N'Dinawemak. Our Relatives' Place

N’Dinawemak was formed in November 2021 by a circle of partners who came together to provide a
low-barrier, 24/7 emergency warming shelter. During the winter, N’Dinawemak had a bed capacity of
100 which expanded to 150 beds and was filled daily. The drop-in was open 24/7 during the winter and
supported an additional 50 – 70 individuals overnight. With the harsh winter conditions experienced
during the 2021/22 winter, N’Dinawemak is credited by community members and service delivery
agencies with contributing to saving multiple lives.

The Bear Clan Patrol Inc.

Proud to support Winnipeg's Bear Clan Patrol as a member of the board of directors. It came about as a result of the ongoing need to assume our traditional responsibility to provide security to our Aboriginal community. Given that the Aboriginal population in Winnipeg is anywhere from 60,000 to 80,000, and is heavily concentrated in certain inner city neighborhoods, it was felt that the community must organize to keep the peace and to assist community members. The concept behind the patrol, then, is community people working with the community to provide personal security in the inner city in a non-threatening, non-violent and supportive way.

Our program interfaces with the Winding River Therapeutic Community based out of Headingly Corrctional Centre and provides wrap around supports to participants. Our professional program staff deliver daily cirriculum designed to assist the participant with finding meaningful work in the field of their choice as well as addictions supports.

I see tremendous potential in the youth today but there are many bridges to build. I intend to be a builder of those bridges.
