Football 4 Peace:
This is specifically to address the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace Justice and Strong Institutions). Football4Peace involves an annual tournament comprising of 34 teams (10 players per team of males and females) drawn from the higher learning institutions and local communities in Kenya, each team playing for the SDG of their choice, all advocating for a peaceful coexistence.

The tournament is hosted in the week of the World Football Day, with the tournament draw hosted in April during the ‘International Day of Sports For Peace and Development’ each year. 

Each team taking part in the tournament undertakes a peacebuilding challenge before the tournament. Through the tournament GYF mobilizes 17 companies, organisations, or individuals to sponsor teams from marginalised communities to be involved. 

To emerge the tournament champion, a team not only has to score goals on the field of play but also demonstrate and show they are contributing towards peace building and civic engagement within their communities. During the tournament, the teams learn about their similarities and civic duties and peaceful conflict resolution methods within the communities. An annual Tournament will unite 510 players from 17 Counties every year.

In 2025, at Rewired Collective, we focused on two teams for SDG #2: Zero Hunger and SDG #16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

Several years ago, I was struck with two brain tumors, multiple TBIs, and debilitating conditions. My mind got foggy and my limbs slowly lost mobility. I became unemployed and experienced temporary homelessness. For the last 8 years, my life has been an odyssey of being bed ridden, seeing multiple doctors and requiring full time care.

Thanks to a plant-based diet, yoga, meditation and a lot of prayer, I've regained my mental clarity & mobility and am no longer in a wheelchair or walking with a walker. However, in the face of uncertainty as to how much time I have left, as well as the tremendous mental toll the often-debilitating symptoms have had on me daily, I wanted to find a way to generate joy on a daily basis. A way to thrive.

The online world gave me a place to share my mission of uniting humanity, while also pursuing my purpose -- empowering others with the tools I learned to create lasting change.
