You can often predict whether a player will miss or score 
a penalty before the ball is kicked just by the walk.

Shoulders tense. Jaw tight.  
Focus: “Don’t miss.”  
Meaning: “If I fail, I let everyone down.”  
The body contracts. The shot hesitates.

WHAT IS A STATE?

The concept popularized by Tony Robbins is simple:
State is the combination of three elements:

1. Physiology  
Posture, breathing, movement. 
The body influences the mind.

2. Focus  
What you pay attention to. 
Threat or opportunity.

3. Meaning  
The story you assign. 
Failure or training.

Physiology shapes focus.  
Focus shapes meaning.  
Meaning drives action.  
Action drives results.

Before important conversations or decisions:

Not: “Why is this difficult?”  
But: “What is the opportunity here?”

First Principles - Relationships. 
Why great relationships are not about you but about the other person and what you build together.

Lady Randolph Churchill, Winston Churchill’s mother, 
once attended two dinners with 
two different British prime ministers.

After the first dinner she remarked:
"When I left the table, 
 I thought he was the most brilliant man in England."

After the second dinner she said:
"When I left the table, 
I thought I was the most brilliant woman in England."

The first man impressed her.
The second man made her feel valued.

Great relationships when 
others feel seen, valued, and understood.

Happiness
Quality relationships are the strongest 
predictor of long-term happiness 
(Waldinger & Schulz, 2023).

Health
Strong relationships significantly increase 
longevity and physical health
(Holt-Lunstad et al., 2010).

Resilience
Supportive relationships buffer stress and 
improve psychological resilience 
(Cohen & Wills, 1985).

 
WHAT actions to take

Five First Principles on Relationships

1. Trust
Trust grows through reliability and psychological safety. 
Keep your word, be consistent, listen without judgment,
and assume positive intent. 
Principle: Create psychological safety.

2. Understanding
Seek to truly understand the other person’s perspective, 
emotions, and aspirations. Ask thoughtful questions, 
listen carefully, and show genuine curiosity. 
Principle: Seek to understand first.

3. Appreciation
Express appreciation regularly. Notice small efforts, 
acknowledge strengths, and say thank you often. 
Principle: Show sincere appreciation.

4. Shared Meaning
Build experiences, rituals, and goals together. 
Travel, traditions, family habits, and common 
projects create shared memories and direction. 
Principle: Build something together.

5. Repair
Conflict is inevitable. What matters is repairing 
quickly. Apologize early, lower tension, and focus on
understanding rather than winning. 
Principle: Repair quickly.

The secret of great relationships is surprisingly simple:
Make the other person feel bigger.

First Principles - Relationships

Be a Free Spirit. 
Live by choice, not convention.

I find it fascinating what drives people 
to live their lives as they do.

There are countless explicit and implicit conventions 
about what a successful career looks like, 
what defines a great relationship, how to raise a family, 
and how to live healthily.

Many follow conventions without ever challenging them. 
They climb a ladder they never placed. 
They follow a script they did not write.

A free spirit is different.
“A free spirit is someone who is internally free enough 
to choose their life deliberately and 
brave enough to accept the consequences.”


WHY it matters

Agency
A free spirit strengthens agency 
Higher perceived control increases motivation, 
persistence, and performance under uncertainty 
(Bandura, 1997).

Coherence with What Matters
Living by chosen values increases coherence. 
When behavior aligns with intrinsic goals, well-being and 
sustained motivation rise significantly 
(Deci & Ryan, 2000).

Flexibility & Resilience
Detachment from rigid identity increases adaptability. 
Psychological flexibility improves resilience
(Kashdan & Rottenberg, 2010).


WHAT to do

1. Awareness & Detachment
List the conventions shaping your career, relationships, 
money, and health. Question each: 
Did I choose this or inherit it?
Principle: See the script

2. Curiosity
Expose yourself to alternative models of success 
and living. Read outside your field. Seek opposing views. 
Curiosity expands possibilities. 
Principle: Expand the frame

3. North Star
Define your core values, long-term ambition, 
and non-negotiables. 
Write a one-page personal constitution. 
Freedom requires direction, not drift. 
Principle: Choose your direction

4. Courage
Act in alignment even when approval declines. 
Make one visible decision that optimizes for meaning 
over optics this year. 
Freedom requires tolerating friction. 
Principle: Accept the cost

5. Discipline
Build systems that protect your autonomy: 
health routines, financial runway, deep work blocks. 
Discipline sustains freedom over time. 
Principle: Protect your freedom

Being a free spirit is not about rebellion. 
It is about authorship.

Be A Free Spirit

Either / Or:  How to make major life decisions?
A simple question provides the right path. 

Major life decisions. Everyone faces them.  
Do I pursue this career or that career?  
Do I stay in my current job or change?  
Do I engage with this partner or another?  
Do I commit to the relationship?  
Should we get married?  
Should we have children?
  
All of these are major life decisions.
  
Some decisions feel clear; 
Others are far less obvious.  
Because they offer different paths.  
They involve trade-offs. 
Those choices can lead to regret
The regret of an alternative life.
  
I recently came across a beautifully 
simple question for navigating such choices.  
It comes from Søren Kierkegaard in Either/Or:
  
“𝗢𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀

WHY it matters
  
Clarity
Focusing on intolerable regret simplifies

Decisions aligned with deeply held values 
create stronger motivation and persistence  
(Self-Determination Theory; Deci & Ryan, 2000).
  
Life Satisfaction
People who make decisions consistent with 
intrinsic priorities report higher long-term 
life satisfaction and lower regret 
(Schwartz et al., 2002).
  

WHAT to do 
  
1. Imagine Both Futures
Visualize both life paths in vivid detail
career, relationships, daily life, identity. 
Notice which imagined future creates 
deeper excitement or discomfort.
 
2. Identify the Regret
 Ask: ten years from now, which missed path 
would create the heavier regret? 
Regret reveals priorities
  
3. Remove Perfection
Accept that no choice eliminates trade-offs. 
Every meaningful path sacrifices another possibility. 
Life is trade-offs
  
4. Follow Aliveness
Notice which option feels more alive, meaningful, 
or expansive, even if it is harder or riskier. 
Growth usually lives there. 
Energy signals direction
  
5. Commit Fully
Once chosen, stop revisiting the alternative path. 
Invest your energy fully in building the life you selected.
Commitment creates meaning

You live in a world where powerful people dominate.
Your voice is silenced. Even worse, muted.
Probably feeling like a vegetable.

You built the engine, but someone else drove the car.

You've been inside finance, operations, marketing, product. Playing chief of staff, advisor, mom, dad, friend. And somehow, someone else collected the applause.

Your wins live in your head but never make it to paper.

Your ideas get promoted. You don't.
The spotlight finds everyone but you.
You keep whispering "my time will come."

I whispered that for years. It never came on its own.

I watched my ideas move other people's projects. My presence held their chaos together. And I kept giving it away for free until I finally stopped.

Here's what actually worked:

1️⃣ Grab your phone and ramble for 3 minutes.
Don't edit. Your real voice hides in the mess.

2️⃣ Transcribe with AI. Bold what repeats.
Pick one. Write "I used to... now I..." format.

3️⃣ Rewrite your headline so your grandma gets it.
If she's confused, so is everyone else.

4️⃣ Drop a genuine comment on 5 new posts daily.
Just be human. That's the whole trick.

Stop auditioning for rooms you could own.

You don't need their stage. You are the stage.

The higher you climb, the lonelier it gets.

I sat with that misery for years.

1 show post. 1 education post. 1 personal post.

4️⃣ One post = one message
Don't confuse people. Write one takeaway, please.

5️⃣ Share what you're going through
Layoffs, pivots, wins. Let people in. Don't hide it.

6️⃣ Find 20-30 creators in your niche
Bookmark their profiles for easier access.

7️⃣ Leave 1 meaningful comment on posts
Comment early for maximum visibility.

8️⃣ Reply to 2-3 other comments on those posts
You will find new people and with that new chances.

9️⃣ DM and connect only after building rapport
Wait until you've commented 8+ times first.

Stop climbing in silence.
The right people can't find you if you stay hidden.

So, next time you're about to comment, try this:

1️⃣ Did I actually read the whole post?
↳ Or did I skim and let AI fake my reply?

2️⃣ Am I trying to look smart?
↳ Or am I here to actually help someone?

3️⃣ Would I say this to their face?
↳ Or am I only brave behind a screen?

4️⃣ Am I defending my ego?
↳ Or am I open to being completely wrong?

5️⃣ Am I piling on with the crowd?
↳ Or do I have the guts to think alone?

6️⃣ Is this the truth?
↳ Or insecurity dressed up as an opinion?

7️⃣ Will this comment build someone up?
↳ Or leave a scar they'll carry all week?

Every comment is a choice:
To tear down or to build up.

Both take the same amount of time. Choose wisely.

Them: "I can't write when I feel this blocked."

This belief cost me my best content ideas.

This was me one random Tuesday morning:

My coffee went cold, and I couldn't move.
That little cursor just won't stop blinking.
It's waiting for the genius I don't have.

Meanwhile, my brain keeps whispering:

"The world already has so many experts.
And you think YOU have something to say?
Seriously, Martina. Who are you?"

I had nothing to say back. The voice won that round.

I stopped asking "What should I post?"
And started "What am I actually feeling right now?"

Your messy middle is your material.

Here's how I found my way out:

1. Get up and break the spell of staring at the screen.
2. Do what quiets your noise. Cooking, praying.
3. Let your mind wander without forcing it out.
4. Catch the thought that makes you pause.
5. Ask yourself why this thought hit you.
6. Voice memo it before it disappears.
7. Write it messily, edit it later.

Write for ONE person.
Not a billion LinkedIn users.
What moves you will move them.
That's the whole secret of writing.

Your life is the content. Just pay attention.

I live near an airport in Dubai.

The planes I hear aren't commercial.

Commercial traffic has been closed for a few days.
I'm writing this post between bangs.
Some closer than others.

But honestly, the missiles aren't the hardest part.

I could tell you about civil defence alerts.
But that's not what's breaking me.
I've been stuck for months. 

Not with clients. With myself.

My brain kept whispering:

"I know what to do. Why can't I do it for myself?"
"My clients are winning. Why am I stuck?"
"The strategies work. Just not on me."

And then the missile debris banged (again).

And I thought: "What else can pile on top of this?"

The not knowing if the next one's closer.
And refreshing the news, like it'll give you answers.
Or texting people 'you okay?' and holding your breath.

The entire world keeps moving on.

Mine stopped a few months ago.
Now it slowly crawls at 1 km/h.
But giving up isn't an option.

And when everything stops, you see who stays.

Some people stay when everything feels pointless. Sometimes you need people who won't disappear just because your country is in the news and you feel lost.

Networking drains you more than it helps.

I talked to walls in suits.

You smile at people who drain you dry.

I know that room.
Expensive suits. Forced laughs.
Your chest tight, palms sweating.

Wondering if they see through you.

I spent years in those circles.
Ultra high net worth. Old money.
People who've been sold everything.

I noticed who they actually trusted:

→ No pitch deck tucked under their arm.
→ No rehearsed intro, waiting on their tongue.
→ They just sat down and made actual eye contact.

Here's what actually worked for me:

→ I started with comments, not posts.
→ I stopped sending "Let's connect" DMs.
→ I showed up the same way, again and again.

Read that last one again.

Trust isn't built in one conversation.
You didn't charm your partner once and done.
You showed up. Consistently. Until they believed.

Business works the same way.
