8 gemiste oproepen van 3 verschillende nummers.
Een WhatsApp: “ik heb u gisteren al gemaild.”
Een mail in mijn inbox: “ik had u zaterdag al gemaild.”
Het is maandag. 💀

Soms voelt het alsof de wereld denkt dat ik een soort menselijke chatbot ben met een 24/7 SLA en instant responses, zelfs wanneer ik op dat moment vier uur lang een masterclass geef en letterlijk niet kan antwoorden.

Alsof bereikbaar zijn en beschikbaar zijn dezelfde betekenis hebben. 
Spoiler: dat zijn ze niet.

De voorbije weken merkte ik opnieuw hoe hard alles duwt.
Alles moet snel, gehaast, liefst nog voor ik begrijp waarover het gaat.
En het klinkt dramatisch, maar zo voelt het soms: je ademt in de ochtend, en tegen dat je uitademt, heb je al vijf berichten, drie oproepen en iemand die zich afvraagt waarom je nog niet gereageerd hebt.

En ondertussen ben ik gewoon… een mens.
Een mens die vaak 3 uur in meeting zit.
Een mens die 4 uur bij een klant werkt zonder ook maar één keer op haar gsm te kijken.

Een mens die thuiskomt en méér wil zijn dan haar inbox.
Wanneer ik ’s avonds door mijn voordeur wandel, wil ik koken, bakken, met lego spelen, rommelen in de keuken, even verdwijnen in zachte dingen die geen deadlines hebben.

Ik wil níét om 20u30 een WhatsApp beantwoorden over een ad-set die even kan wachten tot de volgende ochtend.
Niet omdat ik niet wil helpen, maar omdat ik niet kan blijven geven in een tempo dat menselijk niet vol te houden is.

Ik heb geen team dat in de coulissen alles opvangt.
Geen leger van account managers die mijn gsm van me overnemen.

Dus wanneer ik ’s morgens om 7u antwoord, dan is dat geen AI-bot, maar ik — half aangekleed, tussen de muesli, de yoghurt en mijn kop koffie — die probeert de dag te structureren nog voor ze begonnen is.

Ik ben aan het werken terwijl ik nog niet eens helemaal wakker ben.

In tijden zoals deze, wanneer mijn congé in Mexico dichterbij komt maar tegelijk nog eindeloos ver voelt, merk ik dat de druk sneller binnenkomt.
 
Mijn buffer wordt dunner.
Mijn geduld voor het altijd-aan-staan zakt.
Mijn hoofd zegt: “Het is te veel.”

Ik denk dat veel ondernemers dit herkennen:
wij bouwen bedrijven vanuit passie, vanuit vakmanschap, vanuit liefde voor onze klanten, maar we worden soms opgeslorpt door een verwachtingscultuur die niet meer klopt.

Een cultuur waarin snelheid gelijkstaat aan kwaliteit, waarin aanwezigheid gelijkstaat aan waarde, waarin je bereikbaarheid soms belangrijker lijkt dan je expertise.

En dat wringt.
Het wringt bij mij.
Het wringt bij velen.

Dus laat dit een zachte reminder zijn. Aan mezelf, aan anderen, aan iedereen die voelt dat het tempo soms hoger ligt dan hun hartslag aankan:

Rust is geen luxe.
Beschikbaarheid is geen verplichting.
En een ondernemer die ’s avonds wil koken en met haar kat spelen, is geen slechte professional.

Ik merkte dat ik begon te tellen, zonder dat ik daar echt een bedoeling bij had. ☝ ✌ 🤟 

Enter de keynote van Peter Hinssen bij Wintercircus Ghent.

Sterk, zoals altijd. Veel technologie, veel toekomst, veel tempo. 
Het soort verhaal waarbij je voelt hoe snel alles beweegt en hoe groot de beloftes zijn.
En toch was er dat andere gevoel dat bleef terugkomen.

In al die beelden, voorbeelden en verhalen doken vooral mannen op. 

Na slide 300 dacht ik bij mezelf: dit voelt soms als een Biggest 🍆 Contest voor technologieverhalen: wie heeft de grootse claims, de grootste toekomst, de meeste zekerheid.
(of onzekerheid lolzies. Sammeke, uwen cashflow is eng 💀 )

Het was zo’n moment waarop je iets ziet en het daarna niet meer kan ont-zien.

Het deed me verder denken.
Wie er rond Trump zit, bijvoorbeeld. CEO’s, techleiders, mensen die invloed hebben. Ook daar zie je opvallend weinig vrouwen.

Waar zitten die eigenlijk?
Willen we daar niet zitten?
Krijgen we de kans niet?

Of is dit gewoon iets historisch dat nog altijd aan het doorsijpelen is en dat we collectief onderschatten?

Ik heb daar geen helder antwoord op en eerlijk gezegd wantrouw ik elk antwoord dat te snel klaar is. Dit voelt complexer dan één oorzaak of één schuldige.

Want, to be frank, ogen sommige van die tafels ook gewoon vermoeiend. Veel ego, veel zekerheid, veel grote woorden. 
Altijd weten hoe het zit, altijd vooruit, weinig ruimte voor twijfel of voor zinnen die nog niet helemaal af zijn.

En ja, dat zeg ik terwijl ik zelf vaak de luidste in de ruimte ben. Ik neem plek in, ik hou van ambitie, ik ben niet bang om scherp te zijn. 
Dat maakt het misschien net extra voelbaar wanneer het spel eenzijdig wordt.

Tegelijk zie ik vrouwen die bedrijven leiden, teams dragen en moeilijke knopen doorhakken, vaak op een manier die minder zichtbaar is maar daarom niet minder beslissend. 

Minder gericht op het podium, meer op wat er gebeurt nadat het applaus wegvalt en de gevolgen beginnen.

Misschien zitten we niet aan die tafel. 
Misschien worden we niet altijd gevraagd.
Misschien is het ook gewoon niet de enige plek waar echte beslissingen genomen worden.

Dit is geen klaagzang en ook geen pleidooi.

Het is vooral een vraag die bleef hangen en waar ik zelf nog geen sluitend antwoord op heb.

En als iemand hier goede stukken of degelijk onderzoek over kent, geen slogans en geen snelle takes, dan lees ik die met plezier.

Een masterclass bij mij voelt tegelijk als een wervelwind en een verademing.

Misschien komt het door mijn kerstboom die nu al staat en waarvan de lichtjes elke avond branden. 🎄
Misschien door mijn aangeboren drang om warmte en gezelligheid te creëren, zelfs als het om werk gaat. 
Of misschien gewoon omdat ik niet anders kan dan mensen ontvangen zoals ik zelf graag ontvangen word.

Ik voel me nergens zo in mijn element als wanneer ik voor iemand kan zorgen. 😊 
Niet op een overdreven manier, maar in die kleine, vanzelfsprekende dingen: 
- een drankje klaarzetten
- iets lekkers op tafel leggen
- zorgen dat iedereen zich comfortabel voelt. 

Daarom gaan mijn masterclasses door bij LikeBirds Coworking Gent, een plek waar de sfeer al voor de helft het werk doet. 

En eens we beginnen, gaat het vooruit. 
Ik neem je mee door inzichten, voorbeelden, structuren en technieken zonder tijd te verspillen. 
Het mag snel gaan, het mag stevig zijn, het mag een wervelwind zijn — zolang het helder blijft en je er energie van krijgt, niet minder.

Tegelijk is er altijd ruimte voor zachtheid. ☁️
Voor een vers tiramisutaartje (zelfgemaakt of van een goeie bakker). 
Voor een gembershotje van Justin Couturon van GYMLOFT.
Omdat ik het heerlijk vind om eten en kleine ritueeltjes te verweven in momenten waarop mensen iets nieuws leren.

Ik wil dat mensen uitkijken naar mijn masterclasses zoals je uitkijkt naar een gezellige avond bij iemand die altijd nét iets meer moeite doet. 

Waar het warm is, waar het goed ruikt, waar je veel bijleert zonder dat het aanvoelt als moeten.

Zo wil ik werken: inhoudelijk scherp, maar altijd ingebed in warmte.
 
Een wervelwind wanneer het nodig is, een verademing wanneer het mag.

En altijd met eten, gezelligheid en zorg. Omdat dat mijn manier van professionaliteit is.
