Sea Grant Extension Agent at the University of Florida: SE Clean Boating Coordinator

Florida Department of Environmental Protection

Environmental Specialist responsible for coordinating the Clean Boating Program (formerly the Sustainable Initiatives Office) in the Southeastern region of Florida state. 
•	As a member of the Florida DEP's Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection, my duties include providing assistance with preparing resiliency plans for marinas, boatyards, and boat retailers to strengthen their ability to withstand natural and man-made disasters, such as hurricanes, algal blooms, and sea level rise.
•	Conducts site visits at boating facilities such as military and civilian marinas, boatyards, and marine retailers to provide technical support and compliance assistance for the Clean Marina and Clean Vessel Act Programs. 
•	Acting regional liaison between marine facilities and Florida state officials in assisting with submitting applications for Pump-Out Grants under the CVA program. 
•	Attends and conducts workshops, outreach events, and conferences to promote Best Management Practices that minimize environmental impacts from boating facilities on the surrounding environment.

Marine Energy Collegiate Competition - 
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Water Power Technologies Office will virtually host the inaugural Marine Energy Collegiate Competition (MECC), challenging interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate and graduate students to propose unique solutions for the burgeoning marine energy industry that can help power the blue economy.
Fifteen teams, comprising undergraduate and graduate students, answered the call to participate, putting their heads together to develop innovative marine energy solutions to power the Blue Economy.
These groundbreaking competitors will put their creativity and know-how to the test, developing marine energy solutions for next-generation technologies such as autonomous vehicles to advance ocean exploration, battery and fuel cell technology for marine transportation, desalination to serve coastal and island communities, offshore renewable energy and alternative fuels, and more.

Managed a group of diversified personnel in maintaining the safety of all the organization's employees, constituents and patrons on a 16.3 acre campus.
•	Improved the departments on time personnel performance by 97 percent and reduced negative personnel performance by 80 percent.
•	Streamlined the communication process between senior management and rank & file by establishing flow through chanels within the department and centralizing communication protocols for constituents outside the department.

Provided administrative and clerical support to the lead marketing manager directly under the Director of Marketing and the Vice President of Marketing as part of an internship for my associate degree. 
•	Created a marketing campaign designed to expand and capture the non-traditional demographic in the market segment to reach a more diverse audience.
•	In order to cut costs, I researched any necessary data in readily available database sources and only used commercial sources when low cost options were extremely limited. 
•	Designed and created a data base containing all of the available and pertinent communication platforms with their point of contact information, also developed and maintained a relationship with these contacts.
