"It's just a HomeLab" is a phrase I don't understand.

If I'm going to host Object Storage (Ceph) at home, I want it to behave exactly like AWS S3. That means no shortcuts on architecture.

I just finished implementing a full S3-compatible object store using Rook-Ceph, but I hit a classic wall: the "API vs. Website" ambiguity. My bucket's root URL was returning 403 AccessDenied because Ceph couldn't decide whether I wanted to list files (private) or serve a website (public).

The Solution: The "Split-Domain" SRE pattern. 🌐s3.nodes.ee for API calls. 📄static.nodes.ee for Website hosting.

Now my traffic is routed perfectly via Gateway API and Cilium, secured with TLS, and fully defined in Git.

Who says you can't have production-grade architecture in your living room? 🏠☁️
