When I graduated from college, I felt lost. 

After six years of studying what I thought I'd do forever, my first job paid me $25,000 a year. This didn't pay the bills and made me feel like a loser.

I wanted more from life, so I spent time figuring things out. 

Figuring things out took work. There were lots of ups and downs and tons of frustrations because I felt like I wasted time in school - I had two degrees and no idea what to do with them! 

Ultimately, I had to figure out who I was, where I was, and where I wanted to go.

Last night I spoke about how special the community is - and how much it cares.

It’s important to remember this when times get tough, because in research, the do indeed get tough.

I hope everyone enjoyed their evening and their time with their colleagues, celebrating one another and supporting the industry as a whole.

The most underrated strategy for getting ahead!

(And it isn’t what you think.)



I admit, I was the one thinking about fancy strategies.

I did this in my corporate job and in owning my own biz.

I needed a website, the AI tools, etc etc etc 

But the most underrated tactic?

Meeting people and authentically engaging with them.

And I wish I’d done this way sooner than now. 

Thanks Emmanuele (Manny) Sembroni for this great reminder in yesterdays post.

If you’re building anything (including your career), meet lots of people.

Engage with them authentically.

Then build that relationship.

It’s actually so simple, and most people don’t do it - instead they sit behind their computer hoping for something interesting to happen.

Remember even with AI, humans are still the ones making decisions on:
-hiring
-buying
-scaling 
-promoting 

So, don’t forget the simple tactic that’s not sexy, but very impactful!

Sloooowwww Sundays are the best. 


I remember though, when I didn’t feel this way.

I remember when Sundays meant Monday was looming.

With Monday came a tidal wave of stress, Teams meetings, emails, and problems. 

Now? 

Mondays are blocked for creativity, connection, and intention setting.

I know some might say, “must be nice!”

Or, “what a privilege!”

And that’s fine, they can say that.

Because it’s not come without a very intentional choice and some sacrifices.

I sold a 4 bedroom home I had just bought and renovated.

I downsized like crazy. 

I decided there was more important things in my life, like my sanity and peace.

Essentially, I chose different.

Most people are stuck in the Sunday stressies because they’re not willing to rearrange their life.

And I respect that.

But if you’re someone who’s wanting a change, you know this just can not be it, I want you to see what’s possible. I want you to know you can have change and still lead a successful and meaningful life. 

You just have to choose.

What is the one thing that makes people unhappy?


Some would say:
-work
-their weight or overall health 
-past traumas 
-no friends
-family issues
-unhappy or difficult children 
-lack of money
-and much much more

But the single thing that makes people unhappy is when they don’t honor themselves.

And I'm not trying to discredit past traumas and things - like really bad things - that happen to people.

BUT, all those things above?

There’s an element within each one that equals not honoring themselves.

When I coach people - there’s always an element of disregard for themselves.

So, that leads to unhappiness. Not hitting goals. Getting triggered and that keeps them from the life they want. Having past events resurface over and over, keeping them stuck in a loop that's frustrating for them.

So what can you do today about this?

Start small.

Notice places where you’re:
-saying yes when you want to say no 

-disregarding your emotions because everyone else's is more important than yours

-pushing down frustrations and triggers

-continuing to do things that are bad for you - overworking for example or over stressing at work 

-hearing your soul speak but taking zero action and letting your mind keep you in the same place doing the same thing and getting the same results 

All it takes is one single step day in and day out - and you’ll begin hearing yourself more and more therefore becoming more and more aware of you are and what you want -- aka, feeling happy and fulfilled.

Where's one place you're not honoring yourself? For me, it's more of a physical non-honoring. Every morning I wake up thinking, I should do Yoga, and instead I sit in a chair and sip my tea :( === I'll get there. That wasn't fun admitting in public LOL.

Goals do not equal your purpose.



And it can be easy to mistake goals for purpose. 

Because the mind (ego) loves targets.

It thrives on becoming the target - leading to an identity wrapped around whatever the goal is.

The issue?

People then end up confusing purpose with goals.

Then, when the goals are reached?

People find themselves depressed and feeling like life is meaningless which leads to feeling lost and stuck - aka, without purpose.

This also leads to never enoughness.

So the real ambitious ones will continue to push and push and push never feeling that happiness or peace around what they do day in and day out.

The real meaning of purpose is this:

Purpose = fulfilling your soul’s desires 

And if you commit to this, you’ll never feel lost because your soul is infinite and does not lose steam on desires.

But if you confuse your purpose with goals, you’ll inevitably never be satisfied, and when you reach your goals you’ll not ever feel the satisfaction.

In contrast, with living your day to day fulfilling whatever your soul desires, this leads to true peace and happiness despite external circumstances, outcomes, and outside opinions.
