I went up a mountain.
Screaming. Crying. I was broken.
Everything was falling apart.
Financial ruin. The debt. Loss of loved ones.

I thought: everyone would be better off without me, everything was imploding in on me.

I'd built things. Lost things.

Watched as a company ran out of money.

On the verge of bankruptcy

Couldn't pay my mortgage.

And on that mountain, for the first time, nothing else mattered.
The world was coming in on top of me.

And as I stood there screaming into the sky, what the hell!!!
Suddenly, it hit me like a flash of light.

And a feeling came over me, the voice in my head whispered, everything would be okay.

When we think "Michelin Star," we think: Absolute perfection. Top chef.
Excellence.
And here's what I learned from it.

Because to earn a Michelin Star, a restaurant has to meet a certain criteria.

But here's where it started:
In 1900, Michelin (a tyre company) created a small guidebook to encourage people to travel more (so they'd buy more tyres).

Restaurants were later added. Then graded.

It wasn't about prestige.
It was a practical guide.

But over time, that guide became the standard for excellence.

Now, when someone says "Michelin Star," they're not asking for directions.
They're asking for greatness.

Here's the question for your business:

Your company is doing well. Making money. Established in your industry.

Operations: systemized.
Finance: controlled.
Delivery: engineered.

I'm an ambivert. 
It took me a while to even know that word existed.

I don't like being the centre of attention. I prefer one-on-one conversations over a room full of people. I recharge alone, not in a crowd.

It probably wasn’t the price, the product, or the competition, and deep down you knew.


Have you ever walked out of a meeting or a demonstration where you felt it was okay, but something wasn’t right, there wasn’t a gel?

Then afterwards, when you’re preparing everything else, it seems a little bit off. Maybe it feels like an uphill battle.

Then there are other meetings you come out of, and you’re excited. You feel things are going to be really good, and you have that strong feeling the deal is going to happen.

What’s the difference?

The difference is energy. A feeling of compatibility. A sense that you really got each other, there was a deep understanding on both sides.

What’s the difference between both meetings?

The first meeting is hope.
The second meeting is positive energy.

If you sit back and look at what happened in the meetings, something may have been said that caused a discord, a pushback, or a realisation from the buyer.
