The 2008 financial crisis sent my career on an unexpected trajectory…

Science and medicine were once just passing interests. (I never imagined they would become my purpose.)

Fast forward through years in pharma, biotech, diagnostics, medical devices, and clinical research… and I now have the privilege of working alongside some of the smartest, most dedicated people on the planet.

Today, art and science feel inseparable in what I do. And I’m grateful that what once felt like a setback revealed a path I love.

Questar was a new venture. That means everyone got to truly fulfill their advertising birthright, e.g., create. More than create work. Create a culture, create a space. Create something that had never been done before. Heady stuff to wake up to every morning.

Sawtooth was really a hidden gem during this period. Some big consumer brands with impressive TV exposure. And a nice mix of smarts and creativity. The name always intrigued which rarely failed to get a conversation going.

PULL UP A CHAIR

Growing up, my kitchen table was filled nightly with bountiful and delicious sustenance (translation: my mother was a great cook). But the table was more than a place for eating and laughing, of which we did plenty. Both my parents were professional creative people and, as such, I had many an art lesson after the coffee cake was taken away. Sometimes it was painting, sometimes cartooning, and sometimes just learning the basics of composition using salt and pepper shakers. I’ve been capturing dozens of these stories in a book and it’s time I started to show it around and see what people think.  Because if you can’t stand the heat, it’s time to get out of the kitchen.
