I did something a bit ridiculous this week-end

I stopped at the Kiosk, bought the Bilan Magazine, and started flipping through the pages right there. When I found my name, my picture, first a mention, then a longer piece where I talk about the challenge for future lawyers, I just stood there grinning.

I stopped an elderly man next to me and said "hey look am in the paper!". He was stunned by my excitement. At first surprised, then he saw I was genuinely happy. He looked at me with this kind of quiet contentment, asked me what I do to get there.

It's a small achievement. But it's my first time being visible in the papers. I get to share what I do, what I'm discovering, how the world is changing, and how I'm trying to put my small stone into it.

Do I still have imposter syndrome? Of course. But this time it didn't hit as hard. I respect my work. I'm happy to see the results of the many hours I've put in over the last years.

I then told all the people I saw that day and was so happy to show my little face in there 😬

Screens will shrink.

Voice will explode.

In 5 to 10 years, most professional work won't involve typing.

Here's why I bet my company on this:

Lawyers are verbal professionals.

They argue in court. They negotiate on calls. They think out loud.

Yet we force them to type for 4+ hours a day.

That's not a workflow.

That's a bottleneck.

The firms adopting voice first now aren't early adopters.

They're building muscle memory for what's coming.

Voice isn't a feature.

It's the future interface.

Always enjoyed great ads. 

When I was younger, I loved watching Culture Pub on M6: the best ads, every Sunday evening. Pure gold.

Today, Anthropic just dropped some absolute nuggets: ads against ads 🍿

They're making fun of their big competitor OpenAI, who just announced they'd start showing ads in ChatGPT (!!) - and they do it amazingly well.

While OpenAI is going the Google/Meta route with advertising revenue, Anthropic is doubling down on a simple message: "We make money from subscriptions and enterprise contracts. No ads. Ever."

Love it or hate it, you have to admit, the execution is brilliant 👀

I am an Intellectual Property lawyer with over a decade of experience working across technology and consumer sectors. My career began with training at a law firm in Porto, followed by several years in the IP departments of leading firms in Macau SAR (China) and Lisbon. That experience gave me strong technical grounding in IP and exposure to international perspectives. It also included litigation work, which helped me develop the ability to assess risks quickly, understand broader dynamics, and approach IP with a strategic mindset.

I later served as General Counsel in a tech start-up, working closely with leadership and teams across product, marketing, and operations. That role showed me how legal advice works best when it is practical, collaborative, and embedded into the daily decision-making of a business.

My focus now is on the intersection of IP and artificial intelligence. AI is already changing how businesses innovate, protect, and enforce their intangible assets, and I am interested in how it can support more efficient portfolio management, brand protection, and enforcement strategies.

I enjoy working in environments where legal and business goals align, and where IP can support growth as much as it provides protection. I bring the discipline of law firm training, the perspective of in-house practice, and a forward-looking view on how technology — especially AI — will continue to transform the way companies safeguard and grow their intangible assets.
