I had three projects at Google I/O in 2017, two of them as a part of Android 8.0 “Oreo” launching in fall 2017.  As a part of the Android design team in London I led various system UI efforts, including the design for data access and management on Android Oreo Go targeting the "Next Billion Users".

In my time at Google I also worked on Enterprise (Google Apps), Ads (Google AdSense), Commerce (Google Offers), Maps (Google Maps for Mobile), Social (Google+ Local), Emerging Markets, Privacy and Search Ad Formats. I have facilitated many workshops and design sprints across the world, whilst working closely with UX researchers, Product Management and Engineering teams to design and deliver world class products and features.

Skype

I worked on a couple of projects at Skype focusing on e-commerce and payment interfaces on both the Skype website and within the Skype client for Microsoft Windows.  I produced various ideas in the form of sketches, wireframes and high fidelity visual designs to simplify the purchase of hardware and Skype credit.  During my time here I also began designing some parts of the first Skype applications for mobile devices.

BBC Radio & Music Interactive

During my short time at the BBC I worked on a number of projects for Radio 1, 2 and Five Live.  I lead the interaction and visual design of the Five Live website during the 2006 World Cup campaign.  I ran a number of user studies on features and products for Radio 2, suggested and implemented improvements.  As well as supporting, I constantly pushed the boundaries of BBC processes and design standards to deliver innovative solutions.

As a part of the Ad Technology team I took responsibility for the user experience of rich-media advertising, both on UK, European homepages and throughout the Yahoo websites. This included advising on and upholding usability requirements with clients and the implementation of campaigns using various technologies. I delivered creative solutions, advice and consultancy to both internal and external clients, producing concept designs and prototypes for potential campaigns.

During my time in Australia I led the digital media for Nova 96.9fm in Sydney.  Again introducing User-centered Design practices to redesign the site for both user and business needs, also handling most of the technical implementation.  Essentially an extension to the work I'd done at Virgin in the UK.

Led the major re-design of the company's website, introducing user research and testing sessions to create a design that answered user and business needs, standing for almost 4 years.   Worked with external advertisers to create ground breaking cross-media campaigns.

I'm a designer with a broad range of experience delivering both digital and physical products/services since 1995. 

Most recently I was Head of Design at Lunar Energy - connecting hardware, software and brand identity work together in order to make clean, endless energy from our sun into a simple, beautiful proposition for homeowners.

I worked at Google for just under a decade. First of all at the Google Creative Lab in NYC, on cutting edge projects involving clean energy, VR and AR for education, connectivity, urban computing and helping hackers rescue a NASA probe from the 1970s. Then for six years I worked at Google AI/Research on bring AI into hardware devices and exploring what would mean for future services.

I was a principal and partner at BERG, a product invention company that researched, conceived, designed and built connected products. I've been a creative director and team-builder for award-winning services like BBC News Online, and Sapient's London studio. 

At Nokia, I drove design research, working on areas as diverse as RFID/NFC applications of tangible/physical interfaces and the human universal experience of play. Then, transferring that work to the business-facing side of design - as Director of User-Experience Design for the Multimedia Division of Nokia Design, part of the team responsible for driving the Nokia Nseries user-experience.

I was one of the founders and lead designer of Dopplr.com, a service for frequent travellers which was sold to Nokia in 2009.

I regularly speak at conferences and events such as Reboot, UX London, Adaptive Path's MX event, Ars Electronica, O'Reilly's Etech and FooCamp.

I've taught/lectured at the RCA, AHO Oslo, CIID Copenhagen and Goldsmiths, London.
