Tomorrow, the timelines will be full of women's empowerment, women builders, and supporting women entrepreneurs.

Panels will happen. Brands will post. People will clap.

But here’s a number that should make us pause.

A recent report highlighted that startups led by women receive just ₹4 out of every ₹100 raised by founders.
Four.
And yet, tomorrow we’ll celebrate progress as if the battle is already won.
The truth?

For most women building companies, the gap between the narrative and reality is vast.
Because women founders don’t just build companies.

They build through layers of expectations that many people never see.

Some of those realities:
1. Women founders are still quietly expected to settle down by a certain age, often being asked about marriage timelines in rooms where men are asked about revenue timelines.
2. When women express ambition, it’s often labelled as too aggressive, while the same trait in men is praised as leadership.
3. Many women are expected to design their businesses around future family expectations rather than their ambitions.
4.Women founders are frequently pushed into passion projects rather than being viewed as builders of large, scalable companies.
5. Women often pay a credibility tax, repeatedly proving their expertise to investors, hires, and even within industries they deeply understand.

And yet.

Over the last two years, I have had the privilege of meeting some incredible women founders.

Women who are disrupting industries where women were previously rarely seen. Rewriting business norms simply because the old ones didn’t make sense. 

Building companies with relentless clarity, heart, and resilience. Creating new markets instead of waiting for permission to enter existing ones.

They are not asking for a seat at the table. They are building new tables.

And that’s the story I am far more interested in telling.
