100%. Unless you're a dev living in the terminal, all you need is Claude Desktop UI.

Adding to Justin's thoughts:

Claude Desktop + Desktop Commander MCP gives you OS-level control - process management, .MD files, diff-based file editing across your entire system, shell commands. Plus better conversation branching and artifact handling.

Want to run a fully impersonated Chrome, analyze audio files, or compress a folder? You can do it from Claude Desktop.

You also get full skills and MCP support with one-click installs.

Claude Code is built for devs. Recommending it to non-technical users for daily work keeps blowing my mind.

- makes everything easier
- is available only for Claude Max users on macOS
- doesn't cover everything Desktop Commander handles (e.g., a fully impersonated browser)

What changed: Anthropic made the obvious choice impossible to miss.

What didn't change: the right answer was always Claude Desktop, not Claude Code.

Two tools you should consider using:

Obsidian
Claude Desktop

Obsidian is a clean way to write markdown files. Why Markdown? It’s the defecto plain text document for AI. 

Claude Desktop in “Code” mode. This will allow you to easily read and use your markdown files right in Claude (yes, Claude Code is now in Claude Desktop directly).

To what end?

A source of truth for your entire business or project. Bring it all here. 

Obsidian works on file folders so you can easily sync it like any other folder (dropbox, gdrive, etc). Obsidian also has a built-in Sync service that enables remote team sharing as well as iPhone syncing.

Claude Desktop now has Claude Code built in. This means you can connect Claude Desktop to your Obsidian docs on your local computer using the local files. This can keep you, your team, and Claude all in sync while doing any LLM stuff you might need. Further, you can use it to build up a public knowledge base to display on your website (if you want), you can use it to surface questions to create content, you can use it to track public content, and much more.
