The day I realized “work-life balance” was a lie…

…I stopped trying to split myself in half.

For years, I chased this idea that there was some perfect formula - a way to evenly divide my time between work and life, business and rest, ambition and stillness.

I tried color-coded calendars.
I tried waking up at 5am.
I tried productivity hacks.

And I still felt off.

Not because I wasn’t “disciplined enough.”

But because I was chasing balance when what I actually needed was alignment.

Here’s the difference:

🌀 Balance says: “Turn off your business brain at 5pm.”
🔥 Alignment says: “Design your work around your energy.”

🌀 Balance says: “Don’t work on weekends.”
🔥 Alignment says: “Take Monday off and build your dream on a Sunday if you feel inspired.”

🌀 Balance forces you into boxes.
🔥 Alignment gives you rhythm, flow, and freedom.

Once I let go of the rigid rules and leaned into self-awareness, everything changed.

💡 I stopped punishing myself for being a night owl.
💡 I started batching tasks around my energy spikes.
💡 I gave myself permission to rest without guilt - and create with fire when it felt right.

Your business doesn't need more ideas.

It needs fewer priorities.

I used to think the path to growth was adding:

→ More offers 
→ More platforms 
→ More funnels 
→ More content 
→ More, more, more

And every time I added, I got busier.

But I didn't get richer.

I was spreading myself so thin that nothing had the energy to actually work.

Here's how I shifted my mindset:

I stopped asking "what else can I do?"
I started asking "what should I stop doing?"

Subtraction became my growth strategy.

I cut offers that weren't converting. I
I left platforms that weren't serving me. 
I simplified funnels that were overengineered. 
I said no to opportunities that looked good but didn't feel aligned.

And something counterintuitive happened:

Revenue went up. 
Time went down. 
Clarity went through the roof.

The women who scale to 7 figures don't do more than everyone else.

They do less, with more intention.

Here's a simple exercise:

Look at everything in your business right now.

Ask: "If I could only keep 3 things, what would they be?"

Then ask: "What would happen if I cut the rest?"

Your business doesn't need more complexity.

It needs more conviction about what actually matters.

Focus is the strategy.

Not because comfort is bad.

Because comfort has a hidden cost.

The cost of the business you didn't build because it felt too risky.

The cost of the price you didn't raise because you were afraid of rejection.

The cost of the year you spent "thinking about it" instead of doing it.

I stayed comfortable longer than I should have.

The question isn't "am I comfortable?"

The question is "what is this comfort costing me?"

Your future self is waiting.

Most business advice wasn't designed for women.

And I didn't realize how much this was costing me until I burned out building my first 7-figure business.

The frameworks I followed were built on assumptions that didn't fit my life:

→ "Hustle harder" (while managing a household and relationships) 
→ "Scale fast" (without acknowledging hormonal cycles or energy fluctuations) → "Sacrifice now, enjoy later" (as if later is guaranteed) 
→ "Be aggressive" (while being penalized for the same behavior that's praised in men)

I followed the playbook. 
I hit the numbers.
And I felt emptier than when I started.

Here's what I've learned since:

Women don't need to scale like men to succeed.

We need frameworks that account for:

→ Capacity, not just strategy 
→ Sustainability, not just hustle 
→ Integration, not just determination 
→ Nervous system regulation, not just revenue optimization

The most successful women I work with aren't playing the same game as everyone else.

They've rewritten the rules entirely.

Take my friend Jenna for example who is running her wildly successful business from a small town in Minnesota.

And who protects time with her husband and two daughters fiercely. 

Jenna has built a sustainable business that funds her life, not consume it.

She scales with systems, not self-sacrifice. 

She leads with clarity, not constant hustle.

If the advice you're following leaves you exhausted, resentful, or burned out, it's not that you're doing it wrong.

It's that you're following a roadmap that was never built with you in mind.

There's another way.

And it works.

I've built several 7-figure businesses and one 8-figure company.

Here's what I'd do different the second time around:

1. Waiting until I felt ready.

I spent months "preparing" when I should have been learning by doing. Readiness is a myth. 
Start messy.

2. Trying to serve everyone.

My first offers were too broad. 
The riches really are in the niches. 
When I got specific about who I served, everything got easier.

3. Building in isolation.

I thought I had to figure it all out alone. 
Joining a mastermind and finding mentors compressed years into months.

4. Overcomplicating funnels.

I built elaborate 47-step sequences when a simple offer and clear message would have converted better.  Complexity is a hiding place.

5. Hiring for skills over alignment.

The most talented people destroyed my peace when values didn't match. Culture fit isn't optional, it's essential.

6. Chasing launches over evergreen.

Launch culture kept me on a revenue rollercoaster. 
Building evergreen systems gave me predictable income and my sanity back.

7. Ignoring my capacity.

I scaled faster than my nervous system could handle. 
The business grew, but I burned out. 
Sustainable scaling means growing yourself as fast as your business.

8. Undercharging for too long.

I was afraid of being "too expensive." 
Meanwhile, I was attracting clients who didn't value the transformation. 
Price is a filter.

Every mistake taught me something.

But if I could hand this list to my younger self, I'd save years of learning the hard way.

Maybe it saves you some time too.

When people ask how I built an 8-figure brand, they expect me to say:


→ Funnels

And yes, those things mattered.

But they weren’t the foundation.

What actually built my business?

→ Emotional resilience: Showing up even when the launch flopped.

→ Self-trust: Making decisions without needing 12 people to validate them first.

→ Intuition: Knowing when to pivot, even when the numbers said “stay the course.”

→ Nervous system capacity: Holding big wins and big fear at the same time.

None of that was on my resume.
None of that was taught in my degrees.

But it’s the reason I’m still here.

Are you lacking skills?

Or are you undervaluing the ones that don’t come with a certificate?

Because the soft skills?

They’re what carry you through the hard seasons.

And the best part?

You’ve already been building them your whole life.

The fastest-growing CEOs I know make decisions in 24 hours or less.

Not because they're reckless.

Because they understand something most entrepreneurs miss:

Decision velocity is a competitive advantage.

Every day you spend "thinking about it" is a day your business stays exactly where it is.

I used to overthink everything.

Should I launch this offer? 
Should I hire this person? 
Should I raise my prices? 
Should I pivot this strategy?

I'd spend weeks gathering opinions, running scenarios, waiting for certainty.

And you know what that got me?

Exhaustion. 
Missed opportunities. 
Stalled growth.

Here's what changed:

I realized that most decisions are reversible.

You can adjust the offer. 
You can part ways with the hire. 
You can lower the price if needed. 
You can pivot again.

But you can't get back the time you spent deliberating.

Now I use a simple filter:

→ Will this matter in 5 years? If no, decide now. 
→ Is this reversible? If yes, decide now. 
→ Do I have 70%-80% of the information I need? If yes, decide now.

Perfectionism disguises itself as wisdom.

But it's usually just fear.

The people who are most successful aren't the ones who make perfect decisions.

They're the ones who make decisions and then make them work.

Speed wins. 

Move.

Here's a question that will tell you everything about the state of your business:

What happens to your revenue when you stop posting?

If the answer is "it stops too", that's important information.

It means your business runs on you, not on systems.

And a business that depends entirely on your presence isn't a scalable business. 

It's a very demanding job.

What I want for every entrepreneur I work with is a business that has a wheel turning underneath it. 

One that doesn't stop spinning the moment you step away.

→ Funnels that generate leads while you sleep 
→ Email sequences that nurture and convert without you writing daily 
→ An offer that sells because the system behind it is strong

Content is traffic. 
It is not your sales engine.

The engine is what runs when you're not there.

Building that takes time. 

But it's the most important work you'll do.

I've seen entrepreneurs spend months refining an offer no one has bought yet.

Building the sales page before the first sale. 
Designing the curriculum before the first client. 
Waiting for certainty before taking the step.

Here's what I know to be true:

You cannot optimize what doesn't exist yet.

The data that will make your business great only comes from launching it. 
From watching real people move through your funnel. 
From seeing where they drop off, what they love, and what still needs work.

→ Launch with what you have 
→ Watch the numbers 
→ Improve based on evidence, not assumption

This is how every strong business is actually built.
Not in private, in market.

Done and in-market beats perfect and invisible every single time.

Emotional regulation.

7 years ago, I was a chiropractor in the UK earning 5 figures.

In most businesses I audit, 80% of revenue comes from 1–2 offers.

When your data shows you which offer is generating the majority of your revenue, the decision becomes simple:

→ Stop spreading effort across offers that aren't converting 
→ Invest your energy into penetrating your market with what already works 
→ Build awareness around your strongest offer until you become the go-to name for it

The other offers don't disappear. 

They just stop competing for your attention.

As your visibility grows around your core offer, the others begin to benefit too.

But you won't know which offer deserves that investment until you track the data.

Simplicity isn't a limitation. 
It's a growth strategy.

I was leading a multi-7-figure business.

I'd been featured in Forbes.
I'd spoken on stages with Tony Robbins. 
I'd interviewed Jay Shetty for our podcast.

I had a team, a community, and revenue most people dream about.

And I often still felt like a fraud.

Every time I posted, I waited for someone to call me out. 
Every time I launched something new, I braced for rejection. 
Every time I stepped into a room of successful people, I wondered when they'd realize I didn't belong.

Here's what I've learned about imposter syndrome:

It doesn't disappear at a certain revenue milestone.

You don't wake up one day at 7 figures and suddenly feel "enough."

The voice that says "who do you think you are?" follows you to every level.

What changes isn't the voice.
What changes is your relationship to it.

I stopped trying to silence the doubt. 
I started acting despite it.

I stopped waiting to feel confident. 
I started collecting evidence that I was capable.

I stopped asking "am I ready?" 
I started asking "am I willing to figure it out?"

The women I work with who scale the fastest aren't the ones without fear.

They're the ones who've learned to move with fear instead of against it.

Imposter syndrome isn't a sign you're in the wrong room.

It's a sign you're growing into who you're becoming.

There was a season in my business where I kept asking the wrong question.

I kept asking: 

What should I do more of?

When the data was telling me something completely different.

When I finally looked at my numbers, really looked at them, one thing was clear.

The highest conversion rates came every time I spoke on someone else's stage.

Not from social media. 
Not from email campaigns.

From speaking.

So instead of adding more to my plate, I did one thing:

I built a speaking funnel.

→ A clear message that opened doors to the right rooms 
→ A follow-up system that converted listeners into leads 
→ A way to track exactly how many clients came from each event

The energy was the same. 
The output doubled.

That's the difference between growing harder and growing smarter.

Your data already knows where your best growth is coming from.

The question is: are you paying attention to it?

MONDAY: Vision & Priorities

→ Review the week's top 3 priorities (not 10—just 3) 
→ 15-minute CEO Sync with my calendar 
→ Clear anything that doesn't serve this week's focus

TUESDAY: Deep Work
→ Content creation or strategic projects 
→ No meetings before noon 
→ Phone on airplane mode until 12pm

WEDNESDAY: Team & Communication
→ Team syncs and check-ins 
→ Review metrics and dashboards 
→ Address any fires (there are fewer than you'd think when systems are tight)

THURSDAY: Growth & Relationships
→ Podcast interviews or collaborations 
→ Strategic calls with partners or advisors 
→ Masterclass creation or community engagement

FRIDAY: CEO Time
→ Reflect on what worked and what didn't 
→ Plan next week's priorities 
→ Admin cleanup and inbox zero

What makes this work:

→ 80% of my week runs on SOPs and systems 
→ My team knows what they own 
→ I protect deep work time ruthlessly 
→ I batch similar tasks together 
→ I say no to almost everything that isn't aligned

The goal isn't to be busy.

The goal is to be effective.

A clear rhythm means I'm never scrambling. 

I know exactly what needs my attention and what doesn't.

Structure creates freedom.

Steal this framework. 

Adapt it to your life.

You don't need more hours, you need a better rhythm.

There was a version of my business where everything ran through me.

Every sale. 
Every decision. 
Every piece of content.

I thought that was what dedication looked like.

What it actually looked like was a ceiling.

Because a business that depends on you as the engine will only ever grow as fast as you can personally move.

And that's not a business. 

That's a bottleneck you've built around yourself.

The shift happened when I stopped asking "how do I do this?" and started asking "how does this get done without me?"

→ Funnels that run in the background 
→ Systems that convert while I'm not online 
→ A team with clear KPIs who own their outcomes, not just their tasks

It wasn't just a business change.

It was an identity change.

I had to let go of being the one who touched everything. 

And trust that the business I'd built was strong enough to stand on its own.

That's when it started to actually scale.

The goal was never to be indispensable.

The goal was to build something that didn't need me to be.
