SMALL BUSINESS, BIG IMPACT!

Indian MSMEs are the backbone of our nation. 

Small manufacturers, retailers, and service businesses contribute to ~30% of India’s GDP and 45% of industrial output.
(Sourced from a recent IIT-D report on “Study Of Technology Enabled Intra-City Logistics Services For MSMES”)

Yet, one massive hurdle holds the MSMEs of India back.  
An invisible tax that limits MSME access to transport apps.  

According to GST 2.0 Digital GTAs (Goods Transport Agencies) are now levied to pay 18% tax on all goods movement, which is a huge setback for small businesses. 

- Logistics in India has primarily been extremely unorganised and fragmented. 
- Waiting 40-60 minutes for vehicles.
- Chasing drivers on endless calls.
- Unnecessary haggling with drivers for the right price
- Unpredictable transport timelines disrupt supply chains.

The report by IIT Delhi  highlights a clear shift in recent times. When MSMEs adopts tech-enabled, app-based intra-city logistics services, they win with big and clear margins. 

• 73% reduce transportation costs
• 95% achieve improved on-time transportation performance
• 61% saved critical operational hours otherwise spent coordinating with commercial vehicles

This win is not about MSMEs convenience. But it is about our economies becoming agile, smart and digital first. A perfect case study of how the small businesses ecosystem are the true drives of Bharat. 

While I am aware of many brands using Porter, there are also other companies like UncleDelivery & others that are simplifying last-mile goods logistics movement for MSMEs. 

Food for thought for the policy makers and the rationale is simple. 

Fix logistics, and enable MSMEs of India to be digital first and grow with efficiency and seamlessness.

Pave way for sustainable MSME-Logistics ecosystem, #Budget2026.
