Peter is Co-Founder and CTO at Unstoppable Finance GmbH a Berlin based company with the mission to empower people around the world to access, interact with and unlock financial opportunities of the decentralized economy. Before he was CTO and MD at Börse Stuttgart Digital Exchange, the first regulated digital asset exchange in Germany. Before he was CTO and co-founder at solarisBank. 

Peter has a technology and entrepreneurial background. In 2008 he founded a software engineering consultancy out of university, grew it profitably to 27 employees. In 2014 he came to Berlin to join the company builder Hitfoxgroup and Finleap that focuses on fintech as CTO. Blockchain and decentralization fascinates him from the moment he got in touch at the end of 2016. Since then he has shaped the vision to bring decentralized finance to reality.

I have a MSc in Information Systems from the University of Münster and I'm a former lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Münster and Data Science Summer School at University Saarland, and I'm a current lecturer at CAS Lucerne for Blockchain topics.

I'm a frequent speaker at events and conferences. Wow. Wir wurden gestern mit AllUnity auf der Bitkom #digifin Veranstaltung zum "Fintech des Jahres - Newcomer" ausgezeichnet. Das hat für mich eine besondere Bedeutung ... 

Erst mal durfte ich zum zweiten Mal auf die Bühne, wie schon vor Jahren mit der Solaris SE. 

Außerdem sehe ich hier eine wesentliche Entwicklung: jahrelang wurden Fintech und Krypto als zwei verschiedene Branchen behandelt, dabei sind beide dafür angetreten die Finanzinfrastruktur grundlegend zu verändern.

Wie wir inzwischen gelernt haben, wurde der Fintech Bereich in den letzten Jahren ziemlich ausgewaschen. Nur wenige wesentliche Disruptionen haben sich durchgesetzt. Nur wenige Player wie zB SumUp haben es geschafft an der Infrastruktur etwas zu verändern. Ansonsten ist diese weitestgehend gleich geblieben. Der Rest ist in Kooperationen mit Banken oder anderen Institutionen aufgegangen. 

Ich sage schon lange, dass wir mit #Blockchains, Decentralized Finance (#DeFi) und #Stablecoins nun eine neue Infrastruktur sehen, mit der man #Fintech, #Banking und #Payments komplett neu denken kann. Globaler, schneller, transparenter und günstiger. 

Auf der Veranstaltung gestern sprach ich von "neuen Schläuchen". Ich bin überzeugt davon, dass wir eine neue Welle von Fintechs sehen werden, basierend auf Stablecoins, Blockchain und DeFi. Als "Fintech des Jahres" dürfem wir als Krypto Unternehmen uns nun auch zu den Fintechs zählen. Es kommt nun zusammen was in meinen Augen immer zusammen gehörte. Wir werden in einer paar Jahren sehen, ob wir neuen Fintechs nicht vielleicht sogar das erreichen werden, was die Generation vorher immer erreichen wollten: eine echte Disruption der Infrastruktur.

For Gymondo I was mainly responsible to optimize several React codebases to be up to date again. They had several different projects with mostly Create React App, Storybook and Gatsby as their base technology which needed to be optimized in terms of build speed, maintainability and developer productivity.

In my role as Technical Frontend Lead for BSDEX, a spinoff of Börse Stuttgart, my first task was coordinating the handover of their web trading platform as it was passed from an external service provider to an internal team. Following the handover I continued as an active member of the team, developing new features and continuously improving and enhancing the adopted codebase.

In October 2019 I joined the platform team of the Osram Lightelligence Innovation Hub and helped them to improve their open-source project processes throughout the company. I discussed and established ESLint rules across different teams, helped to automate and improve their package release processes with Semantic Release, and continuously worked on improving their documentation, which is a crucial part of successful open source projects.

GLS eCom Lab GmbH

For the GLS eCom Lab I created the technical base for a business idea they had piloted earlier and implemented a fully functional MVP afterwards. After building a shared Design System that is now used in several applications at GLS I've built the React application from the ground up with a successful beta launch end of September.

For Rocket Internet I kickstarted a new React application that was built to scale and with internationalization in mind. I created an in-house Design System together with a UI Designer and laid the technical base for the customer portal of their upcoming new venture.

After designing the frontend architecture from the ground up I started the implementation of the actual application together with other developers.
