These 3 job stats are a worry: 72%, 51%, 44%
Because they show something serious going on:

The numbers are for 2023, 2024 and 2025 in terms of the % of candidates with multiple job offers in their most recent job search*

That's trending dramatically down.

What does this mean?

This:
If you are less likely to have options, then you need to change something. 

Especially as the employment market will only get more competitive.

So what to do?

Focus on you, more. Here's how:

Look, sending out a résumé and patiently waiting in line is asking for trouble.

Instead, proactivity is the solution.

So:
1. Share your opinions on LinkedIn
↳ You'll be asked them in an interview anyway. 
But now your answer reaches many.

2. Network up
↳ Connect with those that might hire/influence hiring decisions. 
But be human: conversation > a pitch for a job

3. Show up, just not in queues
↳ Waiting in line for an interview screams average. 
Instead, go to events to network. Even attend events here on LinkedIn. 

Having the inside edge like this is how you get noticed
And importantly, it starts useful conversations.
Those that hire love to see initiative. 

What else? 
Work on your communication:
- Persuasion, influence and articulation all matter. 
- Because when you work hard to get your foot in the door, you don't want to throw that opportunity because you didn't train how you'd show up.

How else can a job seeker be proactive?

Bad advice can often sound good
So we think it's right. Here's an example:

Write content for 1 person
Talk about the 1 problem
Give them 1 solution

Part of this misses the mark.

And it's that middle line.

"Talk about the 1 problem"

You see, when you truly understand buyer behaviour, you realise something about "problems":
• You know what they are
• They usually don't

Typically, people don't fully know their problems
and they certainly haven't labelled them

For example:
- Business owners don't know their website's issue is its UX
- A patient with a cough won't know they have bronchitis
- CEOs don't think their problem is their personal brand

Problems require awareness

So you can see that speaking about problems often misses the mark.

You get it
Your peers get it
...and your engagement wrongly suggests your audience gets it

But the right people need it to relate more to what they're feeling now.

How do we fix this?

Instead of talking about the problem itself,
Speak to the symptoms of the problem:

Suddenly, the right people can relate to them
Because they're consciously living them
They're totally frustrated by them
They're fed up with them

It's a tiny nuance, but makes a massive difference

So,

Write content for 1 person
Focus on their symptoms 
Give them 1 next step

Let's stop pretending the month is over.

It’s not.

And yet some are already winding down, half-writing off the last few days like they don’t count.

Let me remind you:
↳ Revenue doesn’t care what the calendar says
↳ Targets don’t adjust themselves because you “feel done”
↳ And prospects don’t progress themselves while you blow across your coffee and coast into December

We’ve got 4 working days. 

That’s not “wrap-up” time
It's close time

↳ The pros know it
↳ The high performers I know always have this attitude
↳ That top 1% are circling their opportunities

Meanwhile, others are forecasting
Because they're finished.

So ask yourself:
Are you done? 
Or are you hitting the end of the month?

Easing in vs finishing strong:
It's always interesting to see how people respond, this time of the year

You are an asset.

This mindset shift altered two things for me:
- The view of myself 
- My career in sales

Here's how you possibly see yourself right now:

You see yourself as a source of frustration to prospects
You feel their time is worth more than yours
You're concerned you're intruding

Instead, start viewing yourself as an asset and the solution to their problems.

If a potential prospect needs support, then you are providing it!

This is valuable and needed.

From that reframe, you're not an irritation nor imposing on them.

Only by recognizing how much you can contribute in solving problems will you start approaching your sales as the helpful advisor rather than a begging, needy salesperson.

So, show them you're the expert equipped to answer any question they might have. 

But the big thing is to also show up as someone proud to be able to assist them.

Your skills and expertise are what set you apart and make you an asset - so now it’s time to own it.

Are you willing to say that?

According to Seth Godin, this is precisely what a leader should be willing to say to their team. 

Managers follow rules
They execute the plan
They deliver the thing 

But to volunteer. To say "I'll try this";
That is leadership.

So, 
↳ If you're doing the same as your peers
↳ If you're playing safe to only take part
↳ If you're letting others be the outliers

Then you're in the riskiest business of all.

Instead, we should be "dancing with the future".
Because it might just work.

A HR Manager yesterday said the last 12 sales reps they hired all came from.....guess. Make a guess. 

LINKEDIN. (shocke)

They DM all of them on LinkedIn. 

One - I'm not shocked. 
Two - It shows you that this platform matters in your job search. 
Three - The best way persons get your resume is by finding you on LinkedIn.
Four - They looking on LinkediN first and not recruitment websites. 

And if your DMs are dry. 

It probably means your visibility needs work. 

An Optimized profile does wonders when youre job searching. 

So if you're tired of dry DMs you can change that on Dec 2nd.

Many thanks to Stacy Quan and Richard Quan for the invite to speak to their audience of estheticians, spa owners and skin care professionals today. 

My message was simple.
🟨 Grow revenues from your existing clients. 
🟨 Use them to create your ideal client profile and buyer personas and attract new clients. 
🟨 Create a ton of content about their business. 

I got the audience to engage and even got a few questions which made the talk wven better!

Even though the industry was different the challenges are the same. 

Ever business wants to do these three things as well. 

And to not do it and rely only on word of mouth not a good strategy. 

I think  I convinced some of them to change that going forward. 

I'm grateful for it. 

P.S. no one even noticed my giant pores.

I keep telling persons ICATT's conference isnt just for accountants and financial professionals. 

If your business uses money then you should attend this. 

Not just for the speakers but for the persons in the room and getting a chance to speak to them on their perspectives.

The topics are super relevant to everyone. 

Right now I'm listening to Chay Gomez crush his presentation on Risk Redefined. 

Earlier Anthony Norman Sabga III touched in turning disruption in opportunities. 

The perspectives are wide and deep. 

Also, I'm like a fish out of water. I know so little but I'm willing to ask questions to learn to understand their perspectives. 

This is my third year attending and I'm getting massive value...again. 

At the end of the day these are the persons that approve our budgets for training. 

No matter how you view 2026's outlook these are the persons you should be having discussions with. 

Speaking of 2026. I can't wait to see what Marsha Caballero and the ICATT - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago bring next year.

Coaching increases any training's ROI. 

It keeps the momentum. 

It allows for a deeper dive on what was taught. 

It gives everyone the opportunity to see how it is used in the field. 

It makes what was taught stick...

And for every manager saying it costs too much think about this. 

Right after training performance spikes...then it dips. Sometimes back to the previous performance levels or even lower. 

That happens about 50% of the time. 

Coaching keeps that performance going. 

It avoids your team from going back to their od ways. 

Give them tailored strategies to achieve their quotas consistently. 

Boosts their confidence and your revenues for the long term.

This isn't a too good to be true. 

It's a payoff too easy not to take....

Need but no budget....

When customers have a need and there's urgency behind it...they'll find budget.

No urgency, then its a nice to have. Not a need to have. 

Guess which one gets a budget? 

So your job is two fold. 

Uncover and validate the urgency through discovery and two, get the prospect to agree that they will find the budget. 

But thats the serious anwer.

The fun answer....

WTF. 
My eyes roll so far back in my head they used me as a stunt double for the undertaker. 
Why are we meeting?

Following up with customers can feel so frustrating at times. But here's the truth.

You gave up too early. Most stop after 3-4 tries. Statistically its 7-11 attempts.

You just follow up. In other words you give no value on each call. 

You used one method. Variety is the spice of following up. Use email, phone, whatsapp, linkedin DMs. 

You don't have a break up message. In other words a message if they haven't responded to any of your messages. 

Following up with prospects requires strategy not impulse. 

Always have a plan for "what if"

You can sit with your team and create a strategy that can be templates and adapted for each client that makes following up effortlessly and increases the chances of your closing the sale.

If 10% of your followers on social media brought from youn would that be enough to sustain your business. 

Yes? Then here's what you can do to make that hapoen. 

If someone follows you on your social media account a great way to start the conversation is with a message....a video message. 

Think about that. 

A personal outreach to start the conversation.

They followed you for a reason. 

Why not ask? 

And I gave this example at my last sales talk. 

This was for spa owners. 

Message each follower. Say thanks for following. Invite them to check out your services. 

But use their engagement (the follow) to start the conversation.
