to support teams in Uganda, South Africa, Arnhem Land (NT) and the border region of Thailand/Myanmar to put together Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning agendas. I work strategically to ensure that the education provided by the Cotton On Foundation is of high-quality and the learning experience for children throughout their primary, secondary and university/vocational studies is holistic.

Marie Stopes International

Marie Stopes International is one of the largest global providers of sexual and reproductive health services. Women trust us to provide them with a full range of methods of contraception and safe abortion services/post-abortion care.

By increasing people’s ability to access sexual and reproductive health services where they live, we are able to help the 214 million women in the developing world who do not have access to modern forms of contraception. 

Marie Stopes International Australia is a regional support office for Marie Stopes International where we support 3 country programs- Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and Cambodia. 

My tasks included but were not limited to:

-New Business Development, program design and coordination of major institutional grants from foreign governments
-Coordinate and write papers on cross-cutting issues intersecting with sexual and reproductive health such as ending violence against women and climate change mitigation. 
-Submissions to parliamentary inquiries, management of advocacy in consortia and management of PR/Media inquiries 
-Management of external relations, program design and communications for individual givers, foundations and trusts, HNWI and small community grants
-Management and content creation for the Marie Stopes International Australia website and communications in all other digital and paper-based platforms
-Support for country programmes in advocacy, external relations and communications 

I am also currently managing a project (maternity cover) under DFAT's flagship 'Gender Action Platform' aimed at the delivery of innovative or transformational NGO projects that reduce violence against women, increase women's economic opportunities and improve leadership for and by women through collective action. The project is a multimillion dollar and cross-sector project implemented in consortia.

Women Deliver

As the recipient of a Women Deliver Youth Seed Grant, we established the Speaker Programs for Empowerment and Knowledge "SPEAK" Series. We wanted to connect more young people to advocacy opportunities in the SRH and Women's Health sector through panel events as well as networking events. Lastly, we have an advocacy workshop for young people to learn how to campaign for important reproductive health issues that affect women across Australia. We want more young people to be engaged, empowered and advocate for the important issues that affect them and their bodies.

YEAH (Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS)

The Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS (YEAH) is a not-for-profit, federally funded organisation founded in 2005. YEAH provides sexual health education to youth across Australia with the use of the peer-education model. YEAH is a unique organisation in the HIV/AIDS and sexual health sector providing education through workshops to all youth across Australia. 

Previously I held the position of the National Volunteer Coordinator but was promoted to manage the entire peer-education program and taking a more strategic role at the organisation. 

Key tasks:
-Management of the peer-education hub, an online platform for sharing peer-education tools in sexual health
-Use of the World Health Organization, train-the-trainer concept to write, implement and manage the peer-education program
-Event Management
-Resource Creation including resources for schools, for peer-educators as well as the education sector
-Liasing with the educational sector to provide services
-Report writing for board of directors and government
-Facilitation of partnerships

National Program Manager

As the National Volunteer Coordinator for YEAH, I was managing 120 volunteers across all of the Australian states and territories, creating and implementing train-the-trainer programs and producing resources to support them.

Key tasks:
-Creation and Implementation of a sustainable peer-education program
-Event Management

-Liaising with the educational sector to provide services
-Volunteer management and coordination for workshops and events

International AIDS Conference

The International AIDS Conference brings a large population together from around the world to discuss both the medical and social aspects of HIV and AIDS. 

My task as the Committee Chair of the Advocacy and Messaging group was to facilitate the creation of the messages of youth around the world. This also included the creation of the Youth Action Plan that was presented to the head of UNAIDS to represent what the youth wanted in the overall declaration.

Key Tasks:
-Polling youth around the world to ask them about the barriers they saw to an AIDS Free generation
-Creation of messaging and design for all youth including hoodies, postcards, badges etc. 
-Taking part in the youth pre-conference and creating the youth action plan
-Presenting the youth action plan

R.D. Silverstein

R.D. Silverstein is a solicitor in Melbourne. My tasks as his administrative assistant included various work in the law sector including lodging, writing and organising documents. I would often sit in on meetings with clients to better understand the cases.

-Computer tasks such as management of calendar and excel spreadsheets
-Going to court to lodge documents
-Visiting other government offices to lodge documents

Administrative Assistant

Women's Health Advocacy Foundation

The Women's Health Advocacy Foundation is an organization that provides information on sexual and reproductive health to young people in Thailand. WHAF advocates for better sexual and reproductive health information and services across Thailand. They also provide an online platform where Thai teenagers can come discuss their sexual and reproductive health issues in a safe place and get accurate information provide to them in return. 

During my time at WHAF, I was involved in providing information on birth control. I created content for different types of birth control. I also regularly attended meetings to discuss the ongoing reproductive health bill. 

Key Tasks:
-Resource creation 
-Discussion of ways to increase better sexual and reproductive health outcomes among young Thai people
-Website translation to English
-Attended conferences on sexual harassment at universities and other sexual health issues in Thailand

Intern

My feminism is intersectional. I am particularly interested in the link between systemic racism, capitalism, and negative health outcomes. I am interested in how colonialism and capitalism have impacted the health of communities, and how decolonisation can change health outcomes. As a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning manager, I believe in championing the success of interventions through the eyes of those who are leading them i.e. the constituents who lead and bring change in their own society. While this is often difficult in the current structure of international development, I do my best to uphold intersectional feminist standards.
