Just uploaded another episode in the Linux lab series: Editing Files in Linux.

In Linux environments, most configuration changes happen directly inside text files.

Whether it’s adjusting system settings, updating configurations, or troubleshooting an issue, you need to be comfortable opening, editing, and saving files from the command line.

Two editors you’ll commonly encounter are nano (more beginner-friendly) and vi (more powerful and widely used on servers).

In my latest Linux lab, 

I walk through editing files on an EC2 instance using both tools and explain what you should understand as a beginner building cloud or cybersecurity skills.
