- Designed and implemented image analysis pipeline. This pipeline brings together various imaging algorithms together and also supports versioning.
- Performance improvements of as much as 4x across various components of the analysis pipeline.
- Solely architected the app to support multiple windows in the Photos app.
- Integrated edit pipeline from windows 8.1 Photo editor into the viewer to show users enhanced version of their photos.
- Created an internal first party API to allow other apps to use the crop control in the Photos app.
- Worked with multiple teams in windows platform to get new features added to improve Photos app. 
- Mentored junior developers.
- Connected OneDrive album experience with Photos app album experience allowing users to manage or publish albums to OneDrive.
- Added album share so that users can share their favorite albums with friends and family.
- Working on getting more features in for the Photos app.

Shipped windows raw codec as part of windows update on windows 8.
- Performance improvements on arm 
- Deployment schema for windows update.

Photo Editor - Windows 8.1 Photos app. ( C++ 11, Direct2D, SIMD, XAML, PPL)
- Core member for the design of image editing effect pipeline, rending engine and a variety of edit features.
- Added the direct2d rendering engine in the photo editor.
- Performance improvements for edit features using vectorization and multi core programming.
- Ensured 30FPS on most devices.
- Added image straighten, blemish removal + local area pixel fix engine, revamped crop & selective focus and other contributions

Video Trim - Windows 8.1 Photos app. ( C++ 11, XAML, PPL)
- Implemented the complete video trim feature for the photos app.

Camera - Windows 8.1 Camera App ( C++ 11, PPL, XAML)
- Improved startup performance by more than 50%
- Improved performance of other core scenarios by significant amount.
- Feature contributions.

Stood up a TFS + git based build system for the team.

The project is very "research and development", meaning the dev team is very close to new features refinement, etc.

Some truths stay solid no matter what tools we use. Before AI, after AI, yesterday, tomorrow. The fundamentals do not bend.

1. Clear thinking beats clever code.
 If you do not understand the problem, no amount of generated code will save you.

2. Naming things is still painful.
 A bad name can ruin an otherwise good idea.

3. You spend more time reading code than writing it.
 You will read your own mess later. Write so it hurts less.

4. Software engineering is a team sport.
 Your success depends on how well you unblock others and how well they can build on your work.

5. Asking for help early is a strength, not a weakness.
 The sooner you ask, the less damage you create.

6. Communication skills matter more than your tech stack.
 Most real bugs come from people, not syntax.

7. Tests define what is real.
 AI helps you write code, but it cannot tell you what the correct behavior should be.

8. You will never feel like you know enough.
 Nobody does.

9. The best engineers improve the system, not just the code.
 Architecture, processes, handoffs, and clarity matter as much as logic in a function.

10. Curiosity always wins.
 AI amplifies who you already are. Your desire to learn sets the ceiling.

I was told I was too old to switch careers at 32.
Too old to break into tech. 
Too late to be any good at software engineering.
Too old to ever excel, to get to anything remotely interesting. 

(It was BS...)

But here's a different perspective:
If you're 30, 40 or even 45 today, you're likely not even halfway through your career.
So why not adapt? Start over? Rewrite the narrative?

I learned the hard way not to get confined to a box.

With retirement age shifting up and AI changing how we work, we'll probably (have to) reinvent ourselves more than once in a lifetime.

We’re already walking paths today that didn’t exist five years ago.

And five years from now? Whole new playbook.

I made the leap of faith at 32, from banking and sales into software engineering. Risky move! 
It wasn’t easy, but it was possible.  (Even though it often felt impossible).
And it changed everything for me.
