As a 57‑year‑old trainer, certified health coach and iOS developer, I work on one problem from two angles:

Helping 40/50+ professionals improve energy, sleep and strength with simple, evidence‑based habits.

Building humane apps like Sunlock (sunlight before screenlight) and PRSNT (presence on demand) that protect focus instead of stealing it.

Across both, the goal is the same: protect the health, attention and performance of people in the second half of life, using the philosophy of “fundamentals over fads”.

kipmate helps organisations, sports teams and individuals get better kip.

It came from a belief that poor sleepers are not getting the support they need. It can be hard to access and when people do the intervention is often, long winded, boring, patronising and prescriptive. 

I founded kipmate to offer a set of simple and effective tools that provide resources that are engaging, educational and really work.vContent that is delivered in person, remotely and via our digital platform, created by some of the world's leading experts in sleep. 

Kip mate has been refined over my many years of work with blue chip organisations, leading sports teams and working with hundreds of thousands of poor sleepers; it helps poor sleepers understand themselves better and helps them sort their sleep.

The Sleep Geek

As the 3rd generation of my family to be involved in the production of sleep products it was embarrassing to share with people that I suffered from insomnia. From my earliest memory I couldn’t sleep. Finally in my mid-twenties I found the drive to solve my problem and that led to me training as a practitioner to help others. 

I trained with The Children's Sleep Charity which offers the gold standard of practitioner training in Children's Sleep. i have added to this knowledge adding training in mindfulness for sleep, safe sleep for babies and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) I now work from cradle to grave helping babies, kids, teens and adults overcome their sleep issues and get the sleep they deserve.

I now work as part of Beingwell, helping them develop their Sleepingwell group of solutions that offers everything from helping individuals, organisations and those in sport to sleep better with Kip Advisor and Unik Performance to the screening, diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders with The Sleep Lab.

I am still as passionate as ever in advocating for poor sleepers, in demanding better access to support for those who struggle with their sleep, questioning the approach of those in academia and medical circles to addressing and treating sleep issues.

I look to create simple clear content that helps people understand their sleep better and understand what small changes they can make to their behaviours, mindset and sleep environment to get better sleep. This means I am in great demand to raise awareness about sleep, in organisations, in sports and in the media, whether in writing, being listened to on the radio or a podcast or appearing on such shows as Football Focus, BBC Breakfast, This Morning or Packed Lunch with Steph McGovern.

Halifax FC Women

Halifax FC Women is a proudly independent women's football team playing in the FA National Women's League, the third tier of women's football. We want to create a strong, independent women’s club that gives opportunities to all those who wish to be involved in women's football; players, coaches, volunteers, fans and businesses, whether they are in the Calder Valley or elsewhere in the world.

My role is to help the people at the club with their sleep (obviously) but also help the club create a sustainable commercial model that does not rely on handouts from a men's team.

The Sleep Lab

The original aim of The Sleep Lab was to help the world sleep better through developing content products and services that have a real impact on people's sleep. This was achieved through developing The` Sleep Geek corporate offering and working with brands and manufacturers developing sleep products. ~during our time running Beingwell we realised that our approach, based on developing content that was not patronising, prescriptive or poorly thought out, but entertaining, engaging and educational could work in other areas of wellbeing. We wrapped The Sleep Lab into Beingwell, a collection of like minded people who wanted to change the way Wellbeing was delivered to people using technology and great storytelling.

The Children's Sleep Charity

The Children's Sleep Charity aims to offer support to parents and professionals dealing with children who have sleep issue. They offer free courses for parents and CPD certified training for professionals. I have been a practitioner working with them for a number of years My role involves:

Working with families who are suffering with sleep issues

I am currently involved in a pilot project funded by the Paul Hamlyn Trust looking at Teen's sleep. We are working with 5 schools in Yorkshire & Humber sleep support to pupils and staff

We Love Sleep

Started the company in my parents garage and grew it to an operation with a showroom, online store, consultancy service and a contract operation employing 4 people in total

-Managed Key Performance Indicators to ensure targets were met

-Created a customer service orientated brand that took a consultative approach to selling sleep products

-Managed all aspects of the showroom, from health and safety, visual merchandising, sales, marketing and also HR

-Full responsibility for sourcing products and managing a worldwide supply chain

-Developed own brand range of mattresses with British manufacturers

-Developed a full marketing and PR campaign to differentiate We Love Sleep from its competitors. 

-Created The Sleep Geek persona to act as a spokesperson for the company. Became a trained sleep practitioner to assist in the implementation of this strategy

-Achieved numerous pieces of coverage in both national and local media, including an appearance on Look North and became the go to sleep expert for BBC Radio Sheffield

Furniture Selection specialised in supplying wooden bedroom furniture to the retail market, supplying customer from multiple retailers to independent stores.

Marketing Manager-Led a total re-brand of the company's marketing offering. Developed a website, brochure and promotional activity to better reflect the company's position in the market

Container Planner-Used historical data to forward plan containers of pine furniture from our factories in Brazil

Sales Agent-Acted as the company's sales agent in Yorkshire and the North East, supporting existing customers and developing new relationships

As The Sleep Geek I have a passion to help the world sleep better through individuals understanding their sleep and then helping them understand what easy to implement changes they can make to their behaviours, environment and mindset.  

Additionally I advocate for poor sleepers, regularly appearing on TV and radio and being featured run newspapers, magazines and digital platforms around the world.

I am part of the Beingwell Family, which is a group of people who want to develop products and services that increase accessibility and affordability of preventative health solutions. I am responsible for creating the stories and content around our products, services and interventions and to ensure what we create engages through being entertaining and educational not patronising and prescriptive. 

I am also overseeing the Sleepingwell group of products that aims to offer a one stop solution for poor sleepers, whether they be individuals, in organisations or elite athletes. We will deal with behavioural sleep issues and sleep disorders from cradle to grave and offer the best expertise and knowledge from sleep products, to sleep interventions and medical sleep issues.
