Lead project on digitizing voting for CSBA elections, leading to a more efficient and less error-prone process.

Assist in organization of company visits to Lehigh University where the company will meet with CSB students. Companies include: Goldman Sachs, Lockheed Martin, PwC, Sanofi.

Introduced first CSB program-wide communication channel, allowing students to be able to ask questions about classes and receive various resources.

Achievements:

Researched and solved issues regarding search engine optimization. By the end, our website was accessible through the first 2 links of a search on all major search engines.

Created the ability for CSB students and Programming Club (ACM) members to sign up for mock technical interviews. This was not previously available at Lehigh University. Since the creation of the mock technical interviews, many students have gained practice they otherwise would not have had.

Held a workshop on how to make a personal website for CSB students. Within a few weeks after the workshop, multiple people who attended the workshop have told me they made their own website and/or made a website for a class project.

Managed the Mentor-Mentee program, a system designed to help incoming freshmen with the transition into the rigorous Computer Science & Business program.

Consistently presented in front of over 200 students in the CSB major

Built backend infrastructure in Scala which laid the groundwork for allowing any team to send in-app prompts to users. Then wrote the backend logic for the first use case of this infrastructure, leading to ~500,000 users/day being prompted to make their account more secure by confirming or reviewing their email. When users confirm their email it makes their account more secure because if they forget their password, they are able to get a new one.

Interacted between multiple micro-services using Thrift to create remote procedural (RPC) calls across teams.

Wrote design documentation for changing requirements, working across multiple teams for approval.

Jordan Cutler

Your manager asks you to delegate more work to other engineers so you can scale yourself. What do you do?

Here's the simplest way to remember: think about each piece of work you delegate like a one-pager.

One-pagers include:
• Problem
• Goal
• Solution
• Alternatives
• Risks

Start at the top. Always tell them the problem (or the "why"). Then, continue down the list as far as you'd like, but stop when you're confident the other person can handle the rest.

You can use engineering levels/titles as a rule of thumb, but it doesn't always need to map to that. For example,
• Staff engineer -> stop at "Problem"
• Senior engineer -> stop at "Goal"
• Mid-level engineer -> stop at "Solution"
• Entry/Junior engineer -> cover most or all

When you want to challenge them, stop earlier. Let them take on more and give them that growth opportunity.

A one-pager is all you need. Move Slack conversations to docs if you want to drive action forward and have a collaborative discussion.

Slack conversations:
❌ Impermanent. Quickly disappears after a day or two
❌ Informal and less weight to the discussion
❌ Lack of structure that weakens a proposal

Docs and one-pagers:
✅ Permanent. Stays around and feels like an "artifact"
✅ Easy to get feedback on any aspect of an idea
✅ Templated with everything you need to craft a great proposal

Slack has its place. But if you have an idea you want to move forward with, especially across teams, consider making a one-pager instead of starting a mega-thread.
