She loved learning

A queer student told me,
“I don’t think Europe is for someone like me.”

Didn’t plan it
But it opened something

Last week
My mentee, the one who whispered her dream -
submitted her application
She hit “send” with shaking hands
I did too

The last six months have been messy, emotional, and unexpectedly grounding

I started The Growth Collective for one reason
To help queer youth in India apply for fully funded Master’s programs
(Erasmus Mundus & more)
without shrinking who they are

The plan was simple
→ build a safe community
→ bring in global mentors
→ map scholarships clearly
→ launch the first cohort quietly

Reality looked more like

Day 1: A 2-hour call with a student doubting she belonged in global spaces
Day 57: Conversations with NGOs across the country
Day 89: Co-creator dialogues turning into real partnerships
Day 95: British Council India showing interest
Day 110: Global mentors joining from multiple time zones
Day 120+: Still building, still listening, still learning

In 2022, I decided I would not stay in India and go abroad to explore independently. 

What led to my decision?

→ A dull college life with no learning
→ No opportunities that I found worth my time
→ My own aspirations to build a life I was proud of

Now, in 2023, I'm doing my masters in Project management (majoring in product management) at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. 

Within 1 month of my intake: 

→ I won the Tech Stars Hackathon at Boston Startup weekend
→ Became a product manager at the APMC club here in Northeastern
→ Got over my fears, had amazing experiences, and met some amazing people

But, My journey to become an international student was not easy. 

Even though I had a solid plan to go to Canada, study, work, and get a PR. 

Life didn't work out that way; my plans changed at the last moment, and I came to the States.  

I spent a whole year planning out every detail of my journey, and that got me to where I am today.

Now, I organize events for international students, work on products and ideas, network with CEOs and so much more....
