Every January comes with big goals.

But if last year taught me anything, it’s this:
progress rarely comes from dramatic change.
It comes from fixing basics.

(Note: AI only works when fundamentals are right.)

So, what are these basics? 
Impractical basics that we haven't been seeing, or even uncomfortable basics we’ve been avoiding, like missing steps in a process or messy processes.

I’m going into this year with fewer promises and more focus on
doing the work that *actually* compounds. 

Like fixing broken processes that just miss a few steps in the middle somewhere. 

To illustrate..
this morning, other group participants and I were reminded of the need to put all important group meetings in our main calendar, ... but the steps on HOW to do this were not there.

Whenever I talk to end-users of Salesforce or other systems, I observe many tiny skill or knowledge gaps that stops them from doing a process all together! 

A process like keeping their main calendars up-to-date so they won't miss group meetings.

By providing 3 tiny step-by-step photos and a 'plain English' explanation on how to get all events into Google automatically, the request became easily actionable by everyone. 

Cost me 10 min. 
Seems like 'nothing'.  

But it is these kind of tweaks that will make all the difference, e.g. in people showing up for the next event! Because it's not in their calendar, so it does not exist, right?!   (Maybe this explains why meeting attendance to-date has been low?!)

So, that's my focus for the year.

Today's post is a great tip for my solo-entrepreneur and micro-business friends and followers: how to get a FREE CRM.

Salesforce now has a ** free ** version! And it’s really useful for solo entrepreneurs, micro-business, and even not-so-tiny businesses which are still without a proper CRM system currently.

I know it'll be useful, because I've actually been that solo-entrepreneur before.
And have experienced first hand, that when you're on your own - even with an assistant - your “CRM” is a very fancy word for: scattered notes, half-forgotten follow-ups, and deals you meant to get back to.

The thing is, this "CRM" may actually work well-enough right up until the time that your business is gaining momentum. Then everything becomes a mess.

So, why not begin the year right and get your own Salesforce Free Suite org? It lets you put real systems, and good habits in place before things get messy.

Obviously, you won't get all the bells and whistles that an Enterprise Salesforce client with Agentforce gets. But you know what? These basics will keep your deals moving, let you remind yourself who you've chatted with, what the next steps are to be, and more.

While the word 'free' may entice you, in reality, the value will come from the fact that it will free up your mind for creative client solutions and managerial work, as all those details about each account: they'll be in the database!

And trust me on this: it will feel like a relief, and you'll be really proud of yourself, when you've got it all set up and working for you.

Most solo founders organise after they miss opportunities.
This lets you do it now, before regret.

When you'll get more leads, you just pop them all into your Salesforce Free Suite. No headaches or overwhelm; nothing falls through the scratch. 

You will start to think about your business differently, and become more planning-oriented, rather than reactive to client requests mostly.

Tip-Solo-Entrepreneurs-Free-Salesforce-CRM

I'm working with a small company working out what their AI adoption should be like: what to adopt, why, how, etc. So, I thought to share some of my insights.

As AI can do many things, Salesforce has put AI in every corner of its platform, and created examples of 'how it could be used' with some technical challenges 'worked out', like Sales AI, Salesforce Foundations, SDR Agents, Sales Engagement.

From my POV, AI adoption may therefore sound like a technology challenge, but in practice it’s first and foremost an organisational one.

Gartner predicts that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by the end of 2027 — largely because they fail to demonstrate business value or operate without proper governance. Now, if these were mere experiments, than that could be ok.

But, another Gartner finding explains that up to 60% of AI initiatives will be abandoned through 2026 when they’re built on data that isn’t AI-ready. That matches exactly what I see in my work.

To get an AI programme that progresses, the team probably got these 5 things right:

1. Instead of starting with an AI tool (aka Salesforce product), they start with a business decision they like to improve with AI: addressing a customer pain point, building the company's competitive advantage'.

2. They "fix" the data owners before the data itself. Clean data without ownership never stays clean and fresh; data drifts.

3. Smart teams do the boring parts first, like enhancing processes, and add automation instead of AI where that makes sense. AI-layered on top of broken manual processes just creates confusion or cost.

4. Good AI teams design for trust, rather than intelligence. What I mean to say is that if your users don’t trust the AI outputs, adoption falls flat. — no matter how good your model is. So, you have to put all the instructions, access to data, and guardrails in place - and test it- so that the AI does what it's intended to do.

And last, 5. I think that strong AI teams treat AI as 'a new capability' rather than merely a project. Put differently, AI should become structural, and be managed with a setup for ongoing governance. And yes, that beats impressive pilots.

When teams skip any of these steps, AI doesn’t necessarily 'fail obviously', btw. It's just that it doesn't operate in tandem with the workforce's work needs (any longer). For example: you might have seen my video on 'data drift'. So, in that case your AI answers no longer gave the 'hoped-for results', and somehow 'seemed off'. If that's the case, AI does not get used any longer, and eventually budgets get re-allocated somewhere else.

Be a company that's not chasing the newest agents or models. Instead,
