I dream big, do work, and have fun. 

At LinkedIn I became the top rep in the world setting records unmatched, and named MVP during an epic 18 month sales year. I delivered  $500,000,000 net to LinkedIn. I did it without losing my soul.

Much of my success was based on a building a trusted personal brand. I spent years attempting to visually tell my story, and almost gave up. Then I started using Canva. It became almost like cheating. People were excited to see what ideas I came up with and I could really devote my energy to creating mutual success. 

My best sales year at LinkedIn was when I abandoned Powerpoint and started using Canva. So, joining the Strategic Sales team at Canva for me is a dream come true.

Coincidence? Nope. I finally found a way to tell a story and really convince customers to dream big, not just spend money with LinkedIn.

Now I'm on the other side of the table, selling what people think is "just a consumer design tool" to the enterprise. 

I am watching Fortune 500 teams realize they can move at the speed of creativity, performance marketers can catapult ROAS, and sales teams can get more creative without the "brand police" calling!

Coach K wrote about "shared confidence" in his book—the idea that when one person believes, it lifts the entire team. That's exactly what I'm seeing here...

We're not just building a new sales org; we're building something that makes people more productive and successful.

The real MVP? This team.

We have a crazy big dream that by the end of our lifetimes, everyone on this planet will have their basic human needs met. Canva 🩷

A few years ago, we shared our 2 Step Plan:

1. Build one of the world’s most valuable companies
2. Do the most good we can do

We have a crazy big dream: that by the end of our lifetimes, everyone on this planet will have their basic human needs met. It’s terribly sad that this is still considered a crazy big dream, but thanks to the support of our community, the Canva Foundation is committing another $100 million USD to support people living in extreme poverty to take another step towards this.

Since 2021, our partnership with GiveDirectly has provided $50 million in direct cash transfers to more than 85,000 people in Malawi. Families have used this support to send children to school, access healthcare, start small businesses, and invest in livestock and tools that help create long-term security. Each story is different, but all prove a simple truth: when people are trusted to decide what they need most, the impact is extraordinary.

This new $100 million commitment will reach another 185,000 people, helping families transform their lives, while creating ripple effects that strengthen entire communities. It is, without a doubt, the best money we could ever imagine spending.

I was instrumental in creating "Client Concierge", the arm of McKinney that makes clients feel as "wowed" the 30th time they enter our building as they did the very first time.  I am very involved in new business - from the first contact, to arranging all of the client experiences, to going the extra mile to take it over the finish line for the win.  I remind the CEO and the Chairman of everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and all dates of importance, be they happy or sad.  I represent the Office of the Chairman and CEO in all that I do.

I. Love. People.  I'm insanely curious about people - where they came from, what they hope for, what they dream about, who they love and what legacy they want to leave behind.  I've been insanely lucky for almost half my life to spend it around amazing, creative, brilliant, funny and insanely talented people.

When I'm not eating, drinking, breathing and sleeping Brand McKinney, I am hanging out with my three favorite people: my husband and my 20-year-old twins (when they have time for me!)  In my "spare" time, I'm planning someone's dream vacation or wedding! Or I'm reading, singing, traveling or dreaming about traveling!

Exhilarated, excited and EXHAUSTED after a week in New York for Advertising Week.  So. Many. Learnings (and marvelous coffees, catch-ups, lunches and dinners!)  The biggest takeaway (for me) is that AI is NOT going to "eat" your creativity or your creative teams.  The calculator didn't eliminate accountants - but it sure made them faster and more accurate.  EVERYONE in our industry - brand AND agency side - is trying to figure it out. "Optimization is the enemy of innovation" is certainly something to consider.  

Also (and perhaps most importantly) - young people who may be frustrated in your job search - TAKE HEART!  We NEED you in this business.  We need your fresh ideas and your media and cultural savvy.  You are our future - and I'm so excited about what you will bring to our metaphoric marketing table.

Picture that does NOT do anywhere NEAR justice of our amazing offices at McKinney.  Every time I walk into the office, and in every corner in which I turn, I am left breathless.  Happy Fri-yay y'all!

Fantastic Day One at Advertising Week with my awesome colleage Chandra Guinn!  Loved hearing the inspiring speakers at The Female Quotient lounge (thanks for #mistakesthatmademeamillionaire - excited to read it!).  Really leaned into the sessions; so much information and learnings to absorb.  

But at the CORE - even though everything is AI focused - is the eternal truth that REFUSE TO BE IGNORED creativity and strategy are really the anchors that lead brands into greatness.   Not one off "stunts" and all kinds of new media and gaming (while they can be enormously helpful) - but long term creativity - strategy with legs that continue to build brand awareness and loyalty.  

Looking forward to more learnings on Day Two!
