You know that saying "people buy from people"?
Well that's only partly true...

You also need to present your offering in a very particular way.

You see, only around 10% of purchases are for the product itself:
The "how"
The fine detail, under the hood

So approaching a prospect and over-focusing on specs, how well written the code is or how much work went into making it is typically going to fall on deaf ears.

Good for you if you love the product. 
You should. 
And you should keep striving to make it best in class.

But until it's been established that the person you're speaking with also cares about all this, hold that part back.

Instead, focus on the "outcomes" for them of using your offering.

Because people are interested in outcomes. Another word for this is the 'wins' for them. 

For them. 

They need to feel:
↳ does it make me look good / more successful?
↳ does it save me time / is it a convenience hack?
↳ does it save me money?
↳ does it make me money?

Why is this the case? 
Because you're supposed to be a solution, not another 'thing' they have to work out how to operate or another person to manage.

Be and present the solution.

Don't just indulge in over-explanation.

How to Pitch your Service

"$36k was giving me the panics. Then I quoted $66k"

One of the members (let's call him Jake) in the Art of Sell community almost doubled his price mid-call

and he still closed the deal.

What you don't know is, I've watched Jake's mindset level up in the last year

The panic Jake said he was feeling is never about whether they can afford it, and always about saying the number out loud to another human.

Yes, the same "am I worth it" feeling you battle.

There's value in saying a higher price out loud

Even if they don't buy
Because the moment you do it, your baseline shifts

↳ Once you say it and someone says yes, everything changes
↳ Going back to lower prices starts to "feel weird"

There's a guy who runs a $300M company who got 20 minutes with Elon Musk

You know what he learned?
"I am playing so small"

Every time you go up, you realise it wasn't hard

You just had to do it

That perspective shift is EARNED

- Through reps of saying the number
- By you closing at that level
- Until it becomes your new normal

So what's the price you're too scared to say out loud?
That's probably where you need to start.

If your calls 'go well' but don't convert, this is why:

You're treating the call as a persuasion event.

It's not.

The decision was already made before you ever spoke. The call simply confirms or undermines what they already believed about you.

Here's what actually happens:

They came to you positioned as the prize. You showed up like a service provider hoping to be chosen.

I've watched this pattern across thousands of conversations over 22 years.

The call starts well.
They're engaged.
Everything feels positive.

Then comes the shift.

↳ You ask vague questions.
↳ You over-explain your process.
↳ You serve and coach instead of diagnosing and prescribing.

The version of you they met doesn't match the authority they expected.

They're looking for certainty.
What they experience is uncertainty.

You see, objections don't happen at the conversion. They're just the buyer naming the uncertainty you introduced earlier, usually when you switched into 'nice person' mode.

Here’s how to change it:

↳ Stop asking "would you be open to..." and start saying "the next step is..."
↳ Stop offering options for them to choose and start prescribing the solution they need

Authority established through content must be maintained through behaviour.

When those two things don't align, buyers feel it immediately.

They ghost.
They go cold.
They "need to think about it."

When they do align? That’s when the call converts.

Do your calls match how you position yourself?

Here's how I closed a deal with Sony
(or, the "competition play"):

Many feel the way to get a sale is to:
↳ Know the benefits
↳ Build up some rapport
↳ Lean into the best features

But everyone does that, so you need more edge.

I remember wanting to work with Sony Professional (their industry arm of the business)

And I knew that just approaching with relevance ("hey, I can help you") wouldn't work. 

That's what everyone does
That's what they expect
And I only get 1 shot

So instead, I used leverage:
In this case it was their competition

At the time, we were working with Samsung's Commercial division so I collected everything I could on their results with us.

When I approached Sony, everything I said to the Product Director was through the lens of their competitor:
• "Here's how we're doing it with Samsung"
• "This is what Samsung said when we got the result"
• "See that there? That's Samsung winning again, because of us"

I'll never forget how she started laughing down the phone at me when I asked for the order.

I started to feel concerned that I may have messed up. 

So I asked "why are you laughing?"

She said "because I have to do it, don't I?!"

The competition play isn't always the most elegant way to sell, 
but with the right people paid to take market share, it works.

And here's the lesson:
You don't have to be mean to do it

Show your results with a similar client.
It's far more compelling than just describing benefits.

Now, they'll believe it truly works

"Here's how to find people actively looking"

Everyone else:
"Make lists of CEOs and DM them all"

Here's the thing about prospecting:

Amateur level LinkedIn prospecting is this:
- Make a list of 100 CEOs
- Scrape their emails with a 3rd party app
- Pray you don't get banned
- Send the same DM to them all
- Get 0 replies so think maybe your profile needs optimising
- Buy another course on improving your reach

Legendary level LinkedIn prospecting is this:
- Know where to find active leaders with a need
- Know how to start a conversation that can pivot
- Do 3-5 of these in a day
- Schedule a call a day
- Get a deal a week
- Feel fulfilled

High ticket deals with premium buyers on LinkedIn is a volume game when you haven't got a clue

But with a system and some competency, it becomes a tiny number of interactions with the right people

Easy choice (in my opinion):
Spend 80% of the day mucking around on LinkedIn 
or
Spend 80% of the day with customers

Most sales training = learn persuasion 
But that misses the point

The real job is transferring risk
Here’s why:

Every buyer will silently ask one question:
“What happens to me if this goes wrong?”

Not:
↳ “Is this good?”
↳ “Is this clever?”
↳ “Is this impressive?”

More:
↳ “Will this make me look less capable?”
↳ “Will this affect my reputation?”
↳ “Will I have to explain it to my boss?”

That’s why ROI slidedecks won’t close your deals
It’s why features don’t move people
And why “trust” isn’t built by being friendly

Trust is built when you show someone you understand the consequences they’re living with.

Again: you show them you understand

Here’s how to actually close:

1. Understand pain before you show upside
ROI only matters once risk is understood
Until then, you’re just waving numbers 
So get context in the conversation first

2. Share stories to help the buyer see themselves
Not case studies with only numbers 
But narratives where they think
“Okay, that’s literally me”

3. Handle their objections as fear, not logic
“I’ll think about it” means
I’m not feeling ready at all 

4. Do the close by making inaction feel heavier than action
No pressure. Ever!
Instead, bring clarity to what happens if nothing changes

If you’re using pressure, you’re doing it wrong.
More, you need to show them standing still is uncomfortable

When have you felt most comfortable buying?

Here's how my team and I closed £millions.
(it even worked on cold calls)

In my corporate days, my world was cold outreach.
By phone, by email, in person.

And my teams and I closed millions without:
- The best product on the market
- Building a personal brand
- Referrals from buyers

You see, most people use one thing to reach out

Relevance.

Here's their logic:
↳ "I do X. You can buy X. Therefore, listen to me"

And of course it doesn't work. 

Just check your junk mail for proof!

But when you add leverage to relevance, things change

What's leverage? 

It's a reason to pay attention:
↳ "You work with X. We work with X too. Let's talk"

People like that you're already trusted.
And even more if you're trusted by their friend.

Now, you have the right kind of attention;
You have trust.

And when you're a nobody, trust is the currency you need.

Until you learn to spot and fix this conversion gap:

Consistent client acquisition will remain a pipe dream.

The gap isn't between content volume and deals closed.

Right... Where is it?

It's between the psychological state you're creating and the state required for someone to buy.

I've watched this across 7 years on LinkedIn.

Founders create content that generates agreement and then struggle to turn attention into action.

Because agreement and certainty are not the same thing.

↳ Agreement is "this makes sense"
↳ Certainty is "this person can guide me"

You're optimising for the first. 
But buyers really need the second.

You write content that resonates.
It gets likes.
But your calendar will stay empty.
 
A recent client had a stack of likes but zero calls booked. 
Her content was designed to be read and shared, not to position her as the person you hire.

2 weeks after fixing her positioning, she booked 4 qualified calls.

What changed?
She stopped educating everyone and started demonstrating judgment for the people who needed her.

That’s where the conversion gap closes.

When you shift from creating agreement to creating certainty.

How?

↳ Start speaking to buyer decision-making states rather than writing to impress peers
↳ Start demonstrating judgment of their context rather than demonstrating expertise

As a result, you'll have more of the right people seeing you in the right way, compelled to engage.

Likes measure resonance.
Conversations measure certainty.

Holiday withdrawal syndrome is very real 😂

I’m back in action… though my heart is still somewhere between Bali and Changi.

When I was on holiday, I thought about work.
When I came back, I thought about holiday.
Holiday is never enough, isn’t it? 😜

In many places in Bali, I was the only Asian.
Everyone spoke to me in English.
They were surprised I could speak Bahasa.

Some thought I was Japanese, Korean, or Chinese but not Indonesian 🤭

Coming back to my home country still feels strangely foreign sometimes.
And yet… that’s also part of my story.

This trip was filled with little “firsts” that made my heart smile:
🔹Riding a Gojek bike for the first time 🛵
🔸Eating the best tiramisu — twice in a row 😜
🔹Experiencing the most mind-blowing light, sound & vibration healing on a waterbed
(felt like time travel… Matrix-style ✨)
🔸Gifting hotel staff a small souvenir from Singapore, just to say thank you for their wonderful service

And then… Changi Airport.

Every single time I touch down, my body exhales.

There’s a quiet sense of safety, grounding, and gratitude.

Here I was, chilling at the Calm Room @Terminal 2 — if you haven’t visited, you really should.
It lives up to its name. 🧘🏻‍♀️

How fitting that today, I’ll be moderating a book launch conversation with my dear friend Judy Liu (MSc-Org Psych) on Beyond Belonging.

Because this journey reminded me again:
Belonging isn’t always about geography.
Sometimes, it’s about learning to feel at home —within yourself. ♥️

I have never seen a bookstore packed like this.

We weren’t there because of the book.
We were there because of Judy 💛

I met Judy a year ago at the Mentoring SG Summit — she hosted, I moderated.

Fast forward to yesterday… I found myself moderating her book launch.

Life has a beautiful way of coming full circles.

We’ve only met a handful of times, yet every conversation with Judy left me feeling deeply seen and heard.
Yes — there were tears too 😂
Because that’s what happens when you sit with someone who is fully human.

What a gift it was to facilitate yesterday’s conversation.

We began by setting a powerful intention:
✨ to come home to ourselves.

From there, Judy shared her writing journey and the heart of Beyond Belonging.

Here’s what stayed with me:

Beyond belonging is not a place you arrive at.
It’s a place you return to.

H — Honour your inner knowing
O — Own your power 
M — Make choices from alignment, not fear
E — Embody who you already are

Because true belonging doesn’t begin out there.
It begins the moment you stop leaving yourself behind.

When I’m not working, I choose to volunteer.

This is why I volunteer. ♥️

Yesterday I had so much fun holding space and facilitating Lego workshop for youth leaders, building conversations, insights, and possibilities brick by brick.

Through play and reflection, we explored : 
🔅Bringing individual strengths into collective leadership
🔅Designing engagement initiatives that invite participation
🔅Thinking ahead about leadership continuity and succession

I’ve been volunteering for over 20 years, and it has shaped me in ways I could never have imagined.

It taught me:
🔺To listen deeply beyond words 
🔺To lead with care and compassion 
🔺To believe in people, even before they believe in themselves

Nothing compares to investing in the future of our youth. 

Because our youth are the leaders of tomorrow,
and when we uplift them, we are shaping a kinder, stronger tomorrow.

P.S. If you had an hour to give back, how would you use it?

Confession: I’ve never made a claim like this before.

It feels scary. Maybe I’m a little delulu 😂
But hear me out 🙏

2025 is the year I 2X myself.
I doubled my revenue.
And more importantly — I upgraded my identity in ways I never imagined.

Today, I honour the version of me who got me here.
Thank you for the courage.
The lessons.
The becoming.
And the people who walked alongside me. ❤️

And now, I consciously release the old version of me who:
• Played small when I knew I could play bigger
• Said yes when it wasn’t aligned
• Second-guessed her power
• Felt guilty for resting
• Feared missing out
• Worked hard for money 
• People-pleased to stay “safe”
• Needed validation to feel worthy
• Lived in someone else’s shadow
• Chose “politically right” over honest
• Delayed, doubted, and dimmed herself

This year, I am fully claiming my 10X self — here and now.
• Creating global impact
• Bold. Grounded. Expansive.
• Building a values-led business
• Choosing JOMO & inner peace
• Deep self-trust in every decision
• Living life in abundance and overflow
• Taking bold, uncomfortable, aligned action
• Embodying the grandest version of who I am
• Leading with feminine flow and masculine clarity
• Growing my platform with intention & authenticity

It felt really scary to write this.
(I reread this post 198 times before clicking “post” 😅)

And that tells me one thing:
👉 This is the edge of my next level.

But here’s what matters most.

I don’t want to walk this 10X journey alone.
I want to journey with people who are ready to:
🔺 Raise their internal standards
🔺 Release old identities
🔺 Grow life and business from alignment — not pressure

Every January, we sit ourselves down for that conversation.
Oops. 🤭

“This is the year I lose weight.”
“This is the year I make more money.”
“This is the year I finally feel happier.”

Sound familiar?

By now, most of us know the not-so-fun stat:
92% of New Year’s resolutions don’t last.

A little sad, right?

But pause for a moment.

We set bold resolutions with even bolder expectations…

and somehow expect ourselves to transform overnight.

Like a software update that installs perfectly while we sleep.😴 

And when it doesn’t stick?

We quietly assume we failed.

But what if the problem isn’t you 

but the way we’ve been taught to approach change?

Most resolutions are built on a subtle belief that something about us is wrong.

That we need fixing. Improving. Optimising.

As if we’re a never-ending renovation project.

No wonder so many resolutions collapse by February.

They’re driven by pressure — not self-trust.
Instead of asking:
“What do I need to achieve this year?”

What if we asked:
“Who do I want to be in 2026?”

For me, I’m choosing to be:
Grateful, Bold, and Expansive.

When you focus on being instead of constantly doing, your actions start to flow more naturally, aligned with who you truly are, not who you think you should be.

So this year, I’m letting go of perfection.

I’m releasing promises made under pressure.
And I’m choosing intention over expectation.

You’re not broken, my friend.

I spent years being overlooked.
Until I stopped trying to be seen…
and started choosing alignment.

For most of my life, I was the underdog.

Not the loud, rebellious kind.
The quiet one.
The one who kept showing up even when no one was watching.

Here’s a little of my story.
Unpolished. Unfiltered. Real.

✨I didn’t come from privilege.
There was no “safe” or obvious path laid out for me.
What I had was grit, curiosity, and a deep belief that education could change my life.
So I worked for it. Hard.
(With limited English, self-doubt, and a lot of courage.)

✨ When I stepped out of my comfort zone - 
new country, new system, new rules 
I struggled with language, confidence, and visibility.

I often felt invisible in rooms where I knew I had something to contribute.

So I listened. I observed. I learned.
One conversation at a time.

✨When I started building my career,
I wasn’t the loudest voice in the room.
I didn’t even think about “personal branding”.
I definitely didn’t see myself as a thought leader.
I simply focused on doing good work, helping people, and staying true to my values.

✨ When I finally found my voice on LinkedIn, not everyone understood it.
Some questioned my credibility.
Some thought I “came out of nowhere”.
What they didn’t see were the years before LinkedIn
the failures, the inner work, the moments I almost hid…
and the courage it took to show up anyway.

✨ And when my community grew…
When clients came not from chasing, but from resonance…
When opportunities found me instead of the other way around…
Some called it luck.

👉🏻 I call it alignment.

Because here’s what people often miss:

Your results are rarely built in public.
They’re built in quiet rooms.
In uncomfortable seasons.
In moments where you choose integrity over applause.

I’m not here to compete.
I’m here to serve.

And if my story reminds you of yours 
If you’ve ever felt unseen, underestimated, or “too different” 

Please remember this:

You don’t need to become louder.
You don’t need to become someone else.

You just need to keep becoming you.

That’s how underdogs rise.
Softly. Steadily. Authentically. ✨

And maybe this season isn’t about becoming more.

Maybe it’s about shedding what no longer fits…
and stepping into a Brand New You 
one that’s aligned, embodied, and deeply yours.

Sometimes being seen is the first step forward.

What does POWER really mean to you?

To me, Power is honoring what’s true within — even when your body is shaking.

Before I posted about my 10X version,
my heart was pounding.
Fast. Loud. Relentless.

And yet — I posted it anyway.

It didn’t stop until 3am.
I couldn’t sleep after. 

“Ratna… who do you think you are to make such a bold claim?”

Because that fear?
That nervousness?
That racing heartbeat?

It was the clear signal I had crossed into my new identity.
And there was no turning back.

This is the work.
This is what an identity upgrade actually feels like.

Taking your power back means this:
✨ trusting your inner truth
✨ listening to your intuitive intelligence
✨ taking action from alignment — not force

One of my clients experienced her first real breakthrough after practising this inner intuitive work.

She moved from MDRT to COT.

For context:
MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) recognises top financial professionals globally for high performance and consistency.

COT (Court of the Table) is a level above that — typically around 3× MDRT production. 

She didn’t get there by posting more on LinkedIn.
She didn’t get there by working longer hours.

She got there because she learned how to connect deeply with herself and lead from that place.

Alignment changed everything.
Her appointments filled so consistently that she had to tell her PA to stop opening new slots. Isn’t that a good problem to have? 😉

For a long time, I thought visibility was about 
• Confidence.
• Authority.

I didn’t realise it was about safety.

Since young, I was afraid of being seen.
So I stayed humble.
Agreeable.
Behind the scenes.

I told myself it was character.
I didn’t realise it was protection.

Then came my Final English oral exam
I memorised every line. Practised endlessly.

And the moment I stood up, my mind went blank.

Silence.
40 pairs of eyes looked at me in pity. 

I was fully seen
in my most powerless moment.

That day, I made a silent promise:
Never step into the spotlight again.

Years later, when I started my business,
that old pattern resurfaced.

Speaking felt unsafe.
Writing on LinkedIn felt exposing.
Owning my power felt scary.

Because my body still believed:
Seen = unsafe.

Over time, I realised this wasn’t just my story.

Here are 5 visibility blocks that quietly hold people back from being fully seen in their power:

1️⃣ You equate visibility with danger
Your nervous system learned to protect you.
Hiding once kept you safe.

2️⃣ You wait to feel ready
You think confidence comes first.
But confidence is built through being seen.

3️⃣ You confuse humility with hiding
You dim your light so others feel comfortable.
That’s not humility.
That’s self-abandonment.

4️⃣ You try to sound “right” instead of real
So you overthink, edit, and delay.
Power doesn’t come from perfection.
It comes from truth.

5️⃣ You outsource your authority
You wait for validation or permission.
But your power was never meant to be approved by others.

Here’s what changed everything for me.

I learned to build my capacity for safety. 🤗

I exposed myself to visibility in safe environments.

I spoke even when my English felt limiting.
Even when my voice was shaking.

And each time I showed up from alignment,
not performance,
I reclaimed a part of myself.

Power is self-trust — made visible.
