I have 23+ years of experience as a strategic management consultant/business adviser, and senior lawyer specialising in construction law, contracting, major projects, risk, compliance, and procurement for business and government

I have acted as General Counsel, Procurement Adviser, Commercial Officer, Contract Administrator, Senior Legal Counsel and Strategic Adviser in different organisations - these roles have given me a depth of experience that is rare for most lawyers.

The practice I am honoured to be a part of is listed amongst the second highest tier of veterinary clinics in Queensland, with a team of 6 veterinarians, 7 veterinary nurses and 2 dedicated receptionists.  Working as a Nursing Manager / Leader is an exciting and challenging role, that allows me to improve my communication skills, research and writing skills, time-management, prioritisation, efficiency, problem-solving skills, and leadership skills.

In this role, I am leading and coaching both veterinary and nursing staff, as well as students in vast areas of patient and client care.  I share in managing the daily schedule of day to day procedures, ensuring that deadlines are met whilst providing a high standard of care. Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Working in this hospital is equivalent to working at an animal emergency and trauma clinic.  Working with and rehabilitating native wildlife is an area I am strongly passionate about. 

In this role I was responsible for prioritising the care and treatment of native wildlife, monitoring up to 100 hospitalised patients as a solo nurse, assisting with life-saving and challenging surgery, liaising with members of the public, media and special guests, assisting with ground-breaking research, and preparing and conducting workshops and training with staff, volunteers and carer groups.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Currumbin Wildlife Hospital is a Not-For-Profit Organisation, and one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world.  Working here allowed me to really start being involved with treating and rehabilitating native wildlife.

My role here consisted of the triage of multiple patients, assisting with their treatment, surgery, rehabilitation and release.  I was also responsible for ensuring medical compliance of keeping and volunteer staff, adding and maintaining important medical and husbandry records, training and supervising volunteers and students, public speaking and delivering presentations to the public, and also assisting with reception and administration.

ANIMAL EMERGENCY CENTRE PTY LTD

The Animal Emergency Centre on the Gold Coast is part of a group of national, premier animal emergency clinics, providing after hour care for pets at a high standard.  Working in animal emergency has taught me the skills of time management, prioritisation, efficiency, working in a team and autonomously, and dealing with stressful, emotional and high-pressured situations.

My role here consisted of triage, treatment and care of multiple critical patients.  Dealing with crisis, trauma and high emotions was a regular occurrence that builds character and resilience.  I was also involved with reception and administration tasks.

I've dedicated numerous years to the veterinary industry, wearing different hats as a nurse, team leader, educator, and mentor. I am now a proud lawyer with a burning passion for advocating for individuals and businesses navigating important life decisions.

What Sets Me Apart:

- Grit and determination - I ventured into law as a mature aged individual; without completing high school. Proving it's never too late to start afresh. I earned my law degree whilst working and volunteering, completing my LLB with distinction and several university awards.

- Demonstrating business success - I orchestrated the turnaround of a struggling business within six months. The key? Active listening to both the team and clients, coupled with policy, hard work, and passion.

- Uniquely skilled - I may be the only lawyer who can safely handle wild koalas. You never know when such expertise might come in handy! 😉🐨
