I'm an immigration lawyer who didn't have top grades, BigLaw credentials, or a sponsor waiting for me. As a foreigner myself, starting my own firm wasn't a "nice idea." It was my only path forward.

It's letting go of the work that got you here.

You can't build a business and do all the jobs inside it forever.

I manage 21 people.
Most days I still feel like I'm faking it.

Everyone assumes leaders have it figured out.
We don't.

We just got comfortable making decisions without certainty.

Confidence isn't knowing you're right.
It's being okay with being wrong.

I'm calling out a friend publicly on Friday. She is the go-to expert on referral relationships, but she made a mistake. 

She literally teaches people how to do this for a living.

She sent our office a pinatagram last week.

No card.
No sender info.
No way to know who it came from.

My team had no idea.
I had to ask around just to say thank you.

Even the experts forget the basics.

So here's your reminder:

When you send a gift to strengthen a relationship:
→ Sign it
→ Or message them to confirm delivery

An unsigned gift is a missed opportunity.

The gift doesn't build the relationship.

The connection does.
