I flew out of the smallest airport I've ever been to this Thanksgiving.
New Haven, Connecticut.
And I found the best use of a vending machine I've ever seen.

Over the holiday, I traveled through 4 states: New Jersey, New York City, Newport, Rhode Island, and the Connecticut coastline.

Grateful for the journey. 
Grateful for the people. 
Grateful for the experiences.

But what stopped me in my tracks was this:

A vending machine. At the gate. Selling books.

Not chips. Not candy bars. Not overpriced sodas.

Books.

Here's why this matters.

Most vending machines sell you something to pass time.
This one sold you something to spend time well.

Think about it.

You're about to sit on a plane for 2 hours. Maybe more.

You could scroll. You could snack. You could zone out.

Or you could read.

Someone at that tiny airport in New Haven thought about that moment.

They asked: What do people actually need right now?

And instead of defaulting to junk food, they chose knowledge. Story. Connection.

That's thoughtful innovation.

It's not flashy. It's not complicated.
It's just someone paying attention to what serves people better.

I didn't buy a book. I had one with me. Actually, two, but who's counting.

But I stood there for a minute just appreciating it.

Because small decisions like that one add up.

They signal that someone cared enough to reimagine what a vending machine could be.

Not every innovation needs to be a breakthrough.
Sometimes it's just putting the right thing in the right place at the right time.

So here's to the person who decided to put books in that vending machine.

And here's to noticing the small, creative ideas that make life a little better.

What's a small innovation you've seen recently that made you stop and appreciate it?

I was going to write a post about Jensen Huang and how he built NVIDIA around pain tolerance.

But then I saw today’s headline:

“SoftBank sells entire NVIDIA stake for $5.83B to fund AI bets.”

And it hit me…

Jensen and his team are probably completely unfazed.

Because they’ve lived this cycle before.
Booms, busts, hype waves, crashes.
They’ve built muscle memory for volatility.

Jensen once said:
“People with very high expectations have very low resilience… and unfortunately, resilience matters in success.”

That’s why NVIDIA doesn’t flinch when others make short-term plays.
They’ve been thirty days from going out of business before.
Now, they’re the backbone of the AI revolution.

Meanwhile, SoftBank is moving money to further fund OpenAI.

Maybe they’re right. Maybe they’re early.
But there’s a difference between betting on AI and becoming essential to it.

That’s what Jensen mastered:
He didn’t just invest in the wave, he built the board.

And that’s the real lesson for founders and leaders right now:

Don’t get swept up in the next AI headline.
Build something that survives the next one.

This door changed everything.

Last week I went back to URI to speak to students.

The night before I went to the basketball game.

And I saw this door again.

Back then it didn't have the branding.
Just a door with a light on.

I was 18.
Scared.
Looking for my shot.

I walked in.
Rang a diner-style bell on the desk.
No one was there.

A woman popped out from around the corner, startled.

I now realize it was her day off.
She was probably just grabbing something quick.
And there I was an 18-year-old kid interrupting her day off.

But I didn't leave.

I asked: "Are there any opportunities in sports where I can get involved?"

That question changed my life.

She gave me a shot. She connected me with the director of basketball ops.
Soon after, I became a student manager for URI men's basketball.

4 years with the Rams.
Then 2 years at UConn as a graduate assistant.

All with Coach Hurley; learning what it takes to be a champion.

He exposed me to self-development.
Books.
Podcasts.
Personal growth.
The idea that you could design your life.

Basketball led to books.
Books led to business.
Business led to me standing in front of students last week, teaching them what I learned.

All because I walked through a door and asked.

Here's what I know:

Life doesn't hand you opportunities.
You create them.

You set a vision.
You take action.
You get in the right rooms.

You open doors.
You ring bells.

Most people wait.
They hope someone will notice them.
They think success happens to them.

It doesn't.

You make it happen.

I was an 18-year-old kid with no connections.
No resume.
No experience.

Just a question.

6 years in basketball.
5 years in business.
A full life of growth, all from one decision.

Don't wait for handouts.
Don't wait for life to happen to you.

Set the vision.
Take the action.

Ring the bell.

This week, a prospect asked me how to find speaking leads.
I told him that wasn't his problem.

Here's what actually is 👇

He came to me worried about two things: not knowing how to find leads and getting his content to resonate with the right people.

I had to be honest with him.

There is no shortage of leads.

LinkedIn alone has over 1 billion users.
The average household income? $124,000.
And compared to every other social platform, it has the fewest people posting content.

It's the least noisy platform for professionals.

So what's the real problem?

Most professionals expect the world to run to them with their credit card out.

That's not how this works.

You need to give people a reason to:
• Follow you on social
• Read your content regularly
• Connect with you privately
• Trust you enough to invest

Without that reason, they won't.
And no amount of posting will fix it.

Here's where most authors and speakers blow it.

They believe their ideas are the best thing ever.

And sure, maybe they are.

But pride doesn't connect with people.
Relatability does.

If your content is all about YOU and YOUR ideas without marrying it to a lesson the reader actually cares about, well...

They won't read it.
They won't follow you.
They won't engage.

The shift required is simple but brutal.

You have to put your pride aside.

Use your core ideas. 
Use your experiences. 
But anchor them to something the reader can apply, feel, or learn from in their own life.

Make it about them, not you.

That's the connection.

When your content speaks to the reader's problems, challenges, and outcomes...they start to trust you.

When they trust you, they follow you.
When they follow you, they reach out.
When they reach out, you close deals.

But it all starts with making your content about the READER.

Not you.

This is much easier said than done.

Keep raising prices as you get better.

Most people want the complex strategy.

(Seriously... read that again - and intentionally...)

The ones who:

• Value quality over bargains
• Take action instead of just consuming
• Respect your time and expertise
• Get results because they're invested

They see your $27 course and think:

"𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 $2,700. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦?"

Meanwhile, you're stuck with:

• Refund requests from people who "didn't have time"
• Bad reviews because it "wasn't what they expected"
• Endless questions from people who want everything

I like to use this restaurant analogy:

(Because... well I spent 15 years in fine-dining)

Michelin-starred restaurants don't compete on price.

They charge premium because premium attracts premium.

People who can afford $300 dinners don't complain about the portion size.

People who can afford $3 dinners complain about everything.

Your pricing tells the market exactly who you serve.

Charge like a McDonald's? 

Get McDonald's customers.

Charge like a five-star restaurant? 
Get five-star customers.

Of course, remember...

A lot of this comes down to you.

You cannot charge beaucoup right out of the box.

The responsibility is on you to hone:

• Your skills
• Your delivery
• Your expertise

But once you do

The doors open...

Stop racing to the bottom.

Start climbing to the top.

Simplicity wins:

1. Master one skill
2. Solve one problem
3. Serve one audience

But here's the part everyone misses:

You need multiple ENTRY POINTS, not multiple OFFERS.

There's a massive difference.

Multiple offers = serving different people with different problems.

Multiple entry points = serving the SAME person at different commitment levels.

Let me explain with my own journey:

Two years ago, I was the "diversified" creator:

• LinkedIn course ($197)
• Email templates ($47)
• 1:1 coaching ($200/hour)
• Group mastermind ($497/month)

Four different audiences.
Four different transformations.
Four different marketing messages.

I was exhausted. Confused. And barely profitable.

How to make $10K months your new normal.

I remember my first $10K month.

• I screenshotted the Stripe balance
• I called my now wife
• I took a deep breath

I felt like I'd won the lottery.

Then month two hit $10K again.

Sudden relief: "Maybe this wasn't a fluke."

By month three, I was planning how to hit $15K.

Because $10K had become my baseline.

Here's what I learned about turning miracles into habits:

• Basic Zoom calls
• Zero polish

Guess who makes more money?

Creator B. 

Every single time.

WhY?!

The reason is simple...

Because Creator B can SELL.

They know how to articulate value
They're comfortable asking for money
They understand their audience's pain points

Creator A? 

They hide behind "perfection" because they're terrified of rejection.

Here's what I've learned after helping 100+ creators build profitable businesses:

The most important skill in business:

Learning to sell.

The second most important skill:

Learning to automate selling.

(That word would get a double underline...)

Everything else is just expensive procrastination.

• Your funnel is worthless if you can't sell
• Your branding doesn't matter if you can't sell
• Your "perfect" offer is meaningless if you can't sell

Selling is the bridge between your knowledge and their transformation.

Without it, you're just an expensive hobbyist.

Before I built a 6-figure business, I was a server.

I wasn't trying to be: 

• The chef
• The sommelier
• AND the maitre d...

I mastered one thing: 

Making people feel taken care of.

Then I got really, really good at it.

(Cue blushed cheeks because I sound like a turd...)

Here's what most solopreneurs get wrong:

They think MORE equals BETTER.

• More skills
• More problems
• More audiences

But width without depth is just chaos.

That's why I recommend, when starting out:

𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹.

Pick the thing that comes naturally to you. The thing others struggle with but you find intuitive.

Then go deeper than anyone else is willing to go.

Because when you're genuinely great at one thing, people pay premium prices.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺.

Not the flashiest problem.
Not the most complex one.

The one that haunts your ideal client. The one they've been trying to solve for months—maybe years.

Become the person who solves it completely.

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Stop trying to help everyone and start obsessing over someone.

Learn their language. Understand their fears. Know what keeps them up at night.

Then speak to them like you've been living in their head.

This approach feels limiting.

I get it.

Every course creator is telling you to scale, diversify, build multiple streams.

But here's the truth:

You can't build a skyscraper on shallow foundation.

Dig deep first.

The empire comes later.

I built a $10K/month business in my spare time.

(While everyone else was chasing viral content):

Here's what they don't tell you about digital products:

They're not just the fastest way to $10K/month.

They're the only way that makes mathematical sense.

Think about it...

Physical products = inventory + shipping + headaches

Digital products = create once + sell forever + pure profit

The math isn't even close...

But here's where most creators get stuck:

They think "digital product" means some complex course with dozens of modules.

Wrong.

Your expertise is your product.

• Package it. 
• Price it. 
• Deliver it.

All you need:

• One clear offer (what problem you solve)
• One fulfillment method (how you solve it)
• One distribution channel (where you find people)
• One post per day (to attract them on that channel)

I started simple:

90-minute strategy session. $1K.

Same framework every time. 
Same transformation. 
Different client.

Then I realized something powerful...

Why deliver this transformation to one person when I could deliver it to ten?

Group coaching changed everything.

Same 90 minutes. Same framework. Same results.

But instead of $1K, I was making $10K.

From the exact same time investment.

This is the leverage most solo creators never find.

They stay stuck in 1:1 delivery.

Time for money. 
Income ceiling.
No scale.
