Tons of failures. 
Totally screwed up at first. 

But in 2025 I passed $1M in coaching sales.

My life and business are changing. 

On December 26, 2025, I upload my first YouTube video. 

YouTube is hard. 
I currently suck at it. 

It’s a whole new journey compared to LinkedIn. But the journey is exactly what it’s about for me. 

Ideating, scripting, storytelling. 
It really is a science and art. 
It takes time and patience.

So I’ve paused my coaching practice in its current form. 

Because last week I produced a video about how my LinkedIn journey led to a 7-figure coaching business and it’s taken every ounce of energy to not delete the post. 

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful. 
I’ve met amazing people. 
Especially clients. 

But the video confirmed my growing suspicion: 

I’ve reached the inevitable, “what’s next?” question.

The only answers I have:

— Build my next ‘thing’ in the creator economy
— Join a company remotely in the creator economy
— Or a combo of both. I’m excited with any answer.

I also have a major desire to launch a podcast studio in the Dallas, Texas area.

I love podcasts and want to build mine/help build them for others. There's something special about this idea, but I don't know what it is yet.

I recently had a coach tell me:

“Ryan, to the degree you transform your state of being into the truth of your being, you are free to create the life of your choosing.”

That quote will be vague to you if you're not familiar with the best book in the world, "Straight-line Leadership" by Dusan Djukich.

The information in that book helps you unpack that statement. 

Between December 26 and the date of this post, I’ve created and deleted multiple YouTube channels and multiple YouTube videos. 

And it’s because I battled with the “shoulds” of life. 

“I should niche down…”
“I should do a channel like this…”
“No, I should do a channel like that…”

So, I’m ditching the echo-chamber of online biz advice.

Not because it’s altogether bad, but because I need to return to creating for the joy of creating. 

That’s how this whole LinkedIn thing started.
And the only reason it became successful. 

I love content, educating, sales, and building. So, I’ll put on my backpack, grab my Alani energy drink, and walk that rode until the true opportunity reveals itself.

I'll still be posting on LinkedIn. 

PS) I converted 2 spare bedrooms in my home. One is called the boardroom and it's for writing/ideation. The other is a studio for recording.

Write for 20 minutes every day (without Chat GPT).

My top 5 favorite times to write:

1) After commenting on posts. The brain is awake.
2) Early in the morning (with a coffee - well 3 ☕ )
3) After a walk with no music (only thoughts)
4) After inspiration from a podcast
5) After reading

This isn't an anti-AI post. 
I like Chat and others.
I use them often.

Content creation is a deep skill that changes you - your thoughts get clearer and your communication gets stronger. 

There's a unique satisfaction on the mind when your thoughts get developed word-by-word for a post. 

Your LinkedIn content needs this. 
Your audience wants this.
You do too. 

Enjoy the slowness of it. That's the magic doing its thing.

Most creators on LinkedIn see a flatline when they start. 

Low reach, empty comments, tiny followers. 
But this doesn't mean you suck. 
You're just new.

When I first started posting in 2022, I talked about brand partnerships in the creator economy. 

Each posts was under 10 likes.
Then I steadily grew to 6,000 followers. 

But then I got hired as a content executive, didn't think I was going to post anymore, so I nuked my profile (the irony lol). 

(literally deleted every post 😅)

I started from 0 a few months later. 
Low reach, mild comments. 
Slow follower growth.

This story doesn't end with a sudden burst of explosive growth. That's not how LinkedIn works for 99.99% of people. 

Most of us will experience drops of growth at first with an occasional breakout post. 

Then small growth spurts. Then another breakout. 
This is how growth happens on all platforms.
So embrace the slow process.

This person will always grow:

The one who creates.

They improve each post by 4.79% (kidding - just aim to improve one thing with every post, whether it's the hook, body, story etc).

They don't stop creating. 
They don't stop improving. 

You can't unsee this data below.

LINKEDIN
Posting just once a week puts you in the top 1% of the platform's most visible professional voices.

YOUTUBE
Once you hit 100 subscribers, you are in the Top 63% of all YouTube channels globally (1,000 subs is top 34%).

PODCASTS
If you reach Episode 21, you have officially outlasted 99% of all podcasts ever started.

The only unfair advantage someone has is not quitting.

I made $1M from LinkedIn and learned this.

No seriously, you want a small LinkedIn audience.

Content saturation is creating more fragmentation than ever, but this is actually an advantage in disguise.

My LinkedIn is living proof of this in 3 ways:

1) I never "blew up" on LinkedIn

My 73,000 followers might "seem" big. But in the expansive creator economy, it's tiny.

I've never been viral. 
I only had a few growth spurts.
Mostly, my growth was pretty slow. 

I started posting in April of 2022, 4 years ago. 

My smallest LinkedIn growth was in 2025, but it's my highest year of earnings. 

I grew most when I posted about copywriting.
...but made little (2023). 

Second-most when I talked about LI growth.
...but earned more (2024).

Slowest with coaching businsesses. 
...but totally crushed it (2025).

I freaked-out when reach dropped even more last year 😂

It made me want to go back to "what works" for getting attention. I diagnosed all of the wrong problems, changed things I didn't need to change, and felt miserable. 

Then I stayed the course to focus on one topic:
The coaching lane with my proven niche. 
And only focused on solving. 

My clients got great results and I did too.

2) I never "blew up" because I niched

I do 1 thing: help you build a coaching practice on LinkedIn. 

If that doesn't describe you, then you'll only like my content for how it helps you grow on LinkedIn. 

If it does describe you then this is also true:

You're a leader with career experience. 
You've likely held an executive role.
You're probably 35+ years old. 

And you want to coach to:

A) Own your career
B) Help people

3) I never "blew up" because I didn't need to

99.99% of LinkedIn accounts won't be huge. 
But you can let the pressure off. 
You don't need scale.

I had a client earn $200K in January alone:

- He is super niche'd on LinkedIn and YT
- Very little engagement across the board

Another earned $42,000 from 1 workshop:

- She only works with people in tech
- Less than 30 likes per post

And a 3rd got his first $30K/month.

- He only works with Dads
- 20-70 likes per post

Here's the real way to think about LinkedIn:

1) Growth is slow

Accept this truth. It's sufficient. 
Delete 'fast' from your mouth.
Just target your buyer.

2) If your offer is clear, you will sell

Yes, it must solve a real problem.
There must be real demand.
Biz/Career coaching = 💰
(even w/ saturation)

3) People buy from you, BECAUSE of YOU

Your vibe. Your stories. 
The way you solve.
How you coach. 

You can try all kinds of persuasion tactics, but everyone sees fake scarcity and fake urgency miles away. 

Just start helping people solve a problem.
Then invite them to continue teaming. 

Solve problems and your niche will find you.

Carousel Posts Still Dominate in 2026. Here’s Why.

Still relying on text-only posts? You're leaving reach, clicks, and client discovery on the table.

I was working with a CEO of a B2B SaaS company.
He had been consistent with his LinkedIn content.
Text-only. Long-form. Thought leadership.

But here’s what he told me:

“I’m not seeing real traction. 
My team says the posts are solid

I didn’t change the strategy.

I took his highest-performing text posts 
And turned them into carousels.

Why did this happen?

Because carousel posts demand interaction.
When someone sees a carousel
They don’t just scroll past it. They:

1- Click into it
2- Swipe through it

Dwell Time → Time spent reading/ engaging with your post.
It signals that → “this content is useful.”

Here’s what most people get wrong:

They upload multiple images thinking they’ve created a carousel.
But that’s NOT a carousel.

To create a carousel you need to:

✅ Combine your image slides into one single PDF
✅ Use some no-cost website to compile them into a PDF.
✅ Then upload the PDF to LinkedIn as a document post

That’s when LinkedIn displays it as a swipe-through carousel
And that’s when the algorithm starts pushing it hard.

Two golden nuggets:

1- On personal Profiles, Video and Carousels are KING and QUEEN.
[Both are top 1 Position Holder]

2- On company pages, Carousel (PDF format) is KING.
[And Video is the Second in Command]

Stop underestimating the format.
Sometimes the message is right
But the packaging is wrong.

If You’re Still Tracking Just ‘Post Impressions’ on LinkedIn… You’re Missing the Real Data...

I’ve been testing LinkedIn’s latest analytics update for the past few days… and something big has changed.

The platform has stopped showing you surface-level metrics like “Impressions only” for you LinkedIn Posts.

Now it is diving deep - both horizontally and vertically - into real audience intelligence.

This means: 

↳ LinkedIn no longer just tells you how many people scrolled past your post.
↳ It now tells you what that post actually did for your brand.

Here’s what’s new inside every post’s analytics dashboard:

1- Profile Visitors: People who viewed your profile because of that specific post.

2- Saves: The strongest signal of value (LinkedIn now prioritizes depth over likes).

3- Sends on LinkedIn: How many times your post was shared privately via DM.

4- Followers Gained: New followers earned directly from that post’s visibility.

5- Members Reached: Unique users who saw your post in their feed for the first time.

What is meant by “members” in “Members Reached”??

- They are unique LinkedIn Users who are viewing your post in their feed on LinkedIn for the first time.
- They are called members because they are not repeat views.
- The reflect the real audience exposure.

"I’m Posting on LinkedIn But Getting Zero Leads…"

On a recent 1:1 call, a CEO told me:

"I’ve been posting on LinkedIn consistently, but I’m not getting any leads. I’m sharing valuable content, but it’s just not converting into business."

I asked him a few questions and quickly spotted the problem: 

He was posting, but not positioning himself as an authority, and he wasn’t driving conversations where it mattered.

➞ Here’s what I told him:

1. Fix the Positioning: 

His profile headline said, “CEO at [Company].” I changed it to: “Helping SaaS Founders Scale to $100K+ Months Through LinkedIn.” Immediately, his profile became outcome-focused and client-focused/ client-attractive.

2. Engage More Than You Post: 

I advised him to stop focusing only on posting, and to start commenting on 15–20 posts daily from his target audience and on LinkedIn Top Voices. 
The algorithm favors engagement over content alone, and strategic commenting would boost his visibility.

3. Turn Engagement into Conversations: 

I showed him how to DM people who engaged with his content:
 
"Hey [Name], thanks for engaging with my post on [topic]. Curious, how are you approaching [related challenge]?"
 
This opened the door for meaningful business conversations.

The transformation?

➡️ Within 2 weeks, his profile views increased by 300%.
➡️ His post engagement jumped by 5x.
➡️ He booked 3 sales calls - all inbound.

The Best Thing? 

↷ He wasn’t chasing clients anymore. Clients were coming to him.

That’s exactly what a marketing agency founder told me last week.

He was pivoting.
(After testing every other acquisition channel)
He now wanted to focus 100% on LinkedIn.

Here are the lessons learnt for 2026:

↳ Telemarketing failed because of low trust.
↳ Google Ads slowed because competition is saturated.
↳ Email marketing flopped because Google is cracking down against spam overload.

So LinkedIn became the obvious choice.
But LinkedIn only works when you respect how it actually grows trust.

Your LinkedIn profile is no longer a resume.
It’s a credibility and trust booster.
If your positioning isn’t clear, the algorithm and buyers will scroll away.

2. The 10+10+10 commenting formula builds visibility the right way:

• Comment on 10 top voices accounts that your audience already follows
• Comment on 10 same-niche peers (bigger in size competitors)
• Comment on 10 ideal clients

3. LinkedIn is a trust-building platform and data source for AI:

People check your profile before they respond.
Content + comments + profile alignment create familiarity.

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝟭:
In 2025 LinkedIn crossed 1 billion users (from ~900 million).
More people are publishing.

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝟮:
At the same time, AI answer engines are treating LinkedIn as a data hub.
Profiles, posts, comments, and interactions are being indexed (based on relevance).

Final thought:

In 2026, LinkedIn will work only for those who look credible before they message.

“How can I get engagement??
I already have 500+ connections but no visibility!”

That’s what someone asked me recently during an event.

He had a good number of connections.
He was also posting every day.
But no engagement on his posts.

Here's the proven strategy that I shared:

1- Pick fixed days and fixed times:

Example:

• Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
• 8:00 AM Pacific always

Do not change it weekly.

Why this works:

• Your network starts expecting your posts
• LinkedIn learns when your audience reacts
• Predictability improves initial engagement velocity

This trains people and the algorithm.

2. Best time to post - mornings:

Best window: 8 AM – 11 AM
Either your local time
Or your audience’s time zone

3. Engagement starts before you post:

If you publish without warming the network, don’t expect results.

Daily rule:

• Comment meaningfully on 20 relevant profiles
• Reply to comments on your old posts
• Don’t forget to comment on same-niche.

Engagement is reciprocal.

4. Connect with relevant people:

If your target audience is CEOs…
Then send connection requests to CEOs.
And upload content that adds value to CEOs.
This synergy is a must.

This is how you spend 6 months on LinkedIn… and still get nothing back.

I had a conversation with a 7-figure consultant recently.
 
He was frustrated. 
Burnt out.
 
He’d been showing up on LinkedIn “consistently” for 6 months and still had: 

No leads
No calls
No clients.

So, I asked him to walk me through his strategy.

Content Strategy?
 
"Based on SEO analytics."
Every post crafted to rank for keywords.

Not written for the ideal customer persona. 
No pain points addressed.
Just generic tips with no real voice behind them.

He even launched a podcast
…but it was AI-generated.

Meaning:

No human face. 
No human voice. Only AI voice.
No authenticity. 

And he wondered why it wasn’t connecting.

Conversion Strategy?
 
“We’ll drive traffic from LinkedIn… and then convert via email {email marketing}.”
 
So, LinkedIn is just a billboard? 
No conversations? 
No Business meeting-settings on LinkedIn?

Connection Strategy?

“We just connect with anyone. Sometimes CEOs.”
 
No targeting. 
No prospecting.
No Boolean search method applied?

Sending connections randomly to anyone.
And accepting connections randomly from anyone?

👉 And that’s when I said:

"You’ve turned LinkedIn into a content dump, not a client pipeline."

👉 The Marketing Plan I Gave Him:

1. Write for Humans. Not Keywords:

Speak to your ideal client’s real pain points.
Your content should add up-front value.

2. Use Videos With Your Face & Voice:

Human Video > AI faceless video. 
Authentic video content builds trust.

3. Send Connections with Precision:

Apply filters such as “Followers of.”
And put “Justin Welsh” in the blank.
Now you have got the list of active/ relevant prospects.

4. Email Marketing has the Conversion rate of only 4%:

LinkedIn marketing has the conversion rate of 20%
Email marketing is not human.
LinkedIn brand is human and authentic.

5. LinkedIn Conversion Strategy:

LinkedIn Prospecting → Engagement → DM → Call → Client.

1- Select 20 profiles:

People who:

• Create content in your niche
• Attract your ideal audience
• Do real conversations in comments

2- Comment on their posts daily for 14 days:

Not “Great post.”
Not emojis.
Real comments.
Thoughtful additions.
30–35 words minimum.

3- On Day 15, audit engagement:

Who replied back?
Who engaged with your content?
Who returned the favor?

4- Replace non-responsive profiles:

Drop the ones who never engage back.
Add new/ active profiles.

5- Repeat the cycle:

This is how you build an engagement tribe.

And once LinkedIn understands:

• Who you engage with
• Who engages with you
• Who your conversations are for

Your reach doesn’t “come back.”
It stabilizes.

1. Build a content strategy around 3 clear content pillars:

Pick three themes you want to be known for.

Example:

• Your expertise (what you actually do)

• Your experiences (lessons/ transformations)

Every post should satisfy one pillar at a time.
This helps LinkedIn understand who to show your content to.

2. Optimize for your 1st-degree connections first:

LinkedIn tests your posts with people who already know you.
If they don’t:

• Comment
• Save
• React

Your content won’t travel further.
Do comments on the posts of your 1st degree connections.
That will warm up their engagement with you.

3. Thought leadership ≠ boring content:

Thought leadership means:

• Clear opinions
• Actionable lessons
• Practical insights

Not memes.
Not vague motivation.
Not trend-chasing.

"I Don’t Like LinkedIn Because of Spam." – Here’s What I Told a CEO

I was on a 1:1 call with a CEO last week. He said:

"I don’t like LinkedIn because people send me so many spam and salesy messages. Now I just use Facebook ads to promote my upcoming event."

I smiled and replied:

"You don’t have to abandon the best B2B lead gen platform in the world just because of some spam DMs."

He paused and asked:

"How can I avoid receiving spam messages on LinkedIn?"

Here’s what I told him:

👉 Turn Off InMail: 

If people are spamming you with In-Mails, you can easily turn them off:

1. Click the ‘Me icon’ at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
2. Select ‘Settings & Privacy’ from the dropdown menu.
3. Click the ‘Data Privacy’ tab on the left.
4. Select ‘Who can reach you’ to manage contact preferences.
5. Switch the toggle next to InMail to ‘No’. Problem solved.

👉 Block Promo Messages: 

LinkedIn gives you control over who can send you promotional messages. 
To stop these:

1. Go to Settings & Privacy > Data Privacy > Who can reach you.
2. Turn off the toggle for promotional messages. Simple fix. No more spammy promos.

👉 Restrict Connection Requests: 

You can even limit connection requests (which is the first door to sending a DM) to only those who know your email address:

1. Go to ‘Settings & Privacy’ > Visibility > ‘Who can see or download your email address’.
2. Select ‘Only people who know your email address’. This filters out most spam/ bots instantly.

He was surprised:

Personal Photos vs. Infographics vs. AI images - Which Wins in 2026?

I did a content performance review for a solopreneur running a financial consulting firm.

“Why has my reach dropped 70% despite consistent posting?”

I get this question a lot. Here is my answer:

1- Because LinkedIn reach now has a lot to do with the quality of the comments that your posts get. 

2- Audit your comment section. Are you attracting thinkers or cheerleaders?

3- Another reason is that LinkedIn algorithm now has a “trust signal” – a parameter that calculates your LinkedIn presence as trust worthy or not. 

↳ If I am uploading the same post that I did 2 weeks ago, the parameter will go down. 

↳ If I am commenting on a same-niche creator and he’s appreciating it, the parameter will go up. 

↳ If I am tagging or mentioning someone in my post and they don’t react or comment, the parameter (trust signal) goes down. And the post won’t get the reach. 

↳ So it is not that if I am posting less, I will get more reach. Or if I am posting daily, I would get more (or less) reach. 

↳ It is now about how valuable my content is. How much dwell time will people now have on my post. That determines reach. 

What is the solution??

1- Do comments on same-niche creators as well.
2- Make sure that you post has zero fluff. 

3- If you use AI to write your post, make sure the prompt is good. 
4- Do not repurpose the old posts unless they are 6 months old.

5- Write longer comments (30-35 words) to trigger meaningful engagement.
6- Connect with 20 new accounts daily to refresh trust signals.
