As of 2023, Centus has helped over 150 leading brands build their influencer programs and has paid out over $100m to over 5,000 independent content creators.

As Managing Director, I ran the business and reported directly to the Founder. I oversaw our team of 30 people across Ireland, the US, and Europe. 

I had six direct reports across our departments; planning, buying, campaigns, sales, people & finance

Managing Director

Transitioned into the role of Account Director after 18 months operating as an AM. The main roles and tasks I carry out on a day-to-day basis include, but are not limited to:

→ Managing and overseeing all DTC brand accounts at a strategic level.
→ Leading the Account Management team (4) - who manage the clients, and the Campaigns Team (6) - lead the execution of 300+ campaigns each month across 25+ brands.
→ Leading the recruitment for both teams, and assisting the MD with hiring across the wider business.
→ Liaising with each team to help our clients hit their month-on-month advertising spend targets but also ensuring we're doing so while achieving their CPA goals.

Account Director

Transitioned into the role of Senior Account Manager after 6 months as AM. The main roles and tasks I carry out on a day-to-day basis include, but are not limited to:

→ Managing and overseeing all B2C brand accounts at a strategic level.
→ Leading a team of six people, who manage and execute on 100's of campaigns each month across 25+ brands.
→ Assisting the MD in the recruitment of new team members for roles on both the Brand and Sales sides of the business.
→ Liaising with brands to hit their month-on-month advertising spend targets, but ensuring we're also doing so while achieving their CPA goals.
→ Establishing and tracking both the company and individual KPIs.

Senior Account Manager

Centus is a performance-based influencer marketing agency. We help direct-response brands acquire new customers through YouTube and Instagram in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

As an Account Manager, the key day-to-day tasks included, but were not limited to:

→ Strategizing with global DTC brands to create YouTube and Instagram sponsorships that bring in high-performance results
→ Planning with creators and talent agencies to produce successful, high-quality integrations
→ Creating briefs for brands that creators use to develop their content and integrations.
→ Managing brands utilizing 7-figure advertising budgets, and reporting month-on-month to ensure acquisition targets are hit as effectively as possible.

Fliplet is an enterprise mobile app creation and management solution that enables organisations to streamline business processes and improve communication effectively.

As Content Marketing Manager, my main task was to ensure that Fliplet was educating organisations on the topic of enterprise mobility to ensure they understood the importance and influence that mobile strategy would have on their growth going forward.

A summary of typical daily tasks included but was not limited to the following:

→ Creation and management of content marketing editorial calendar
→ Taking the lead on keyword research and making recommendations based on targets (edit: Organic traffic rose by 97% during my time as content manager)
→ Entirely responsible for community management and social promotional activity
→ Using Google Analytics to produce reports on content performance and making strategic recommendations for improvement
→ Supporting the creation of high-quality content, internally.

MyFamilyClub is a website that aims to help families with children of all ages to save, manage and make money.

Focused on the digital marketing channel of the company. That being said I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of elements within the business.

→ Managed the social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest) consisting of a 125,000 user community
→ Created an effective mix of viral, evergreen, and informative content on a daily basis
→ Maintained and updated the affiliate traffic/accounts weekly, driving traffic to the site through appropriate SEO and relevant content
→ The compilation of monthly reports gave me an opportunity to analyse how the business was performing and WHY. 
→ A solid understanding of e-mail marketing and newsletters, leading campaigns reaching over 250,000 users.
→ Direct involvement in business growth and development introduced me to the fundamentals of growth marketing and hacking.

In 2025, I saw way too many posts on here saying how bad LinkedIn is. How awful the reach is, etc. 

It does nothing, serves nobody, and doesn't help you do anything meaningful for your business

Nothing wrong with the odd rant, but come on!

My view?

On the flip side, there are countless people producing interesting, useful, insightful, and genuinely helpful content on this platform

Of course, my world is the marketing & advertising agency space.

So, here are people who I think have done a great job of actually sharing things that will help agency owners:

a) Grow their agency
b) Run their agency with more confidence & clarity

I'm likely missing hundreds of great people, so feel free to tag anyone who isn't here that you think should be.

I've tried to stick to people that I've at least engaged with or spoken to at some point and/or I see regularly posting on LinkedIn (that's the whole point of this list, really!)

I spent most of my 20s trying to be a morning person

You know the type!

Up at 5 am. Cold plunge. Gym. 

Starting work before the average Joe even opens their eyes.

I'd manage it for a couple of weeks… Then stop.

Because:

a) I don't actually like mornings
b) I was only doing it because someone on Instagram said I should

Classic case of trying to live someone else's life.

Fast forward a few years. I became a dad 

And now?

Well, you'd never believe it...

I'm up between 4:30 and 5:30 every day

No cold plunges, mind you.

Sometimes I wake up later, and I'll be welcomed by a little foot in the face

That's fine too.

5:30 to 8.30 am is family time now. Getting the kids fed, dressed, out the door.

Wouldn't change it for the world.

Funnily enough, I used to beat myself up about not being a "morning person"

Turns out I love it when I get to do certain things!

I don't have a magic wand. I can't help agency owners turn things around overnight. But if this year has proven anything to me, it's...

1. Most agencies encounter that same blocker at some point between 500k and 1.5m revenue

2. Most agency owners at that stage are, in fact, the blocker

3. Most of those owners who are a blocker, aren't prioritising what's a) right for the agency, and b) right for them

With virtually every client (over the last 2.5 years, not just this year), I've found myself helping them figure out:

- What they need to STOP doing

It doesn't matter what the agency does, or who the owner is/what their background is

It's the most common thing I've come across since I started this whole advisory/coaching gig

It takes, 5-10 minutes a day to use.

→ It'll help keep you on track each day. 
→ Filter out the things that aren't important.

Finally met Ciara Cristo from Alibaba after 8 months working together over Zoom calls.

Watched her absolutely nail her panel talk, then roamed the Alibaba CoCreate event.

The number of businesses and attendees filming their own content there made most B2B brands look like they’re still stuck in 2014.

In about 20 years nobody will know who you are.
 
Not in a sad way, more a 'maybe we should all chill out and enjoy life more' kinda way.
 
I was on Reddit recently - I occasionally search “Slater Menswear” to see what the internet people are saying about the family biz - and I saw this post.
 
“Who is this in the painting?”
 
It was my Grandpa Ralph.
 
Guy built the largest men’s outfitters on the planet, 20,000 suits on the shop floor, dressed basically every man in Glasgow for like three generations.

An absolute character.
 
And still - twenty years later - someone’s staring at his portrait like:
 
"Is that young Lyndon Johnson?"
(actual comment)
 
And that’s life.
 
All the things you think matter…  the name above the door, the grind, the late nights, missing dinners and time with friends/family.
 
Give it a couple of decades and... gone.
 
My grandpa grew up in poverty in the Gorbals.  

He built a 40,000 sq ft business from a one-room shop, made people feel welcome and carried pride without ego.
 
That’s why people still talk about him - not the suits.
 
We’ve gotta stop confusing work with legacy.
  
Most people won’t remember your achievements.
 
But they’ll remember you.

Most people don’t realise how much time we spend watching each other. 

Scroll long enough and you’ll see it everywhere - daily routines, behind-the-scenes clips, people building in public. 

It’s easy to dismiss it as noise, but there’s something more going on.

We live in a voyeuristic world and people are naturally curious. 

They want to understand who you are, how you work and whether you’re someone they could trust.  

Daniel Priestley talks about touchpoints and exposure - the idea that people need repeated interactions before they feel comfortable enough to buy, invest or collaborate. 

And what matters there is that people decide based on familiarity - they need to see you, hear you and understand how you think.

That’s why I share days like this one. 

Anyone with a spare moment on the train or between meetings might watch for thirty seconds and get a feel for how The Story Club is being built. 

Not everyone will pay attention, that’s normal. 

But the people who do can become clients, partners or long-term supporters. 

And if sharing a small part of your day helps them understand who you are, it’s worth it.

Sometimes that’s all it takes for someone to reach out.

Everyone loves to say “document, don’t create”… but no one actually tells you how.

So here’s how I do it using one tiny tool.

Most of us aren’t in Miami jumping between podcast studios, cocktails and boat parties.

We spend 80% of our time at a laptop sending emails, on calls, trying to time block, managing clients, writing for LinkedIn, drinking coffee & improving systems.
 
So when someone says: “Just document your journey!”  

You're thinking:  “Nobody wants to watch 17 minutes of me sending emails.”
 
But here’s the part usually missing with the advice.
 
Documenting doesn’t mean filming your day - it means explaining your thinking.
 
And all you really need is three things: 
 
𝟭. 𝗔 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.
 
Not daily videos - just one a week.  

Unless you're a rockstar, daily vlogs make your life look boring.  

Weekly gives you space to pick moments that actually matter.
  
• Couple good meetings
• Good/bad client call
• A project update
• Moment of sheer panic
• Small win you’d normally forget
 
That’s plenty to build trust with your audience.
 
𝟮. 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.
 
This is the make or break between, “I’m filming stuff” vs “this has real value”.
 
• After a client call → look into the lens and explain why they asked that and how you solved it.
 
• After a meeting → here’s what we decided and why.
 
• After doing something boring → make it funny, or don’t, just don’t overthink it.

I always compare it to the process like you're onboarding a junior, breaking down/explaining everything to them as you go.

Half my job is building systems, while the other half is asking questions nobody’s asked you before.

By the time we meet, the raw material’s already there - my job's is to drag it out of you and shape it into something that actually moves the business.

This week I had a kickoff call with a founder building a performance-first workspace in London.

It's a great concept, but he's a busy guy with zero spare bandwidth.
 
He opened with:  

“Sorry mate… I haven’t read a single one of the onboarding docs.”

Perfect. We went straight into the next 90 minutes doing what founders actually need:

1. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗺

Notion, lead tracker, photos, decks, videos - all organised in one place and bookmarked.

He doesn’t have to remember where anything lives - just dumps it, I sort it.

𝟮. 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁

We didn’t talk about views once.  

We talked about getting 1,000 people onto his waitlist, warming up potential investors, using events to convert real members, and turning LinkedIn into a deal-flow machine.
 
If the post isn’t driving one of those outcomes, we bin it.

𝟯. 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝗺  

This is the part founders forget they’re buying.

I’m asking questions like:
 
• “Who do you not want in the space?”
• “What went wrong with your raise last time?”
• “What beliefs would annoy half your industry?” 
• “Real numbers from the businesses you’ve fixed.”

Within an hour, we knew what he stood for, who he was repelling.

Mapped a hit list of podcasts, investors, and event hosts he needed to be in front of etc.

Nothing fancy. 

Just structure, direction, and the uncomfortable questions everyone else is too polite to ask.

And you could see it land - clarity, then the system, and then the story that would anchor the business.

It took me 3 years in business to realise this about imposter syndrome.
(As much as us Brits can ever truly 'get over' it)

You have to take the time to sit down and rack up the numbers 

I hear it all the time when I sit down with founders: 
“I don’t think anyone would care what I have to say."

These are people doing £500k, £1m, even £10m in revenue… still talking like they’re blagging their way through life.

But when you ask them to list what they’ve actually DONE over the last few years?

Silence - because few people actually track it.

Last week, Joe M-C introduced me to something that properly shifted how I see my own work:

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸.

So I built mine:

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴:

• Filmed 78 founders.
• Run 200+ shoot days across the UK + Europe.
• Created hundreds of high-performing video clips.
• Helped clients generate £140k+ in pipeline from video
  (probably more - just need to chase ROI from)
  
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗬 𝗼𝗻:

• Over £15,000 invested in cameras, lighting, audio.
• £1000's on courses to get better at what I do.
• £20k+ worth of free shoots early on to build trust + case studies.
  
When you see it on paper…

It becomes very hard to still believe the story in your head that says: “Who am I to talk on camera?”

If you’ve been doing something for 2, 3, 4+ years… 

You’ve racked up more reps, more mistakes, more learnings, more insight than you give yourself credit for.

But your brain won’t believe it until you show it the evidence.

Take 10 minutes and list out:

1. What you’ve spent TIME doing.
2. What you’ve spent MONEY on
3. What RESULTS you’ve created (even the small ones)
   
When you’ve done that, hit record.

The camera isn’t as scary when you know your numbers.
