So it takes generic copy and makes it:

- More bland

The fix is simple.

Don’t start from the brochure.

Start from raw material:

-> A counterintuitive lesson
-> A moment from a call
-> A belief you’re willing to defend

Then turn that into one idea.

A few month ago, my wife told me she wanted to learn horse riding. 🐴

My first thought honestly? 
That sounds like a lot of effort for something she may not even continue.
I did not say that out loud. But I thought it. Loudly.
I stayed neutral. Cautious. 

The kind of silent skeptic who smiles and nods but has already formed an opinion without giving something a fair chance.

Then she crossed her Level 1 training. And she invited me to the barn to watch her ride. 🌟

I went. Mostly as a supportive husband doing what supportive husbands do.
What I did not expect was what happened inside me that day.
I sat in the stands and watched my wife ride a giant, magnificent animal with a confidence and grace that I had never seen before. 
And somewhere between the first trot and the last turn, I lost it. Completely. 

The emotions just took over. I was elated, I was proud, and I was a little bit in awe of the woman I married all over again. ❤️

That one afternoon changed something in me permanently.

I have never been a sports person. I still am not. #PerspectiveShift 
But I have walked away from that barn with three lessons that I now carry into my everyday life and work.

Never judge a book by its cover. 
It is the oldest lesson in the book and yet somehow we forget it every single day. What looks ordinary or unnecessary from the outside can be deeply transformative for the person living it.

Always give things time before forming an opinion. 
My skepticism was not based on knowledge or experience. It was based on nothing more than assumption. And assumption is a terrible place to make decisions from. #JudgeNothing 

There is truly no end to learning and exploring new things. My wife did not wait for the perfect moment or the right age or someone's approval. She just began. And that beginning became her joy. 🙌 #NeverStopLearning

To my extended LinkedIn family, I wanted to share this because sometimes the most profound lessons do not come from boardrooms or books. 
They come from the people closest to us, doing brave and beautiful things, while we sit quietly in the stands trying not to cry. 😊

The upstream guys take the physical risk. 
The downstream guys fight for the customer margin. 
If the chain breaks anywhere in the middle, the global economy stops.

What strikes me academically is the paradox at the heart of Iran's position.

Iran has repeatedly threatened to close the Strait. 
Yet nearly 95% of its own oil exports travel through the very same waterway.

If the Strait were truly disrupted, the consequences would be immediate and far-reaching. 

- Oil prices, currently around $63 per barrel, could climb well past $100. Countries across Asia, which receive 84% of the oil that flows through Hormuz , would face severe shortages. 
- Alternative pipelines exist, but they can only carry a fraction of what the Strait handles daily.

This crisis raises questions that I believe deserve more academic attention:

1) When does economic interdependence actually prevent conflict, and when does it stop mattering?
2) Are our global energy systems genuinely resilient, or just untested?
3) Does this moment accelerate the case for energy transition and diversification?

The Strait of Hormuz is more than a geopolitical flashpoint. It is a mirror held up to the assumptions we have built the global economy on.

But averages hide the truth.

High variation. Unpredictable results.
1) You rely on "Quality Control" at the end of the line to catch the bad products before they ship.
2) This is expensive. You are paying to build garbage, and then paying someone else to find it.

Low variation. Extremely predictable.
1) You tighten the process so much that the "bell curve" easily fits inside the customer's acceptable limits.

🔥 63 Micro-distributors. One Spark. A Market Transformed. 
(This is a real life Marketing Strategy Case, which happened in early 2021).

Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs don't come from boardrooms, they come from dusty village roads and honest conversations.

I still remember standing at a crossroads.

On one side, urban customers, clicking and calling, expecting their delivery within 24 hours.

On the other hand, rural families, waiting days for a cylinder, living miles away from the nearest supply point, with little access to booking systems.

Same product. Same company. Two completely different worlds.

And I was responsible for holding a 60% market share, while competition had deeper roots in the rural belt.

The pressure was real.
The gap was real.
But so was the opportunity. 👀

We didn't have extra vehicles.
We didn't have a tech platform.

What we had was a simple, human idea.

What if the village itself became the supply point?

Women entrepreneurs. 
Self-help groups. 
Village service centres.

Authorized to store a small inventory.
Open every day.
Trusted by the community.

We called them Micro-distributors.

But an idea on paper is just that paper.

The distributors were skeptical.

"Who will account for the cylinders?"
"What if the inventory goes missing?"
"This has never been done before."

I understood their hesitation.
So instead of pushing, I partnered.

I found one distributor willing to take the leap with me. And together, we got to work. 🤝

We mapped the white patches — areas with zero coverage.
We found villages with high population, low delivery frequency.
We knocked on doors of CSC centres and Panchayat offices.

And most importantly: We personally visited every single potential Micro-distributor site.

No proxy. 
No shortcuts.
Just boots on the ground and trust built face to face.

Months of effort.
Countless conversations.
One village at a time.

Result? 63+ Micro-distributors commissioned across the district. ✅

And then something beautiful happened.

Other channel partners, the same ones who once doubted the idea, started asking: "How do we set up our own Micro-distributors?" 😊

The real lesson from this story?

Last-mile innovation isn't always about technology or capital.

Sometimes it's about:

- 🌱 Trusting a community to solve its own problem
- 🤝 Finding one believer when the room is full of skeptics
- 👣 Showing up personally when it matters most

A 7-Eleven store has almost zero storage space. 
So how do they never run out of stock?

If you look at a traditional retail store, 30% of the square footage is a dark backroom filled with boxes. 
That is dead space. 
It doesn't generate revenue.

7-Eleven realized that the store should be for selling, not for storing.

📦 The Old Way: The "Bulk" Model

Suppliers deliver directly to the store in large quantities.
The store holds weeks of inventory in a backroom.
Result: Wasted real estate, stale products, and cash tied up in boxes.

🌊 The 7-Eleven Way: The "Flow" Model (Cross-Docking)

- The Trick: Suppliers never deliver to the store. They deliver to a Combined Distribution Center (CDC).

- The Temperature Matrix: At the CDC, products are not sorted by brand. They are sorted by temperature (Frozen, Chilled, Ambient, Warm).

- The Fleet: A single "Chilled" truck takes the sandwiches, milk, and juices from 20 different suppliers and delivers them to the store at the exact same time.

- The Frequency: They deliver 3 to 4 times a day using small trucks.

- The Strategy: By moving the sorting process away from the store and into the CDC, 7-Eleven freed up their retail real estate. Every inch of a 7-Eleven is generating money.

They replaced physical inventory with high-frequency information and logistics.

👉 The Challenge: Are you using your most expensive assets (real estate, top talent, premium software) to "store" things, or are you designing them to "flow"?
