My first month as a freelancer is done.

Exciting. Fun. Slightly uncomfortable. Exactly what I hoped for.

What stood out this first month:

🔹 I enjoyed the freedom and the discomfort of having to sell myself and acquire my own clients.
 🔹 Fully booked with great clients, helping them strengthen experimentation capability and decision-making.
 🔹 Learned more than I expected about insurance and administration. Not my favorite part.
 🔹 Experienced how many people are willing to help when you start something new. Super grateful.
 🔹 Planned to build my website. Didn't happen. Too busy.
 🔹 Sent my first invoices. That felt satisfying.
 🔹 Worked a few days alongside friends. The first day as a freelancer with Desiree van der Horst 🍹, Lucia van den Brink ✨️, and Daphne Tideman was fun (image)!

The most fun and complex challenge so far? Positioning.
How do I clearly describe what makes me unique?
And what do I actually call myself?

With help from Lucia and a lot of thinking, for now I'm going with:

Will experimentation die because of AI?
No.

CRO will change.
AI will automate parts of research, analysis, and testing.

But experimentation is a decision-making system.

Just like in science, where experiments provide the strongest form of evidence (see the hierarchy of evidence).

While AI will change a lot, we will always be making decisions. And the best decisions are evidence-based.

Of course, in a very extreme future where AI makes all decisions, many jobs might disappear, and we could all sit on a white beach enjoying a piña colada or banana rum cocktail created by AI.

But until that day, organisations still need to make decisions.
And experimentation remains one of the best ways to make them well.
