It’s important to understand how much you’ll actually take home after deductions and how non-cash components influence your overall compensation. 

Let’s break this down with an example and detailed calculations.

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

Assume a CTC of ₹15,00,000/year:
Basic Salary (40% of CTC): ₹6,00,000
HRA (20% of CTC): ₹3,00,000
Special Allowances: ₹5,00,000
PF Contribution (Employer’s Share): ₹72,000
Gratuity: ₹28,860

𝐃𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲:

PF Contribution (12% of Basic): ₹72,000
Income Tax (as per new regime of FY24): Approx. ₹1,16,200 (considering standard deduction and slab rates).
Professional Tax: ₹2,400 (varies by state).

𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞-𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

CTC = ₹15,00,000
Deductions (PF, Tax, etc.) = ₹1,90,600
In-Hand Salary (Net Pay) = ₹13,09,400/year = ~₹1,09,117/month

𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

Non-cash components like health insurance, ESOPs, wellness programs, travel reimbursements, and meal cards add value but don’t reflect in your take-home pay.

Example: A ₹2,00,000 health insurance benefit might save you expenses on medical emergencies but doesn’t affect your monthly income.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

[1] Focus on In-Hand Salary:
A higher in-hand salary gives you more financial freedom for monthly expenses, savings, and investments.

[2] Evaluate Non-Cash Benefits:
These can significantly reduce out-of-pocket expenses and should be factored into your decision.

[3] Consider Long-Term Components:
Gratuity and PF contributions are valuable for future security but won’t impact your immediate cash flow.

[4] Understand Tax Efficiency:
Check if the salary structure includes tax-saving allowances like HRA or LTA to optimize your take-home pay.

When a friend gets annoying,
a stranger says something negative,
or there is a small fight,
GenZ often just hits: Block.

But is this habit helping or hurting their personal and professional relationships?

✅ The Positive Side: Protecting Peace

1. Mental health 

Blocking toxic, disrespectful or negative people is a way to protect emotional well-being.

2. Clear boundaries

Unlike older generations who often tolerated unhealthy relationships, Gen Z values personal boundaries and is unafraid to cut off unnecessary drama.

3. Time and energy management

Social media overload can drain you. Blocking unwanted content or people saves time and mental space.


✅ The Other Side: Avoiding Emotional Growth

1. Escaping uncomfortable conversations

Not every disagreement is toxic. Sometimes, it’s an opportunity to learn better communication skills. 
By blocking, you skip the hard but necessary conversations.

2. Fragile conflict management

Many times, especially at work, you can’t just block a colleague, client or boss you don’t like. 
Learning to handle different personalities is a crucial life skill.

3. Short-term relief, long-term isolation

Overusing this feature may create an echo chamber where you only engage with like-minded people, making you less adaptable in a diverse social or professional environment.


So yes, when used correctly, Block button is a healthy digital boundary.
It's not wrong - but it should be the last step, not the first reaction.

If someone is genuinely harmful, yes, block. 

But if it’s just a difference of opinion, try understanding or communicating before cutting off.

In professional life, emotional maturity > impulsive reactions. 
Learning to coexist with difficult people can actually help your career growth.

Nobody tells you this about placements — especially when you’re in final year.

Placements aren’t stressful because of interviews.
They’re stressful because of what they do to your head.

Here’s the part most people only understand after living it:
👉 You stop chasing “dream roles” and start chasing peace.
 Not because you gave up…
 But because waking up anxious every morning is exhausting.

👉 Your screen time goes up, not for fun — but to escape.
 You keep refreshing emails, WhatsApp groups, placement portals.
 Every notification feels personal. Most aren’t.

👉 Rejections don’t come loudly.
 Sometimes they don’t come at all.
 Just… no update. No mail. No feedback.
 That silence slowly makes you question yourself.

👉 You begin overthinking your entire personality.
 “Maybe I don’t sound confident.”
 “Maybe I’m not smart enough.”
 “Maybe I should’ve started earlier.”
 Placements have a way of rewriting your self-talk.

👉 Everyone suddenly has advice.
“Upskill more.”
“Be patient.”
“Trust the process.”
But none of them are sitting with you at 2 AM when your mind won’t shut up.

👉 The day your friend gets placed, you’re genuinely happy for them.
And then reality hits on the way back to your room.
That hollow feeling doesn’t mean you’re bitter.
It means you’re still waiting.
If this sounds familiar, pause here for a second.

✅ You’re not slow.
✅ You’re not unlucky.
✅ You’re not wasting your degree.

Placements are not a measure of intelligence.
They’re a test of endurance.

So keep applying.
Keep preparing.
Keep believing — even when confidence feels borrowed.

Your story isn’t over.
This chapter is just uncomfortable.
And yes — your turn is coming.

90% of jobs can be taught.
But attitude can’t.

Freshers worry too much about:
✅ Degree
✅ Resume
✅ Experience

What actually gets you hired:
Learning mindset. Ownership. 
Communication. Problem-solving.

Don’t self-reject.
Your capacity to learn > your current skills.

Freshers don’t lose jobs because they lack skills.

They lose because they think they need perfection to start.

Stop hiring only for experience.
Start hiring for learning speed.

Calls feel like a pressure to them.

And for many Millennials or GenY, this feels strange. 
Why can’t they just pick up the phone?

Why they choose texting?

1. They grew up in a digital - first world

Unlike Millennials who saw the transition to smartphones, GenZ started life with instant messaging apps. 
Texting feels as natural to them as talking.

2. Time to think before replying

Texting gives space to pause, draft and edit. 
A call feels immediate and demanding, while a text allows more control over the conversation.

3. Less social pressure

Phone calls can feel overwhelming because of tone, pauses or awkward silences. 
Texting reduces that anxiety.

4. Multitasking comfort

GenZ loves doing multiple things at once.
Texting allows them to respond while working, listening to music or even relaxing, unlike calls that require full focus.


For Millennials and GenY, calls feel:
• More personal
• More efficient
• More respectful

So, when GenZ avoids calls, older generations sometimes misread it as disinterest or immaturity.

It’s not about being lazy or antisocial.
It’s about comfort zones shaped by technology.

GenY → learned communication through face-to-face + calls.
GenZ → learned communication through screens + texting.

In such a case,
-> GenZ should understand that in professional relationships, sometimes a quick call builds trust faster than a text.

-> And GenY/Millennials should realize texting isn’t cold, it’s just a different style of communication.
