Responsible for building the backend for a fintech mobile & web app that helps users achieve their financial goals by providing goals, milestones & guidelines to alter behavioural patterns and how users think about money.

As one of the leads for the product, my responsibilities consist of:

• Managing workloads for & requirements for 5 developers.
• Implementing integrations with external teams.
• Developing tools & improving workflow for entire team.
• Creating, Deploying & Building microservices in Python/Django.
• Integrations with ACH transfers & Banking Aggregations(Accounts, Transactions, Debt)

Senior Python Engineer

Sila

Joined the backend team at Sila and helped with their new initiatives that were focused on improving organization productivity.

Together with the finance team, we were able to automate the billing process and reduce the 15+ hours a month the finance team had to spend manually generating the invoices for customers.

This process involved several integrations(Google Sheets, AWS S3, Quickbooks) and more.

Software Development Consultant

Nagish

Worked with the Nagish team to help migrate from a GQL API to a Rest API using the OpenAPI V3 standard, using the OpenAPI V3 spec opened many doors.

• The API behavior and accuracy were now accurate
• Serverside stubs could be generated
• A client SDK could be developed from the spec.

By moving to OpenAPI V3, it became a lot easier to build the backend and integrate the front end.

Rock It

Helped a non-technical Founder design, build, test, and launch an MVP mobile application in 3 months.

When I was asked to join the project, development was significantly behind due to the existing team in place not delivering and dragging their feet on the work.

I reviewed Github with the Founder and we determined based on the commit history that several team members were billing full work weeks but not committing code to the repository.

We were able to cut ties with unproductive team members, increase the marketing budget, and hire productive engineers that allowed us to make up for lost time,

The mobile app launch was successful and 2,000 users signed up in a span of several hours, we continued to add new integrations and features based on user feedback.

Global Payments Inc.

Lead Engineer for the Enterprise Integration and Onboarding team.

Wrote complex, resilient and distributed systems in both Python and Go with high code coverage, logging, concurrency and monitoring.

Responsible for the most important client features as well as ensuring they are properly implemented and successfully deployed to production.
 In close contact with clients and integration development teams to provide a seamless integration between our platforms.

Designing and architecting new solutions using AWS services such as (Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, ECS, Elasticache, API Gateway, Dynamo, S3, EC2, CW, SES and SSM).

Responsible for distributing workload amongst 5 team members, 3 offshore in Ukraine and 2 on site.

Involved in the success of multiple different components due to experience of understanding the whole picture and what's involved to actually complete a project end to end.

Senior Software Engineer

Lead of Enterprise Legacy Integration & Onbording, using both Python and Go I was able to put in place new architecture in AWS using Lambda, Kinesis, API Gateway which reduced the time to onboard enterprise customers from our legacy POS(IRIS/EDM) to our new POS(Xenial) by 2 orders of magnitude. The architecture was using a Python OOP approach which supported custom configuration for each customer and allowed for a robust and rapid development.

Created a Delete and Archive strategy which after every ETL processes deleted the old data and archived it to s3 in a Mongo importable format(BSON) which allowed us to revert data back to previous states quickly.

Implemented Grubhub integration for our largest enterprise client(Taco Bell) which allowed them to launch delivery service for the first time.

I Created a lot of tools for EngOps written in Go to maintain data integrity & improve productivity.

Backend Engineer

Wrote both the front facing website and the internal website used by our different departments(Customer Service, Marketing, Finance, etc..). Managed our servers on Digital Ocean as well as harden the server with Fail2Ban and whitelisting IP’s.

The website is a traditional server rendered app powered by Django and Python. Our stack consisted of Django, PostgreSQL, Gunicorn, Nginx, Linux, Redis and Celery as our distributed task queue. 

Integration with many 3rd party services, Writing custom templates for email campaigns & batch sending them via SendGrid. Writing the cron jobs to send texts to customers who have a pickup scheduled the next day. I also wrote hooks that tied into OnFleet so we could create a pickup manifest for all the successful pickups everyday.

• Twilio (Text messages)
• SendGrid(Emails)
• SurveyMonkey(Surveys)
• ZenDesk(Customer Support)
• OnFleet(Logistics Management)
• Google Places API(Location)

As part of a small team I played a really important role in the development life cycle. My responsibility was mainly on front end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript(Vue.js, Angular). 

Projects were small to mid sized(1-15 pages) and timelines were tight so as soon as I received the final requirements and PSD's for a project I got right to building the front end because there wasn't any additional time to for anything else.

Each project requirement was significantly different and ranged in complexity both in terms of design and functionality which taught me a lot and allowed me to be put in many different situations where I had to learn how to overcome not knowing how to implement the solution in HTML/CSS or JavaScript.

I've been in my feelings lately and I thought I'd explain why I share so much about my past work. 

It's less about the past achievements on a personal level (although I am human and I would be lying if I didn't want to talk about the stuff that made my career). 

But I feel that I was able to participate in one of the most exciting times to build in our country. 

These stories about the ISS, the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, the Webb, the Alpha laser...

These are all examples of what our country achieves when we’re not afraid to take high risks.

When we don’t back off and we press forward.

So I guess with that said, LET'S PRESS FORWARD and KEEP WRITING OUR STORY!!

This is my first grade class at PS 93 in 1946. 

The world was not a pretty place between 1939 and 1945, when totalitarianism broke out. 

It was only because of the technology advancement that we had in America, and our selfless servicemen and their families, that we made it through the horrors of World War Two. 

When it ended as a child, I remember the happiness in the street and the thought there was going to be no more war.

But by the sixth grade in 1952, the happiness at the end of WWII faded because we were doing duck and cover dives in case of an atomic bomb attack. 

In 1961 the Russians exploded the largest hydrogen bomb ever, 50 to 58 megatons. 

It was horrifying. 

Living at that time, America had no other choice but to develop hard technology.

Thoughts on how to become the premier advanced technologies team: 

1. Hire talent with intuition. 

2. Pay them the good $$$$ (if you can prove to achieve #1, #2 will follow).

3. Make them believe they can produce the impossible faster than any other team in the world.
