I'm the cofounder and CEO of three companies: SparkToro, software that makes audience research accessible to everyone, indie game maker Snackbar Studio, and the vastly superior alternative to Google Alerts: Alertmouse. I'm also the author of Lost and Founder: (2018), prev founded & led Moz (2001-17) and am a frequent keynote speaker on marketing and entrepreneurship topics. But, I'm probably best known as the amateur chef husband of renowned author, Geraldine DeRuiter.

Search happens everywhere. Not just Google, ChatGPT, and Bing. Our latest project with Datos, A Semrush Company analyzed search on 41 major websites via their desktop panel and found that if you broaden the definition of search, Google is 73%, not 90%+. And ChatGPT is 3.2%, well behind several players rarely mentioned in the conversation.

And, if billions of searches are taking place on dozens of sites, not just "traditional" and "AI tools," maybe SEO should be bigger than those two categories as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

An overview of my role and responsibilities on the Shelters United team:

I manage the marketing communications to drive funnel activity from prospective members to members:
o	Determine the format, content, and schedule for ongoing communications
o	Develop and project manage campaign development with our production team
o	Collaborate on clicks lists and lead attribution for sales outreach with Sales Director

In an effort to bridge the gap between marketing and sales effort:
o	Communicate campaign priorities to ISRs weekly
o	Provide ISRs with a toolkit of campaign assets to leverage the campaigns effectively, including call scripting, follow-up templates, campaign graphics, etc.
o	Automate or create campaign support for various funnel stages

Track, analyze, and report results to the management team:
o	Own conversion and engagement metrics throughout the funnel (i.e. # of leads, open rate) utilizing SalesForce campaigns
o	Analyze campaign ROI and discuss learnings
o	Implement optimizations

During my position at Mariah Menendez Marketing, I manage the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies for email marketing, marketing automation, and content marketing to achieve goals within the forecasted budget. I provide guidance and support to clients, contractors, and internal teams in the execution of new strategies. I facilitate the identification of the latest market trends and optimization opportunities by auditing performance. I contribute to identifying opportunities for growth and delivering advisory support to clients. I manage all aspects of email delivery, including the development of creative briefs, campaign list creation, review/approval of creative designs, and schedule email deployment.

A few key achievements include:

☛ Increased daily sales orders 133% (client, 2018 vs 2019) implementing email optimization strategies.

☛ Managed the implementation of new marketing automation software (Marketo), which helped in the automation and evaluation of marketing activity.

☛ Developed a complex customer journey roadmap in collaboration with the director, as well as automated and implemented each campaign workflows based on behavior.
