CoolSys - Refrigeration and HVAC Systems

During Coffey's tenure, CoolSys, became the largest specialty HVAC and refrigeration service company in North America.  Having completed 23 acquisitions, Coffey grew revenues by 278%, EBITDA by 365%, and saw employee headcount eclipse the 3000 mark.  In April of 2019, he led the company through the private equity sale of CoolSys from The Audax Group (Boston) to Ares Management (NYSE:ARES).

WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems

During Coffey's tenure, WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems was the leading provider of outsourced laundry equipment and service to the multi-unit housing industry in North America. WASH was headquartered in El Segundo, California, and had operations in both the US and Canada. Established in 1947, WASH had 1200 employees, 31 branch offices, 70,000 customer locations, an installed base of over 550,000 machines and 7 million users. WASH was known for providing superior customer service, had a 98% customer retention rate and average customer tenure of over 20 years!  During Coffey’s time at the helm, spanning 13 years and 3 unique sets of shareholders that included the founding family, WASH tripled in size through the successful integration of 30+ acquisitions and reached an enterprise value of $1B.

Masterplan, Inc.

Masterplan was a leading, national, third party provider of outsourced imaging and biomedical repair services to hospitals and medical facilities across the United States.  In this assignment Adam was responsible for creating a new business model designed to restore profitability to a struggling, failed, former public company. Key to the turnarounds success was the hiring of a new core executive management team, the successful implementation of an award winning ERP platform and the key strategic acquisition of the industry’s leading parts supplier.  Private equity owned by Three Cities Research (NYC), Masterplan was ultimately sold to Berkshire Partners (Boston) and later became a division of Aramark (NYSE:ARMK).

GE Healthcare

Central Atlantic Zone Operations Manager, one of five service zones in the USA.  In this position Adam was responsible for impacting multiple area business units in a COO type role.  Responsible for service delivery metrics, service sales, customer support etc.  Impacted GE Healthcare on a national level through innovative creation and leadership of GE Direct Services, a new business that sold goods to competitors for purposes of facilitating multi-vendor service to hospitals.  During his tenure in this role Adam became a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

Zone Operations Manager

Service Manager responsible for 30 direct reports providing medical repair services to hospitals throughout Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri.  One of 3 service leaders comprising the Mid America LCT, one of GE's 21 service business units in the USA.  Cross functional, helped lead complete transformation of a poor performing unit and turned it into one of GE's top units.  Consistent code 1 performer (top 5% of GE) and multiple stock option awardee.

Area Service Manager

Senior Engineer and Engineering Group Leader for the CT and MRI Modalities.  Working engineer, oversaw service delivery to hospitals throughout Michigan.  Pioneered cross functional initiatives for GE Medical including ground breaking training for sales people on a national scale.  Recognized as a code 1 performer every year (top 5% of GE) multiple stock option awardee.

R-Squared Scan Systems, Inc.

Responsible for managing service, sales and growing the business in Michigan.  Working CT Engineer, sold millions of dollars in maintenance contracts to hospitals in Michigan.  R-Squared was ultimately acquired and became part of GE Healthcare.

National Technical Support Engineer for CT (Computerized Tomography "CAT" Scanners).  Supported over 100 engineers on a national basis with technical issues.  When engineers in the field were stumped or needed telephone or on site support with equipment issues they called the Technical Support Group for help.

Adam proudly served in the United States Army from 1982 to 1986.  Coming out of high school in 1982, the US Army provided Adam with discipline, direction and a solid foundation from which to build his life upon.  Adam was "Soldier of the Cycle" in Basic Training, "First in Class" in Electronics School,  "Distinguished Honor Graduate" in Radar Repair Systems School, and "Soldier of the Year" in 1984 for the 2nd Armored Division.  He received 2 Army Commendation Medals, 3 Army Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Badge and received an Honorable Discharge.
