Getting Super Fit Again 

After my 30s largely revolved around work and our then infant kiddos, on turning 40, I decided to return to my endurance athletics roots. I strove - and largely succeeded - to get as fit again in my 40s as I was aged 18-25 when my life largely revolved around competing in Stanford Crew and semi-professional triathlon:

MARATHON SWIMMING (July 2022 - Aug. 2023): I spent ~20 hours/week training for a range of marathon cold water swims without a wetsuit:
* San Francisco Bay: Candlestick Park to Ghirardelli Square (10 miles), Golden Gate Bridge to Bay Bridge (6 miles), Around Angel Island (5 miles)
* Other locales: Lake Tahoe Full Width (12 miles), Portland Bridge Swim (11 miles), Croatia Coast (10 miles), Half Marathon in a 25-yard pool (13.1 miles). Started but didn’t complete crossing the English Channel (21 miles); I picked a bad day to have a bad day.
* Watched the entire “The West Wing” (156 episodes) in 40-minute, up-to-the-neck, cold-plunge soaks in 12 degrees C/53 degrees F water to acclimate my body to cold water. Not recommended to anybody.
* Gorged on cheese and ice cream to gain ~15 pounds in the "wrong places" to mimic the blubber found in sea mammals to acclimate to cold water. Also not recommended to anybody.
*[For the nerds] Got resting heart rate to 41. 

HIGH VOLUME PUSH-UPS (Jan. - Aug. 2021): During pre-vaccine COVID, while housebound, I decided to do too many push-ups, highlighted by:
* 1,000 push-ups in <1 hour (5-6 every 20 seconds)
* 3,000 push-ups in <6 hours (8-9 every 60 seconds)
* [For the nerds] For 1,000 in <1 hour: 6 every 20 secs, then 5 every 20 secs 

ROAD BIKE RACING & TOURING (Oct. 2017 - June 2019)
* Raced for SunPower Alto Velo cycling team in ~30 Northern California races, ending abruptly with a nasty crash, broken scapula, and immediate “retirement” (see pic)
* Biked 850 miles from LA to Albuquerque over 7 days
* [For the nerds] Reached Functional Threshold Power (FTP) of 340 Watts (~4.5 watts/kg) + climbed Old La Honda in 17:05

After 5+ years on the Go-To-Market (GTM) side of LinkedIn, first in sales and then in marketing, I spent 7 years in LinkedIn's product team, building out a complementary R&D and then General Manager skill set.

My first product leadership role was plugging into Lynda.com following LinkedIn's 2015 acquisition, building, launching, and scaling LinkedIn Learning. My team's primary focus was our Enterprise business, where we grew revenues >10X from 2015-22, becoming the market leader in Enterprise learning. 

Starting in mid-2020, I added product responsibility for Glint, a 2018 acquisition in the employee engagement space, and acted as the primary Point of Contact with LinkedIn's executive team after Glint's two co-founders departed. I partnered closely with Microsoft leadership, culminating in Glint fully moving from LinkedIn to join Microsoft in April 2022 as part of its Viva product suite. 

Apr 2021 - Sept 2022: Senior Director of Product. Spanning LinkedIn Learning and Glint, I led a team of 13 PMs, including managing Product Directors and LinkedIn's only Senior Principal Product Manager (SPPM).

Overall, I'm a Generalist. After Consulting at Bain before and after HBS, I joined LinkedIn in early 2010 and spent 12.5 years moving across functions and leadership roles: I started in Sales Strategy and Analytics before moving to Marketing, then to Product Management, and finally to General Management. 

To tell my longer story, 3 dates from 3 decades help:

Sept. 22, 1995: I travelled 5,000 miles from my London hometown to Stanford. I was drawn to studies, sports, sunshine, and a Bay Area culture more focused on creating the future than curating the past. I rowed on the Stanford Varsity Crew team and studied psychology for my B.A. and M.A. And I've stayed close: I can see the Stanford campus from our backyard.

Sept. 13, 2004: I joined Bain Bay Area as an entry-level Consultant. After a few years of racing triathlon and working in sports business, I was drawn to Bain’s entrepreneurial culture and fast-paced learning environment. Looking back, my strategy and comms chops were forged at Bain, as was a lifelong love of Excel, PowerPoint, and Cinnabon.  

March 8, 2010: I left Bain to join a pre-IPO LinkedIn with ~500 employees and ~$100M in revenue. I was initially drawn to the hypergrowth environment but quickly learned I’d found far more. First, a vision that deeply resonated - to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce - and, second, a set of inspiring leaders teaching me how a culture and values focus could underpin incredible businesses. Over the next 12.5 years, my roles and responsibilities varied: in function from sales strategy, analytics & insights to marketing to product to GMing; in scope from being an IC to leading ~100 person teams; and in scale from helping run our largest, multi-billion dollar recruiting business to jumping in to help lead our acquisitions of Lynda.com (2015) and Glint (2018). 

Outside of work, I'm a long-term elite endurance athlete (rowing > Ironman > marathons > bike racing > marathon swimming) and compulsive reader and film-goer. 100% of you chat with AI assistants daily. But I'd guess fewer than 10% of you have tried building something with AI - because "building" sounds technical and hard. But they're exactly the same skill. 

I'm not deeply technical, but my nights and weekends are now consumed with building: a workout tracker and film site for me, an AI tutor and License Plate Game for the kids. A long backlog ahead that I can’t wait to dig into. 

And although code is being written, I'm not coding - I'm giving instructions. To Replit, Claude Code (from Anthropic), Cursor and occasionally others. I'll learn some Python soon, but from curiosity, not necessity. 

It's the most fun creatively I've had in a long time. Spotify, Wispr Flow for voice input, and building = a flow state that reminds me of long Excel sessions back in the day (without the Bain & Company deadlines). 

If you haven't started because it sounds hard: it's not. Thanksgiving in the US is a great excuse to dive in. My recommended starting point: Replit - it handles everything from build to host.

A quick love letter to Superhuman Mail and Notion for making a 6-hour flight (hello, New York!) so much more enjoyable

I'm struck by the polish and delight in both products: both convey that the PMs, designers, and engineers have taken the time to deeply know their user and agonize over every single flow and minor detail. I worked offline - a much tougher bar - and both executed flawlessly

I’ve been a longterm fan boy of Notion - I have 20K+ notes and rely upon it as my digital control centre - but I spent an hour catching up on personal email using the Superhuman Mail iOS app and came away equally impressed: it blends feeling incredibly simple and incredibly powerful, an unusual balance to strike

There’s a famous Steve Jobs craftsmanship story about how his father,  a carpenter, insisted on the backs and insides of his cabinets being made up of high quality wood even though nobody would ever see them. I get this same vibe from the product and UX teams at Superhuman Mail and Notion: they've thought through ALL the corner cases, even the ones that are very very unlikely for most people to ever experience

It’s not a coincidence that co-founders Rahul Vohra (Superhuman) and Akshay Kothari (Notion) also co-founded previous companies that were acquired by LinkedIn: LinkedIn has always had a product-led culture and a great eye for product talent when acquiring companies 

Rahul and Akshay: kudos and thank you for building such amazing products and companies. I can’t wait to see what you’re working on next - my flight back to SF is Friday if you've got anything special shipping before then ;)

My AI stack closing out 2025: 12 months ago, half didn’t exist; the rest were shells of what they offer today:

1. BROWSER, SEARCH, & NEWS: Comet from Perplexity and Perplexity in general; my go-to for quick answers on everything

2. EMAIL: Superhuman Mail; once I took the time to customize it and learn the shortcuts, I do indeed feel superhuman

3. MEETING SUMMARIES: Granola; its core product always works, and they’re innovating fast

4. VOICE TO TEXT: Wispr Flow; the biggest habit change I made in 2025 — >70% of my 'typing' is no longer typing

5. VOICE ASSISTANT: ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode from OpenAI; while driving or walking, I’m probably 50% podcasts, 50% talking to ChatGPT

6. WRITING: Claude from Anthropic and Notion; Claude just gets me, and the Notion integration is incredible, I love the combo

7. BASIC IMAGES: Claude or Claude Code; capabilities here are improving quickly, including creating the image below

8. FANCIER IMAGES: ChatGPT or Gemini Nano Banana Pro from Google; I especially love the new GPT Image 1.5, live as of yesterday!

9. DEEP REASONING: I have the weakest opinion here - I rotate between Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, often using all of them for a query

10. BUILDING QUICK PROTOTYPES: Replit; I started with Replit, and its all-in-one nature has never let me down

11. BUILDING MORE POWERFUL SITES/PRODUCTS: Claude Code and Cursor; both turn this non-coder into a (super happy) one-person dev team

12. AUTOMATING FLOWS/AGENTS: Claude Code connected to APIs (e.g., Spotify, YouTube, Notion, news feeds) or using Relay.app; Claude Code is so powerful, Relay.app is a seamless, one-stop shop

🎁 The surprise: no AI products from Microsoft, Apple, or Meta in my daily stack. Only sporadic use of Alexa+ (95% for music/Audible) from Amazon and NotebookLM from Google - until Nano Banana Pro/Gemini 3 last month. 

My daily stack runs almost entirely on companies most of us hadn't heard of before ChatGPT launched 3 years ago. 

And it relies most heavily on Claude from Anthropic, my MVP for personal use cases for the third year running 🏆

Claude Code is my new favourite Swiss Army Knife for building and creating.

And I write this as somebody who doesn't code.

With Spotify Wrapped dropping this week, I'd normally just scroll through, share with a few friends, and move on. But in today's AI world, I thought: Why not dig into my last decade of Spotify Wrapped data?

A year ago, I wouldn't have done this. It would have been days of digging into spreadsheets, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs. And then doing my best to fumble with design software to create an infographic.

Using my trusted partner, Claude Code, we built this infographic in under 2 hours:
1️⃣ I had it pull my top 100 songs from each year via the Spotify API
2️⃣ We ran some analysis to find patterns
3️⃣ We iterated on content and design to create the whole infographic.

Claude Code was the ONLY TOOL I used.

No spreadsheets. No Canva or Figma. No copying and pasting between apps.

Claude Code isn't just a coding tool. It's a research assistant, data analyst, image generator, and overall builder all rolled into one. The "Code" in the name undersells it: I'd think of it as Claude Agent or Claude Everything.

On the actual music front, a few fun facts: 
→ Taylor Swift accounts for >15% of my top 1000 songs from the decade: 153 distinct songs! #ProudSwiftie
→ Some songs hit hard for one year, then vanished: "drivers license" from Olivia Rodrigo was my #1 in 2021 and "everything i wanted" from Billie Eilish was my #3 in 2023, neither to be heard again in future years #OneYearWonders
→ The "Frozen" soundtrack and "Truck Tunes" crushed it for a few years when the kiddos were tiny #IMissToddlerDadLife

Claude Code + YouTube API = your own personal video playlist curator

YouTube's algorithm is good, but it's partially driven by ad revenue and what it thinks will keep me on site. I spent <1 hour last night with Claude Code to automate the perfect playlist for me:

1️⃣ Every morning, I'll wake up to 25 fresh videos tailored to my interests:
- 15 videos from my favourite channels (e.g., No Priors with Sarah Guo or 20VC with Harry Stebbings)
- 10 videos on topics I'm interested in (right now, mainly AI and tennis)
- Smart duration filtering: no videos under 60 seconds, at least 5 medium-length (10-19 min), at least 5 deep dives (20+ min)
- Zero duplicates, zero content I've already watched

2️⃣ RUNS AUTOMATICALLY IN THE CLOUD: Using GitHub Actions, this now updates every morning - no computer or prompting needed, completely hands-free and automated

3️⃣ MORE FOCUS, LESS DOOM SCROLLING: Until last night, I'd hit YouTube and get sucked into content I hadn't planned to watch. Now, in theory at least, I'll go straight to my "Latest & Greatest" playlist and stay more on point.

Looking forward, now that I've connected Anthropic's Claude Code, YouTube, and GitHub, I'm excited to build more custom playlists + better understand how much I'm actually watching and on what topics - maybe it'll be all Rafael Nadal highlights and no AI?? ;)

HOW TO DO THIS:
1. Install Claude Code (works best locally; plenty of YouTube tutorials to help)
2. Ask Claude Code to walk you through setting up Google Cloud Console, enabling YouTube Data API v3, and creating OAuth credentials 
3. Describe what content you want in plain English 
4. Connect to GitHub - Claude Code will guide you - to automate the flow daily/weekly

My Claude Code fun with YouTube last night and Spotify last weekend highlights the power of AI to help us personalize our experiences and reclaim our attention. BigTech's algorithms are great, but why not tailor our content to exactly what we want?

Finally, I'd LOVE it if we could more precisely tailor our LinkedIn feeds versus needing to mute people and tune our notifications one connection at a time. I may know enough about LinkedIn - including its API policies and ad business - to know that'll never happen, but a boy can always dream ;)

Claude Code + Spotify API = music superpowers for all of us

Spotify Wrapped is fun - but it's once a year. I've been using Claude Code to go well beyond what Spotify can natively offer:

1️⃣ CUSTOM DISCOVER WEEKLY FOR PODCASTS: Twice a week, I get 25 podcast recommendations blending new episodes from must-listen shows I already follow - e.g., No Priors from Sarah Guo or The Rewatchables with Bill Simmons - and guests I want to track. E.g., if Andrej Karpathy is interviewed on any podcast, I find out. Think Google Alerts for podcasts, the 2025 AI-powered version, with a completely customized prompt just for my interests

2️⃣ DYNAMIC PLAYLISTS: My "Top 25 from the Last 30 Days" and "Top 50 - All Time" that auto-update based on my actual listening data.

3️⃣ MY DECADE IN REVIEW: Using only Claude Code and the Spotify API, I pulled together a fun look back on a decade of listening on Spotify. Turns out it was >15% Taylor Swift. No regrets :) See here for the 8-page infographic: https://lnkd.in/dN9Xdzmz

WHAT'S NEXT:

1. "AM I BRANCHING OUT?" ANALYSIS: A weekly report to show me how much of my listening is new - songs and artists - versus repeat listening. There's nothing wrong with repeat listening, but I want >30% to be net-new, so I'll get 100 new songs every Monday. Think Discover Weekly, but larger and even more tailored to me.

2. DEEP CUTS I'VE MISSED: An automatically-generated playlist pulling songs I've never heard from artists I already love.

3. FORGOTTEN FAVORITES: Songs I used to play on repeat but haven't touched in 6+ months, automatically brought back into rotation. The musical equivalent of finding a favorite shirt in the back of your closet.

HOW TO DO THIS:
1. Install Claude Code on your computer (you can do this on the web too, but it works best on your machine; any YouTube tutorial will guide you)

3. Create a free developer app (takes 2 minutes)
4. Get your Client ID and Client Secret
5. Describe what you want in plain English to Claude Code - giving it your Spotify credentials - going back-and-forth until it's exactly what you want

Claude Code handles the OAuth flow, API calls, error handling, scheduling—pretty much everything that sounds complicated and technical, but isn't now that you're using natural language.

MY OVERALL TAKEAWAYS:
1️⃣ Claude Code is amazing - it's fast becoming the single product I recommend most to anybody, even more so if you're not technical
2️⃣ AI assistants let us build in minutes what we'd never have tackled before - the time investment pre-AI was just too prohibitive

17 years ago, I watched Iron Man as a 10-year-old kid in Delhi. That night, I pulled my first all-nighter teaching myself to code. Not because I wanted to build apps or make money.

My parents gave me 1 hour of screen time per day. So I coded in secret, sleeping every alternate night through middle school and high school. Built 50+ apps. Got a cease and desist from Google at age 12.

All for this one obsession: making computers understand us like humans do.

Fast forward to today:
- We've raised $81M total to build the voice operating system
- Growing revenue 40% month-over-month this year
- 70% user retention after one year (unheard of in consumer)
- Teams at 270 of the Fortune 500 use Wispr Flow daily

Our Series A2 was led by Hans Tung at Notable Capital (who was an early investor in five companies that made it to $100B valuation like Slack, Tiktok, and Airbnb). Steven Bartlett also joined as an investor and partner.

After 10+ years of Amazon Echos in our house, Alexa+ finally feels like AI

Is it as conversational as OpenAI's advanced voice mode? Nope. 

Does the underlying AI feel as powerful? Nope. 

But just saying "Alexa" or "Ziggy" (my personal favourite) means zero friction. No unlocking. No typing. No tapping. Just talking.

Overall, it just makes me more excited about where wearables take us next, whether a Pin or Glasses or something else, so that our AI assistants are always available to us in a "no touch" manner.

BTW, if Google or Apple have something better, I'm all ears. Especially if there are Cyber Monday sales ;)

I cold-called literally 50-100 people every day in this role. I was shocked that this practice still existed in a large tech company. But it taught me resilience, persistence, and how to connect with literally anyone in 30 seconds. I'm appreciative of this opportunity to get me started in my career and learn how to be a professional.

Someone who had done this program before me described it as "adult summer camp". Could not agree more. The BLP program was wonderful. It was the entry into big tech that I needed. It has completely changed my personal and professional life. The people I met in the program have become some of my best friends. 

For work, they threw us right into the fire. We spent 3 months on our customer service team learning how to support angry people paying tons of money for LinkedIn products. It helped me understand how we make money, why customers buy our products, and why they do not. I struggled a lot in this role. I think it was because I didn't focus enough on onboarding, and was excited about my "next play". This was a good lesson for me; you have to succeed in the role you're in before looking for the next one. 

We then went into recruiting. I was on our Data Science recruiting team. I had no idea what I was talking about but learned how to sell candidates on LinkedIn. I learned that sometimes our hiring practices favour prestige (big company, great school, etc) which made me passionate about supporting those from underrepresented backgrounds. 

Along with these two official "rotations", I built a lot of great relationships with folks that have become my mentors. I helped to sell our learning product (LinkedIn Learning) to my alma mater. I got to work on a proposal to sell LinkedIn to the Canadian government. And I started working on side projects on the Business Development team, which led to a full-time role about a year later. 

I learned it takes a lot of patience to get what you want. I learned that building authentic relationships with professionals is key. I learned that people want to help if you ask for it.

Overall BLP was an amazing experience. I learned a ton and would recommend anyone else to do the same to get their feet wet within the tech industry, specifically for new grads.

This chapter of living in New York is wrapping up, even though I know I’ll be back and forth a lot. Wanted to share a few reflections on that. 

Ria and I came to the city both bootstrapping companies last year. Life on easy mode hey?!

A year in, we’ve made a ton of friends, found a real community, she exited her startup, we saw a 10x in revenue. The city just pushed us in the best way. Consultants have this frame of “up or out” for their roles in the business. I think New York is the same way. I think we went up and are going out haha! The pace here forced us to think bigger and run faster. I’m going to miss it a lot.

My friends always made fun of me for staying in the Pearl House. It’s this super nice amenity building in FiDi - gym, sauna, co-working, the whole vibe. The team would joke that if I was late to a morning call, I was probably in the spa lol. 

But in reality, this place changed our life. Ria and I furnished our first apartment. She threw a 30th birthday / conference for me. We’ve hosted events for the AI and tech community. NYC Tech Week, AI + PE night, most recently a focused event on AI services. It’s been fun watching people show up for each other here.

It also became “Casper HQ”. We started the year with three of us distributed. Now we’re 20 strong, with Derek and Kelly in the city. Both of them have changed the course of the company. Both relationships started right here.

Okay a few more notes on how I really love New York. 

The train trips out to Connecticut to meet a prospect. Running up and down the 4/5 from FiDi to Midtown to speak at an event. The energy, the randomness, the people, so fun.

We’re heading back to SF for now but I’ll definitely be spending a lot of time back and forth.

Even flirting with the idea of having a place in both cities… but for now, that’s feels a bit irresponsible.

So yes, a ton of flights back and forth coming up. And I’m excited for it. Excited to stay close to everything happening here, excited to keep building, and grateful for what this past year gave us.

Jimmy and I co hosted an AI services event in NYC last night. Also gave several of us on the Casper Studios an excuse to meet up too :) 

Had an executive at a large consulting firm fly out from Europe just for the evening!

Jimmy’s been a real leader in AI services. I’ve learned a ton from him, and he’s become one of my favorite founder friends.

It’s also been cool to see our team come together. We’re almost 20 today. Insane. 

Leo’s our tech lead for financial-services clients - he’s in town for an offsite with our $2B AUM hedge fund client.

Kelly runs product and delivery and somehow keeps the majority of our clients moving at once. We’ve been doing some incredible work with a $1b+ rev healthcare business. 

Elizabeth just joined (!!) and will be PM’ing more of our financial-services work. She’s coming with a mix of product, hedge fund, and PE experience. 

And of course Derek - my partner in crime and our COO a has been there through every chapter this long and eventful year. 

We’re collecting some fun stories as we grow. Was fun laughing and chatting through them last night. 

Grateful for everyone who came out to our last event in this beautiful NYC apartment before I head back west.

I’m a huge fan of Wispr Flow. It changed how I use my computer. I’m speaking for 90% of anything I write now. Even this post - I spoke it first, then cleaned it up with a little typing.

The thing I keep thinking about is how big this can get long-term. Is Whispr a feature or a platform? I can see it going either way. I was using Todoist today and noticed they now have voice built right into the product. They are calling it "Ramble" and it worked great.

It was the first time I’ve been impressed by someone else’s dictation tool. I’ve basically sworn off everything except Whispr until now.

So it makes me wonder: do most products ship their own simple voice dictation? If I were an exec at any product company, I’d be pushing for that. Voice data is incredibly valuable. It gives you way more context on a user than anything we’ve had before. It feels like something every platform will want to own not rent to another product.

Maybe Whispr Flow becomes the API everyone plugs into instead of trying to control the whole surface area. I feel like they'll even get more valuable data themselves if they move in that direction vs needing to own the consumer facing experience only. 

Scott Belsky recently wrote about this “rabbit” idea in AI - the thing that sprints ahead and sets the pace, but eventually fades once the rest of the pack catches up. 

Makes me think about how many AI tools today are rabbits. Maybe even some of the chatbots we’re using will be considered to be that way.

We had a senior director from a top consulting firm fly in from Barcelona just to spend 3 hours with Jimmy Bijlani and I at our AI services event last week. WHAT. 

He told us he’d been seeing me and Jimmy on LinkedIn for the past six months and wanted to come out and actually spend time with us.

The power of this platform is INSANE.

It’s still SO wild to me that this Stranger Things x Doritos voice activation ended up getting 400,000+ calls. We had a debrief with one of the main leads on the project and talked through what it says about where media and AI are going.

Biggest thing we landed on? AI is a new medium, not just a new tool. AI-generated audio/video isn’t just “cheaper production".

It’s like how films weren’t just "plays”. How short-form content isn’t just “tiny movies.” 

Each new format changed what stories you could tell. Who had access to them. AI generated video and music is a new form factor. It's not like video and music. More people can customize it. More people can create. 

The question isn’t ‘How do we use AI to make this thing better?’ It’s ‘What becomes possible now that we have AI?’ I’ve said this before - that shift sounds simple, but living it is hard work. Excited to keep pushing that work out.

This Netflix & Doritos voice activation continues to be incredible!! 400k+ people have called so far. Our vendors told us this is one of the top 5 voice AI experiences by volume (!) and they’re the ones powering all the big ones.

Makes sense given the incredible promotion Goodby Silverstein & Partners and others have been doing. So grateful to have been a small piece of this project.

People ask me all the time who I read in AI on a recurring basis. There’s only one: Sangeet Paul Choudary. 

He’s got a newsletter and a book called Reshuffle. His thinking is sharp, practical, and useful. 

I love how he talks about the history of technical shifts and uses that to frame how we should think about AI today. It gives great context and grounds me. It’s the kind of thinking that helps us guide clients on how to actually implement AI across their business.

I don’t recommend people often, time is valuable, but his work is worth it.

His piece this weekend was awesome. AI, professional services, how it relates to bento-boxes?!  Amazing.

People talk about building “AI-first” firms. AI-first consulting, AI-first banks, AI-first accounting. We've working with a team that’s actually doing it: by building an AI-native patent law firm.

We’ve been working with Michael Drapkin, Nathan Mutter, Christine Laberge, and the team to build this business and product.

They’re attorneys that Qualcomm, Coinbase, Salesforce trusted with the most critical IP – and they know what’s broken in the patent process. They’re building Landfall IP to help others with this problem.

Casper Studios has been partnering with them bring this to life! Their product just shipped. Let me tell you how it works.

The flow starts as a discovery voice agent that interviews inventors like a senior patent attorney would, structures ideas, surfaces core concepts, and generates patentability reports in real time. A process that takes weeks now happens in one conversation.

It’s been super fun taking the lessons learned with our Netflix and PepsiCo Stranger Things Voice Agent to apply them here. Sean, Amiel, Derek, and Elizabeth have been leading the work on our side.

There’s a pattern we keep seeing across $1B AUM PE firms OR F500 companies: nobody has a clean, real-time view of what’s happening across all the AI workstreams inside their portcos or business units.

Every product team, every BU, every portfolio company, every agent someone spun up last week—everything is moving fast, maybe even creating value, but the operational picture gets messy quick.

And the bigger the org, the bigger the problem. A single PE fund with 10–20 portcos suddenly has 30–50 active automation projects to keep track of. A Fortune 1000 with an AI Center of Excellence? Same story, just at a louder volume.

In the past, you’d hire someone to manage this. We’ve done that too. She used to be at an MBB firm doing PE diligence. She was the one in a meeting today who said, “nah, we should build a product or automation for ourselves to track all of this.”

So here’s the early version of what we think teams actually need to see:
-Every project
-Every ROI estimate
-Every baseline metric
-Every agent that’s been deployed
-Every business case rolled up to the fund or parent company

We’re starting to build something internally - a lightweight platform we can eventually externalize -to help teams manage and track all their AI work in one place.

Think of it as an internal “AI program OS.”

A simple way for a PE fund or a $5B+ company to see their full roadmap, understand the ROI of each automation, and make decisions with confidence as the number of projects grows across portcos or business units.

It doesn’t need to be overbuilt. It just needs to keep everyone aligned, move faster, and actually capture the value they’re creating.

We'll build this in public.

The teams that’ll win in AI don’t just build they share stories on what they’re learning. To be a leader at Casper you need to do great work AND create content about it.

It’s also a unique reason why to work here. We’ll all support each other to build an audience. That’ll carry with you everywhere else you go next. It’s a smaller scale version of myself working at Linkedin; it helped kickstart my audience because I was able to piggyback off of a brand of trust. 

Here are a few posts from the past few days from the team.

Google’s been on a run the last couple weeks. A lot of our clients, especially hedge funds and PE firms, have been on Gemini for months. For the financial analysis Google’s models have been strong.

My own day-to-day is still ChatGPT. It just knows me. Tone, style, memory, etc. Three years of context is hard to walk away from. Even if a model is “better,” starting fresh without that personalization feels rough. Testing Gemini these last few days reminded me of that. I prompt it and catch myself thinking, you should just know me by now!!

But the new Google stuff is wild.

Veo 3.1 for video. Nano Banana for images. The whole stack is real. 

I turned on Gemini Pro for the whole team so we can start playing with it yesterday.

What happens at the user level? Can I switch when ChatGPT has three years of my tone baked in? I’m staying open minded. 

Marc Benioff clearly has a take on this! Curious how you’re thinking about this :)

How should you prioritize what to automate with AI in your company? Start with the work that depletes your teams mental energy AND is critical to the business. 

I think about energy a lot. I’ve hired a team to do the things that don’t give me energy. I’ve automated most other things that didn’t need a person. These days I’m mostly only spending my time on sales, recruiting, and BD. Those things give me a TON of energy and make me better at what I do. 

Do this for your team too. How? 

Send a voice agent or a survey. Ask them when they feel most energized from their job. Ask them when they feel not energized by their job.

Take that and knock a few automations out so they get more freedom back. That can carry them into being a better team member for you.

Even better if you teach them how to do it themselves. Here’s an example from a recent client:

“What depletes energy in your day to day?”

“I know it’s important, but creating my weekly internal exec updates is very time consuming.”

“Great, how important is it to the business?”

“It’s very important. It’s how the execs know what’s going on to measure the health of the company.”

“Great, let’s start with that first.”

Then we’d either build an automation for them or teach them how to do the same thing, or both. Some of the easier wins can even be just showing people how to use a chatbot with the right prompts. 

Once they automate elements of it you can see the positive emotion in their expressions. That helps them become champions of AI. That’s what you need to drive change internally. 

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to balance the speed of automation with human flourishing. I think this may be one of the ways. Anything else in this light you’ve been reflecting on?
